THE ELECTORATE
I - QUALIFICATION OF ELECTORS
• Cameroonian
• Age Of 20 (Twenty) Years,
• Registered On An Electoral Register
• Shall Be Entitled To Be An Elector.
ELECTORAL DISQUALIFICATIONS
• sentenced to a term of imprisonment, of more
than 3 (three) months
• is the subject of a warrant of arrest
• shall not be entered on the electoral register.
ELECTORAL COMMISSIONS
A - Commissions Charged with the Revision of Electoral
Registers
• Chairperson: a representative of Elecam, appointed
• Members:
• - a representative of the Administration, appointed
• - the Mayor, or a Deputy Mayor or a Municipal Councillor,
appointed by the Mayor;
• - a representative of each legalized political party operating

B - Commissions charged with supervising
the issuance and distribution of voter cards
• Chairperson: a representative of Elecam, appointed
• Members:
• - a representative of the Administration, appointed
• - the Mayor, or a Deputy Mayor or a Municipal Councillor,
appointed by the Mayor;
• - a representative of each legalized political party operating

• Members:
• - a representative of the Administration, appointed

LOCAL POLLING COMMISSIONS
During vote counting,
• Representatives of candidates, not present at
the time of commencement of polling and have
been replaced by the Chairperson, shall not be
entitled to sit on the Local Polling Commission.
DIVISIONAL SUPERVISORY
COMMISSIONS
• Chairperson: he President of the High Court with territorial jurisdiction.

• - 3 representative of the Administration, appointed
• - 3 representative of the Elecam, appointed
• - a representative of each candidate, list of candidates or political party.

• - 1 (one) representative of each candidate or political party
Final Counting of Votes is hereby set up.
PROVISIONS SPECIFIC TO THE ELECTION
OF MUNICIPAL COUNCILLORS
TERM OF OFFICE AND POLLING
• 5 (five) years
• They shall be eligible for re-election.
• election shall take place 20 (twenty) days before
• The term of office shall commence the day of the first
session held on the second Tuesday
• The President of the Republic may extend or abridge the
term of office, for a period not exceeding 18 (eighteen)
months

Municipal councillors

After the ballot :
• the list that obtains an absolute majority of the
votes cast shall win all the seats available
• if no list obtains an absolute majority of the votes
cast, the seats shall be shared as follows:
After the ballot :
• List with highest number of votes shall be allocated
half of the seats rounded off,
• a tie between 2 (two) or more lists, shall be
allocated to the list with the highest average age
• the remaining seats shall be allocated to the other
lists, proportional representation to the lists with
the highest votes
• less than 5% shall not be eligible for seat

  • #12 The term of office of municipal councillors shall commence on the day of the first session held as of right following the proclamation of the results of the election. The said session shall hold on the second Tuesday following the proclamation of results. SECTION 170.- (1) All the seats of municipal councillors shall be renewed every 5 (five) years at the same date.
