The survey results show that the target audience has a variety of musical interests so the magazine should include different types of music. Most respondents would spend under £1 on a music magazine and prefer value for money over cost. A small majority prefer weekly issues to monthly. 32% would read a 1-100 page magazine which was surprising as most thought readers would want more content. Magazine covers are the biggest attraction followed by content then any free CDs. While 21% buy specialist magazines, most do not read magazines outside their preferred music genre. Brand name is not a major factor for most readers in choosing a magazine. About half attend gigs and festivals regularly so these should be featured. Opinions are split on physical vs downloaded music.
