There is so much that I have learned but I am going to research mandatory sentencing once again
as it is something that I wish that I could change.
Mandatory sentencing is good in some cases such as the man that has an appointed lawyer may
be allowed the same sentence as the wealthy man that can pay for a lawyer but will be expecting
to get out of his punishment due to the fact that he can pay to get out of it. Mandatory sentencing
can be very bad as the young man that was 19 years old decided to go joy riding and one of his
buddies girlfriend came and it turned out she was only 14 years old. They had an accident and
the 19 year old driver was charged with unlawful trans-action with a minor. The 19 year old
received the same punishment as the 48 year old man that took off with a child and sexually
molested her.
There has to be some changes made to this that each case is still handled and heard and a
decision should be made for each individual and crime.
