OLIVIA CALANDRO • Highly qualified trainer for IAIE • Graduate candidate at Vanderbilt University • Elementary grades teacher Olivia Calandro is a Vanderbilt University graduate candidate in Reading Education and English Language Learners. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelors degree in Special Education and Early Childhood Education. She has taught in kindergarten, third, and fourth grade. Olivia is a highly-qualified trainer for the Institute to Advance International Education .

KEVIN COUGHLAN • ESL and EFL teacher • University Lecturer with Westgate Corporation • Highly Qualified IAIE Trainer Kevin Coughlan has several years of experience in the field of language education. He has served as a language teacher to high ranking business executives and advanced language learners on an individual basis in Ireland. He has worked with adult language learner classes in Ireland and Malaysia, covering all levels and aspects of English. He has worked in the public education system in South Korea at a high school level, and in the private sector in Korea as an elementary language teacher. He is currently working at university in Japan, developing students conversational and grammatical abilities.

In addition he taught English to university and adult students in Taiwan and Japan. He is a graduate of San Diego State University with a BA in English. Dreyfuss was a continuation/alternative high school teacher from Bonita Unified School District. She earned her masters degree from Walden University. She earned her undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin and her teaching credential from California Polytechnic Institute in Pomona. Prior to her service as a teacher, she was a curriculum developer for a large online commercial education company. She has also worked in construction and development finance. Currently Paula is working as a highly-qualified trainer for the Institute of Advance International Education.

LINDA DUNNAVANT • Highly qualified trainer for IAIE • Reading specialist candidate at Vanderbilt University • Elementary grades teacher • Program coordinator for Patterson RAPS program Linda Dunnavant taught fifth grade reading and science for four years at public schools in Alabama and Tennessee. She graduated with an M.A. in teaching from the University of Memphis. Linda is currently a reading specialist endorsement candidate at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University. She also serves as the program coordinator for Patterson RAPS (Read and Play Saturdays), a grant program funded by best-selling author, James Patterson. Linda is a highly-qualified trainer for the Institute to Advance International Education.

JENNA HARRIS • Highly qualified trainer for IAIE • Graduate candidate at Vanderbilt University • Middle and high school teacher Jenna Harris is a teacher from West Tallahatchie High School in Webb, Mississippi where she taught 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts and creative writing for two years. A graduate of the University of Florida with a BA in Linguistics and Latin American Studies and an alumna of Teach For America, she is currently a Vanderbilt University graduate candidate in the Reading Education program. Jenna's academic interests include developing strategies for addressing teacher mindsets in the writing classroom, focusing specifically on culturally and linguistically diverse student populations. Seeking her ELL endorsement, Jenna earned her TESL certification and has volunteered as an English language teacher in Mexico and Argentina. Jenna is a highly qualified trainer for the Institute to Advance International Education.

BORAM KU • Highly qualified trainer for IAIE • Gradate candidate at Vanderbilt University • Fourth grade teacher • International volunteer Boram Ku is a teacher from the Guam Department of Education where she has taught fourth grade for two years. She is currently a graduate candidate in the Reading Education program at Vanderbilt University. Boram earned her B.A. in Elementary Education and English Literature from the University of Guam. During her two years of teaching, she has also served as a volunteer with USA Girl Scouts Overseas for two years. Boram is a highly-qualified trainer for the Institute to Advance International Education.
  9. 9. CHERYL TARQUINIO BASS LIVENGOOD • Highly qualified trainer for IAIE • Principal and Teacher Cheryl Livengood, Ed. D., was a principal for the Lake Elsinore Unified School District. Previous to her more than twenty years as a school administrator, she taught elementary, middle, and high school students for the Mendocino County Office of Education and Oakland Public Schools. Dr. Livengood volunteers at Elsinore Middle School in Southern California and on Western Association of School and Colleges Accreditation teams. Currently Cheryl is a highly-qualified trainer for the Institute of Advance International Education.

NYMAN • Highly qualified trainer for IAIE • Elementary and middle school teacher Lois Jean Nyman taught middle and elementary school students for more than 15 years in Southern California. She is a graduate of California State University, San Bernardino and earned her teaching credential from the University of California at Riverside. Prior to her service as a teacher, she worked in the financial services industry.. Currently Lois is a highly-qualified trainer for the Institute to Advance International Education.

NYMAN • Highly qualified trainer for IAIE • Middle and high school teacher Robert Nyman was a California Certified teacher with 25 years of teaching experience in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District, grades 6 through 12 and holds Masters Degree from California State College, San Bernardino. He earned his teaching credential from the University of California at Irvine. In addition to having held a California Teaching Credential, he has earned certificates for Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) and teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). During his teaching career he was a presenter at many California League of Middle School conventions and National Science Teachers Association conventions and taught with the San Jacinto Community College District. Prior to teaching he was a city planner and Director of Community Development with the City of Lake Elsinore and City of San Jacinto in California, USA. Currently Bob is working as a highly-qualified trainer for the Institute of Advance International Education.
  12. 12. TOM ROBBINS • University Instructor • Certified Teacher of English as a Foreign Language(TEFL) • Highly-qualified trainer for IEIA. Tom Robbins is currently an Instructor of English at Kanagawa University in Yokohama, Japan. He began teaching English to foreign learners in rural South Korea in 2007, where he primarily taught middle school students and trained Korean teachers of English. To date, he has worked with all ages of students from around the world, in diverse classroom settings ranging from distance education and private tutoring to not-for- profit programs and university classrooms. In addition, Tom has worked as both a student and professional researcher of anthropology, receiving his B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and his M.A. in Social Anthropology from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

She graduated from Rockhurst University with a BA in Elementary Education and Spanish. She taught fifth grade and has served as a school volunteer in both El Salvador and the Dominican Republic. Amanda is currently working as a research assistant for Dr. Doug and Lynn Fuchs’ study of effective teaching strategies in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools. She is a highly- qualified trainer for the Institute to Advance International Education.

SPRINGER • Highly qualified trainer for IAIE • Graduate candidate at Vanderbilt University • Middle school literacy teacher Sophie Springer is a current Vanderbilt University graduate candidate in Reading Education. While at Vanderbilt, she is working in a 7th grade literacy classroom, designing the academic vocabulary instruction. Sophie's academic interests include academic vocabulary instruction, critical literacy, and teacher professional development in high need, urban school districts. Prior to attending Vanderbilt, she taught middle school humanities at an independent school in Ohio and at a public school in Maine. Sophie graduated from Bowdoin College with a BA in history and a minor in teaching. Sophie is a highly- qualified trainer for the Institute to Advance International Education

SUMMER WOOD • Highly qualified trainer for IAIE • Ph D candidate at Vanderbilt University • Elementary school teacher and trainer Summer Wood is a Vanderbilt University Ph.D. candidate in Language, Literacy, and Culture. Her research interests include, culturally diverse students and reading achievement, with a specific focus on African American male students, critical literacy, and children's literature. She has previously worked as an elementary school teacher, curriculum writer, teacher trainer, and instructional coach.
