Brief biographical background
From California the band formed in 1999, the original band members
where, M. Shadows (vocals), Zacky Vengeance (guitar), Synyster Gates
(guitar), the Reverend (drums), and Johnny Christ (bass), in 2009 Jimmy
"The Rev" Sullivan passed away at the age of 28,before one of their
albums they got a replacement drummer Mike Portnoy, They swapped
the drummer in 2013 as well and that was their last change. The band
has 10 albums with their first “sounding the seventh trumpet” being
released in 2002 and their most recent album “the stage (deluxe
edition)” being released in 2017. The song I have chosen is from their
4th album released in 2007. The band has gained a lot of popularity
since its first album and has even made cameos in big name video
games like call of duty.

FINAL IDEA – YOUR IDEA
Your creative concept/video synopsis [describe your interpretation, use of
imagery or narrative, genre conventions, etc]
My final idea is to start my video with someone someone waking up on a broken
car in a scrap yard, the music at the start of the song I have chosen (scream –
avenged sevenfold) starts slow which will go well with some slow opening shots
of a band member on a car, as the music goes on he will begin to get off the car,
this will cut to the band in either the same scrap yard or another location playing
as the vocals kick in on the song, after a short time of watching the band perform
it will go back to the member on a car looking panicked, they will walk around the
scrapyard looking worried while also cutting back to the band periodically, as the
first chorus come in it will tart showing the band energetically playing, although
the first chorus is very short so it will primarily focus on the band. Towards the
end of the first chorus the main character will see another person dressed in a
scary costume who will not see him back. This introduces the antagonist but then
as the music goes back to being calm it will maintain a spooky atmosphere while
not going into too much detail and action. As the second chorus starts the band
will be shown energetically performing again but this time go back to the story
and show the antagonist see the main character and there will be a chase scene
which will go well with the upbeat chorus. In this chorus it is extended and shows
more of the song, so with the rest of the chorus it will go back to a longer clip of
the band playing. The rest of the video will follow this format and it will turn from
day to night as the video goes on, by the end I want it to be very dark and only lit
by things like flairs and torches. While this is happening the band will still be
playing in the dark but with a lot of lights on them. I haven't decided how I want
to end the video but I think either having the antagonist catching the main
character and taking them away as the last part of the song plays with the lyrics
”Scream, scream, scream the way you would if I ravaged your body Scream,
scream, scream the way you would If I ravaged your mind” then cutting back to
the band for the final replay of the chorus.

Much of this task is hypothetical, which means you will
need to investigate standard costings for such a
production and apply these to your planned production
considering which equipment you would need and
resources, etc

LOCATIONS
You need to identify locations and plan a recce.
What are the limitations and risks, eg distance, access, cost,
weather? How will you manage this?
Scrap yard, there are a lot of risks here as it is quite far from
me and my friends that will be in the video meaning we
need to do all shooting in one day, it is owned by 2 people
so there is a chance they may say we cannot use it (this is
not likely though as they are family friends), quite low cost
the only thing that is needed is petrol to get us there. The
weather could be an issue as there is very little shelter so if
it rains we will have a hard time filming. These are quite
simple to fix, we just have to plan well, pick a day with good
weather, make sure we get all of the shots in one day and
act appropriately so we don’t get kicked out.
My second location is a graveyard, distance is not an issue
because it is at the end of my road, no one is ever in there,
there is no cost and the weather shouldn't be too much of
an issue as rain in a graveyard just adds to the creepiness of
the video

EQUIPMENT
What do you need? E.g. equipment, resources? Mostly
from college, but who do you need to speak to get this
kit? What is available? When?
Look at equipment hire places, etc
I need a camera and a tripod from college, to get these I
will need to book them for when I am going to film

FACILITIES
Where will you edit your video? Do you need any other
specialist facilities…?
I will edit my video in college as I do not have editing
software of my own

CREW: What is your team? Who is in it? What are each
team members strengths/weaknesses? When are they
available?
The crew is just me, I will be on camera
CAST: Do you need any external performers? When are
they available? Cost implications? Will you have to feed
them? Transport them?
I have 3 performers that will be in the video willingly, one
of the 3 can drive and has a car so we will be using him
for transport. I will give him money for petrol however

someone else to film, as if I cant find a fourth band
member I will have to act in it

you make it; it will make filming and production a more

STRUCTURAL BREAKDOWN
Breakdown your track into it basic sections [e.g. intro,
verse, chorus, verse, etc] and apply broad visual ideas to
each section
You can use this as the master template for your
production, then add more shots to each section when
you develop your full visual plan
You should create a slide showing all the sections of the
song, then add a slide for each section with timings,
lyrics, what happens and details on specific shots
You could storyboard and shot list each section as you
go, to break up the process.

Your storyboard should bring your idea to life
Provide an idea of the sequencing of you video

It will be your working document when you film
It should contain the shot number, scene number, shot
description, framing and action you will see

RISK ASSESSMENT
Risk Assess each separate filming location using the table in
the camera H&S PP on Bb as a staring point
There are lots of risks with my location as it is a dangerous
place if you aren't safe and sensible, there is heavy
machinery, broken cars, planes etc. 2 guard dogs, 2 guard
dogs, scrap metal lying around. None of these are risky if
you constantly are aware of your surroundings and only film
in the areas I am allowed to. The risk is increased as I want
to film part in the dark, this could be a problem as there is
so much randomly placed things that could be walked into
or tripped over, extra caution must be used while walking
around in the dark.
Graveyard, there is no real risk other than the possibility of
walking into a tomb stone but this is quite unlikely, this can
be stopped by just moving around with caution, there is
also some ethical issues, you cannot show names on tomb
stones and also not walk over the graves, this is again easy
to solve, we will film the back of the tomb stones and make
sure to only walk on the paths

CONTINGENCY PLANNING
