Advanced Placement English program at Canyon Springs. He holds a bachelo¡'s and mastert degree in English literarure and has
completed post-mastert work at the University of Michigan, Kent State (Ohio), and California universities. He is a member of the
lrloreno Valley Educators Association Representative Council, and the Moreno Valley United Methodist Church. Mr. Gahagan has
made significant contriburions to the entire school community and the academic success of Canyon Springs High School and its
srudents. His goal is "to live a life that really matters."
Ms. Laney has been rvi¡h rhe Disrricr lor nvenry-five years. She is currently a teacher at Butterfield Elementary School. She is
organized, focused, and goal oriented. lv{s. Laneyt responsibilities include grade level leader, member of the discipline committee,
and direcror of the K-2 musical production. She spends many hours beyond her normal workday organizing, planning, and
implementing programs lor Bu¡¡e¡field and is a mentor lor theValleyView High School senior project. She has a bachelor's degree
lrom California Baptisr Universin' and a master! degree from Azusa Pacific University. Ms- Laney is a schoolwide literacy
representative, a representatir.e for peer coaching, and a reading success network trainer. She is a member olthe CaliforniaTeachers
Association, Mo¡eno tallev Educarors Association, her church choir, and is a youth ministry teacher. Her goal is "to see my son
graduate lrom college, ¡o reri¡e, and ¡o be able to travel arounci the world."

As a member of rhe lr{oreno Vallev High School leadership team, Ms. Schillreffhas been influential in promoting the inclusion of
more advanced placement (AP) classes in ¡he master schedule and the high standards set for successful academics. She participates
as a member of ¡he YASC Ltadership Committee, is the co'chair olthe Social Studies Department, teaches advanced placement
United States and Europe an Historv and Achievement Via Individual Determination, and is part of the II/USP Leadership Gam.
Ms. Schillreff has a Bachelo¡ of Arts degree in Sociology and Political Science with a minor in Spanish. She is in the process of
obtaining her master's degree in curriculum and inst¡uction and educational instruction. Ms. Schillreflwas a finalist lor the 2004
California League of High Schools and Region 10 Educator of the Year. She is a member ol Phi Delta Kappa, Moreno Valley
Eclucators Association, Calilornia Gachers Association, and the Association of Curriculum and Development. Ms. Schillrelft goal
is to ensure that everl,one ofher,{VID students is accepted into a four-year university, to expand theAVID prográm at Moreno
Valley High School, and continue to develop social smdies curriculum that ensures all students access to a critical and rigorous
cu¡riculum.
irfs. Lor.ering began her teaching career with the Peace Corps in June 1966 teaching ESL to K-2 students in the Phillipines. She
has l'o¡ked in the Head Sta¡t/Preschool program, is a certified GATE teacher, and plans to complete field work to become a
cernfied reading specialist. Ms. Lovering was one of two teachers asked to attend the Calilornia Superintendent of Education
meeting regarding AP'466. She coordinated the first Early Childhood Conlerence in southe¡n California. Edgemont Elementary
School u,as one of three schools selecred to pilot mainstreaming handicapped students into regular classrooms. Ms. lovering is
posirive, caring, and culturally sensitive towards the learning goals ofthe students and the professional needs ofthe staff.
Mr. Krugert leadership has inspired student achievement as measured by the státe testing program. He has contained the number
of student conflicts that emerged prior to his becomingValleyView High School's principal, which provides for a safe environ-
ment lor student achievemenr. He manages the many diverse issues and conf'licts that are inevitable at a large comprehensive high
school. His stafd students, pa¡enrs, and community members acknowledge the tremendous amount of time he spends at student
events. This yea¡ Mr. Kruger had the opportunity to spend, his winter ¡ecess to accompany Valley View's marching band to the
Nokia Bowl in New Orleans. Mr. Kruger holds a bachelor's degree in music from California State Universiry Long Beach, and a
Masre r olArts degree from Chapman Universiry. He was recognized as Moreno Valley llnified School Districtt tacher of the Year
in 1998 ancl received the Board of Education Leadership Award in 2002.Mr. Kruger is a member of theAssociation of California
School Administrarors, Associarion of Moreno Valley Management Personnel, Southern Califo¡nia School Band and C)rchestra
Association, lnternational Association of Jazz Education, and Moreno Valley Noon Rotary.
