Ernest Zacharevic is a Lithuanian artist who painted murals in George Town, Penang as part of the George Town Festival 2012. The murals depict scenes of everyday life in George Town's inner city from the past, including "The Awaiting Trishaw Pedaler" showing a man resting on his trishaw, "Little Children on a Bicycle" of two children riding a bike, and "Boy on a Bike" featuring a boy on a discarded motorcycle. The paintings celebrate life in the inner city from older times and reflect how transportation methods like trishaws, bicycles and motorcycles were commonly used.

This mural painting depicts the life of two young child
enjoying a bicycle ride which is rarely seen nowadays.
Back in the days, bicycle rides seem to be one of the
things that made us gather together and have fun but it
has now become abandoned as it has been replaced by
mobile phones, tabs and other technologies. This painting
features how kids back then enjoy themselves by having
a simple yet joyful bicycle ride.

10. This photo features the life of a trishaw pedaler spending his free time resting
on his own trishaw. Nowadays trishaw has become a mode of transportation
for tourist to venture around Penang island. Back in the days, trishaws were
used to transport people with higher status and the rich. This mode of
transportation has been passed down since then but with a little twist, it has
now become a public transport around Penang Island mainly for tourist
attraction.

This painting has become popular due to its inclusion
“prop” which attracts attention of passerby. The
preparation of the painting involves sourcing for a disused
motorcycle. Back in the days, kids were illegally allowed
to ride their parent’s motorcycle to seek for a living.

14. All these paintings reflects the olden days of Penang,
transports like trishaws, bicycles and motorcycles were
widely used in the town.
