Gamelan is the most popular form of music in Indonesia, consisting of a group of percussion instruments including metallophones and gongs. A traditional gamelan orchestra has 30-50 members playing various pitched percussion instruments. Gamelan music is considered sacred in Indonesia and plays an important role in rituals and ceremonies.
