Parvez is a Pakistani taxi driver who befriends a prostitute named Bettina. He has a son named Farid who was very close to his father. However, Farid suddenly embraces Islam passionately and begins displaying radical views. He calls off his engagement to his white girlfriend and joins protests against prostitution that turn violent. When Parvez finds Farid abusing Bettina at a protest, he stops Farid and takes him home. Their relationship deteriorates and Farid leaves home, also causing Parvez's wife to leave him. Parvez is left with nothing after his son radicalizes and rejects his more moderate religious views.

2. Summary:Parvez is Pakistani taxi driver who creates a strong friendship with a Bettina a prostitute. Along with being a taxi driver Parvez is a pimp. He drives a German business man and Bettina around after referring Bettina to him. He falls in love with Bettina and starts seeing her regularly. He has a son Farid who is his only child, Farid was given everything by his father and mother “Minoo”. His father accepted his sons relationship with a white girl, and was happy to bless the marriage. However his son calls of the engagement, and his behaviour starts to change. Parvez becomes worried about his son, and thinks that he has become a druggie. But then he finds his son praying; and Parvez did not provide his son with religious values and teachings. Farid goes to dinner with his father and asks for his father to repent for his sins; the dinner turns into a argument. Farid and his brothers wage a so called holy war against prostitution in northern England; which resorts to violence. Parvez finds his son at the protest physically abusing Bettina; he stops him and takes him home. Parvez beats Farid and Farid leaves home; and so does his mum. At the end Parvez is left with nothing, because his son leaves him and so does his wife.
