4. On a tour June 22, 2010 We rode on a double-decker bus and on a boxcar. We saw amazing sites and history throughout the city. WWII Memorial/ Lincoln Memorial Site of Lincoln’s assassination
5. On tour The Eternal Flame Vietnam War Memorial June 22, 2010 Guadalupe Flores- My uncle Died on duty in 1968. Located his name by using the internet on my cell phone. Presidential Memorial and gravesite of John F. Kennedy
6. Library of Congress June 23, 2010 Print/Photo tour with a curator from LC. She was very informative. During the tour, there was a lady who was showing her art to a different curator. 1939: San Juan, TX Rio Grande Valley
7. Library of Congress Main Building Inside main building June 23, 2010 Beautiful architecture throughout the building! Our tour guide was well informed. We even got to see where the movie National Treasure was filmed.

9. Postal Museum June 22, 2010 By chance, we stumbled upon this museum outside of Union Station. It highlighted the evolution of mail delivery.

11. Lincoln Memorial Very Tall Statue Learned that all the state names are carved into the top of the building.

18. TIPS FOR ALA/TLA Register early for the conference. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Arrive early at the conference to avoid long lines at badge pickup. Get to the conference sessions early to guarantee a good place to sit. Sit towards the middle to the back of the room for a smoother exit. Be prepared to carry lots of freebies like books and other materials that companies are just so pleased to give away. Don’t forget to eat!

20. Austin… Loved it! Beautiful sceneries. Especially The Oasis on Lake Travis. I didn’t care too much about the traffic though. TLA… I wish I would have gone to more sessions. Loved the books I got!
