Napoleon Bonaparte was a French military leader and emperor who was born in Corsica in 1769 and died in 1821. He attended the military academy at Brienne and had a successful career in the French military, eventually becoming the Emperor of France from 1804 to 1815. Some of his major accomplishments included being a skilled military strategist who conquered much of Europe, though he eventually was defeated and exiled to the island of Saint Helena, where he spent his final years.
