2. Red showing danger
and passion and
vulnerability
Low lighting
showing maybe
there’s a hidden
secret and she’s in
the dark
Looks as if she’s
walking into a dark
alley dungeon
Just two handle bars there and
she decided that she’s not going
to use them showing that she’s
in control of her own life and
she’s showing that she wants to
decide what path way she
wants to take
Birds eye
view
Long shot
She looks as if she’s a prostitute
maybe and the red dress gives a
sense of danger as that’s a job
people normally do when they are
struggling and associates with the
lack of self love as they are selling
their body and not knowing their
worth and is a quick way to make
money
The women takes up a
third of the space and
has light only shining
down on her which
could be seen as if
something from above
‘HEAVEN’ is watching
over her and the darkest
that she is walking into
could be a symbol of
‘HELL’
3. The setting is placed in a
green environment
suggesting a rural setting
with the urban background
of buildings towering over
the lead singer which is also
seen as negative space
showing that she can’t run
from where she comes from
there’s no escape
Links to the typical black
female singer stereotype of
them coming from a urban
area
The blonde hair
shows her
uniqueness and her
personality and is
personal to her
Dressed in full black and is
fully clothed showing no
flesh which goes into
conflict with what a ‘typical’
female protagonist would
look like in their music
video which is normally
flashy
Mid shot
Worm eye
view
She takes up a third of
the page and she is
the only person in the
scene showing that
she is the main focus
This is
set in
London
4. The church can change a
person but there’s a
barrier between him and
that can symbolise the
difficulties of change high
key lighting
Low lighting Dark alley way
and he’s lingering to the
church that’s brightly lit its as
if there’s like a gravitational
pull bringing him towards the
church which could be faith
and hope
Juxtaposes
each other
black silhouette so you cant
see him properly but when
he comes to light you will be
able to see him clearer
Rough setting
Clear pathway
Long shot
His back is towards as if
he wants us to follow
him
5. If you were to look closely you would be
able to figure out that Emile Sande
walked past a chicken shop, the chicken
shop is typically used as a symbol for
poverty and representing a the urban
environment that you would normally
see people of colour at especially
youths. You can also see that she across
the road from it and not on the same
side suggesting that she’s trying to
escape and be far from there
Urban area
This was a mid shot
showing raw emotion
up close and personal
you feel more close and
relatable to her and
there is negative space
in view
She wearing black she doesn’t
want to stand she just wants to
fit in and not be noticeable
which emphasises the fact and
point of her coming from there
which also meets the stereotype
of women of colour coming
from urban environments
She’s the only
person in the
shot showing
that she’s the
focus of the shot
6. • Little boy innocent very vulnerable
• His hands are placed in his hands as if he feels protected and he
has normalised his environment
• He’s wearing a red and white stripped top showing his
vulnerability. His facial expressions are emotionless but at the
same time he looks scared and he looks as if he’s looking
straight at you which makes the viewer look sympathetic as no
one likes to see children
• But his face can change anytime
• The shot was a mid shot so that we could get a brief view on his
location and how the environment is
• The light behind him which looks like its coming form above has
a link to the song title ‘heaven’ as people normally link light
coming from above with heaven and is high key but the lighting
displayed on him is dark and that’s only because he hasn’t turnt
on the light switch that was specifically placed in front of him
showing how easy it is for him to change as hes only a child and
he has his whole life right in front of him and literally in his
hands as he and the light switch is seen as symbol of him being
in control of his own life and making decisions for himself you
can see that the light is catching up to him and if he turns the
light on he could open doors for himself to have a better life.
And the light is a symbol for his happiness.
