The Naica Crystal Caves in Chihuahua, Mexico, host the world's largest natural selenite crystals, some reaching lengths of 50 feet and weighing over 55 tons. Discovered in a working lead, zinc, and silver mine, these extraordinary structures are found in two chambers known as the Cave of Giants and the Cave of Swords, located about 1,200 feet deep with extreme temperatures and humidity. Concerns about vandalism have led the mine owners to limit access to scientific experts, while plans are in place to open the caves to the public after implementing protective measures.
