2. Preparation of business
presentations in PowerPoint
Презентация = Presentation (англ.) = Представление (рус.)
In general, a presentation is a set of slides containing
information on a specific topic and accompanied by the
necessary comments in oral or printed form.
Presentations can include high-quality graphics and video
images, animation, sound, and all these objects can be
connected by anima-effects.
Презентации могут применяться как для
индивидуального, так и для аудиторного использования.
3. Stages of work on the making
presentation
• Pre - communicative
– "Intelligence“
– Exploring
– planning
– finding a material
– technical realising
– Communicative
– Oratorical skills
– Technical implementation
– Answers to questions
– Postcommunicative
– Reflection (has the desired result been achieved?)
4. Basic rules for creating a
presentation
Before you start creating a presentation, you should clearly present:
What is the true purpose of your presentation? Why are you creating a
presentation?
• What are you going to convey to the audience?
• Who will be your listeners?…
What kind of people are sitting in front of you?
What are their interests? What do they know about the subject of the presentation?
What will they do with the information they receive?
What are their expectations?
Level of education?
Age? Gender?
5. Planning a presentation
• Making a plan for a future presentation
It is advisable to draw on paper the
structure of the presentation, a
schematic image of the slides, which
text, drawings, photographs or other
materials will be included in this or that
slide.
6. • Definition of the text part of the presentation
What will be shown on the
slides, and what you said,what
to put on the colored cards –
help message.
2 - Planning
7. Demonstration conditions
Situation No. 1 – report, report, lecture.Projecting
slides onto a large screen, using an interactive panel.
This may be a speech at a pedagogical council, a
conference, a meeting of directors, etc. Listeners
follow the show from their seats. (Think about who
will manage the display! How: with a mouse arrow, a
marker?
Check how your presentation will be displayed in
bright light! Where will you stand, what will you have
in your hands?)
8. Situation №2 – training class, seminar.
Listeners see your presentation on
their computers during the
presentation. You give explanations, no
matter using a large screen or using
your own computer. (Think over
navigation and ways of information
appearance)
9. Situation No. 3 – presentation as a
handout (electronic) material.
Listeners get acquainted with your
presentation on their own, without
your comments and, possibly, without
your presence. (Think over the
navigation, handout!)
10. Planning: presentation structure
• "Hook of interest" - attract attention
• Introduction – name the goals of the presentation
• The message contains several key points with justification
(facts, figures, links, examples, analogues, quotes – all on the
topic and necessarily verified) "Connecting bridge"
communication of the message with …
• Conclusion – conclusions
• "Hook of interest" - effectively complete the performance
11. We form the rules of presentation
design
• Color composition
• Font composition
• Composition of object sizes
• AnimationSound,
• video
12. Basic rules
• Everything should be simple
– The text is easy to read and understandable
– Short concise phrases
– Theses
– The speaker gives explanations
– Text size - depends on the size of the screen
and the audience - always at least 14
13. Basic rules
Stick to one background:
The background is a decoration for
information. Install the decorations and
don't touch them anymore!
14. Basic rules
If you use a projector:
• Light text on a semi-dark background
• Light attracts the eye
15. Basic rules
Try to dazzle the audience not with
graphics and style, but with
information.
The content in this case is more
important than the form.
16. Основные правила
хорошей презентации
One of the main mistakes when
creating presentations is a lot of
information on the screen. The
audience will be distracted by
reading the text, and not listening to
the speaker, as you are doing now.
They say the public is more receptive
to the text, not to the words.
17. Effective performance
The impression of a perfectly made
presentation can be spoiled due to the
speaker's poor performance and poor
preparation for its demonstration:
– Not reading, but commenting!
– we think it over, remember the conditions of
the demonstration
– Clarity of speech, voice
– Plastic movements
18. Conclusions
Successful presentation creation relies on:
• Analysis of the conditions for the implementation of the idea
• Careful preparation of the content
• Competent structuring and argumentation of the material
• Balanced, thoughtful design
• Skillful technical implementation
• Implementation of the plan at a high professional level
