As we all know that day by there is increase in traffic
congestion due to increase in number of vehicles on nearby
region. For the betterment of the reduction in congestion in
this particular region .We proposed Design of Multi-storey
Car Parking in the most crowded areas to construct this
parking building of (G2).Multi-storey Car Parking is a
method of parking and retrieving cars .The intention is to
compact more cars in the same space, Reduce the space
needed to park the same number of cars. Car parks can be
situated above or below ground or a combination of both.
This makes the system modernized and thus space saving one.
Multistory car parking systems helps to minimize
the parking area. In the modern world where parking space
has become a very big problem, it has become very important
to avoid the wastage of space in modern big companies and
apartments etc in places where more than 100 cars need to be
parked . This system proves to be useful in reducing wastage
of space . This car parking enables the parking of vehicles
,floor after floor and thus reducing the space used. Here are
numbers of cars can be parked according to the requirement
these makes the system modernized and thus space-saving
one. This idea is developed using 8051 microcontroller.
๏‚ž The idea behind this work is to prepare a detailed plan of
Multi-Storied Car Parking with provision for parking area in
each floor (G+2). The total area of the Parking system is 5000
m2. All the important amenities for a Car Parking have been
included. The design of all components such as Slab, Beams,
Columns and Footing has been done with aid of STAAD
PRO. The access to each floor has been provided using ramp.
๏‚ž A rapid reconnaissance survey was carried out to identify the
best suitable location along Nagercoil. The site identified is
suitably selected to cater to the parking need of the main
commercial followed by institutional and residential areas..
The proposed site is suitably located around 700m from the
proposed lake neutral project site. Multilevel parking
complexes should be made mandatory requirements in the
city center that have several high-rise commercial buildings.
The investments in such a parking facility can be made viable
through user charges. Commercial complexes with state of the
art parking facilities can come up through PPP. This project
will help to recover the cost of urban space in the parking of
personal vehicles.
๏‚ž To analysis and design a multi-level car parking.
๏‚ž To estimate the total level of construction.
๏‚ž To provide easily and safe accessible area for car parking.
๏‚ž Design a model in Staad pro
๏‚ž To use for reduce traffic
๏‚ž To use for Future population
The number of vehicles has increased on roads .Lacking the
facility of parking in regional town. Vehicles are being parked
along the highway sides, residential roadway, pathway and
green points of the roads. Frequent traffic jams due to
irregular parking. In our regional town parking area is
unplanned for four-wheeler vehicles. So, there is a need to
make an improvement in the parking area by constructing
Multi-storied car Parking.
๏‚ž The number of cars and other vehicles has increased on roads
of all city of the world. The rural roads construction in the
past in old new way has proved competent to accommodate
increases number of vehicles. Our regional towns is also
lacking the facility of parking, due to which the vehicles are
being parked along the highway sides, residential roadway,
pathway and green points of the roads which causes frequent
traffic jams. The precious time of workers and local public.
๏‚ž Type of building - multi storey car parking
๏‚ž Size of the buliding -74m x65m
๏‚ž Area of the building - 4810 sq.m
๏‚ž Each floor height -3m
๏‚ž Ramp Size -27m x 4.5m
๏‚ž Space between the each car -2.5m x 5m
๏‚ž A building which reduces the space for parking and
also accommodates a large number of vehicles. The
study presents the design of a multi-level car parking
for the mitigation of traffic challenges in public areas.
The area of the building is 5000 m2. The building is
connected at one level and the levels of other floors are
different. All floors are designed to accommodate
vehicles. The automatic car parking system enables the
parking of vehicles floor after floor and thus reduce the
space These makes the system modernized and thus
space-saving one. The plan for this building was
prepared using Auto CAD software. The analysis of
the frame was carried out for vertical and horizontal
loads using STAAD.
๏‚ž SLAB
The most common type of structural element used to cover floors
and roofs of buildings is a reinforced concrete slab.
๏‚ž CLASSIFICATION OF SLABS
The slabs are classified into the following types. They are
๏‚– One-way slab
๏‚– Two-way slab
๏‚– Flat slabs
๏‚– Grid slabs
LOADS ON SLABS
Generally the design of horizontal slabs two types of loads are
considered as below
SLAB DESIGN
The slab which has the maximum span
has the maximum moment and hence the
detailing result for such span can be used for
all other spans as well as. The slab with
maximum dimensions in our plan 5.00 m x
5.00 m each span has been continuously
provided, which is an interior panel. The
design of this particular slab is given in this
chapter.
Beams are the members on which the slabs. Beams are horizontal
members over which slabs rest. There actions from the slab get transferred
to the beams. The loading for a Beam given as a uniformly distributed
load. The weight of overlying walls also gets transferred to the beams.
There are two types of beams. They are as follows-
Plinth beams.
Roof beams.
LOADS ON BEAMS
As mentioned above the loads on the slab are considered to be
uniformly distributed load. The beams are subjected to bending and
develops bending stresses. The beams are designed for Flexural resistance
and are checked for safety against deflection. The loads which are
considered for design are as follows:
Dead load
Live load
Wall load
Columns are the vertical members of a structure. The columns support
the beams present in the building. There actions of the beams are
transferred as loads to the column. The loading for a column is given
as an axial load. The types of columns are as follows:
Short column
Long column
LOADS ON COLUMNS
As mentioned above the load to the columns are given as axial loads.
The column is subjected to axial stresses. But there are also columns
with uniaxial bending and biaxial bending the loads which are
considered for the design are as follows
Dead load
Live load
A inclined plane is also known as ramp is a flat supporting
surface tilted at an angle with one end higher than other, used as a aid
for raising or lowering a load. The inclined plane is one of the six
classical simple machines defined by renaissance scientists. Inclined
planes are widely used to move heavy loads over vertical obstacles,
examples, vary from a ramp used to load good into trucks.
Moving an object up an inclined plane requires less force than lifting it
straight up at cost of an increased in a distance moved. Due to
conversion of energy the same amount of mechanical energy is
required to lift an object by a vertical distance disregarding losses
from friction but the inclined plane allow the same work to be done
with a smaller force exerted over a greater distance.
The angle of friction also sometimes called as angle of repose is
the maximum angle at which a load can rest motionless on an inclined
plane due to friction without sliding down. This angle is equal to the
coefficient of static friction between the surface.
๏‚ž The moments of the vehicle between the floor can be affected
by:
๏‚ž The appropriate steepness, length and width
๏‚ž The distance between landings.
๏‚ž Likely users and the mode of assistance they are likely to require
๏‚ž Surface materials
๏‚ž Approach and access on to the ramp
๏‚ž The positions of handrails and barriers
๏‚ž Placements of door handle and the swing direction of doors
๏‚ž Impact of ramp on available space and so on
๏‚ž Cost
๏‚ž Compliance with the building regulations
๏‚ž The available of alternative means of access
๏‚ž A building which reduce the space for parking and also
accommodates a large number of vehicles. The study
presents the study of the multilevel car parking for the
mitigation of traffic challenges in public areas.
๏‚ž The area of building is 5000 m2 .All floors are
accommodate 50 vehicles .These makes the system
modernized and thus space saving one.
๏‚ž The plan for this building was prepared using auto CAD
software .It analysis of the frame was carried out for
vertical and horizontal loads using STAAD PRO.
๏‚ž The structural elements like slab ,beam ,columns footing,
staircase and ramp has been designed and detailed.
๏‚ž A city like Nagercoil has over five million cars and two-
wheelers on its roads, but not enough parking spaces. The
demand for parking space has, on an average in the main
markets of Delhi, outstripped demand by 43 per cent. It is not
just a problem of Delhi or Mumbai; all the big cities in India
are facing the space crunch.
๏‚ž Multi-storey car parks provide lower building cost per
parking slot, as they typically require less building volume
and less ground area than a conventional facility with the
same capacity.
๏‚ž A multi-storey car parks offer greatest possible flexibility for
the realization of optimum parking solution. Time-saving
vertical and horizontal movements take place simultaneously
ensuring fast parking and retrieval times.
๏‚ž Drivers who use multi-story parking facilities, sometimes
known as parking garages, often enjoy a number of benefits
the structures provide.
๏‚ž Despite the ability of the garages to house a large number of
cars, multi-story parking facilities also carry a number of
distinct disadvantages that arise from their tall, enclosed and
often dimly lit nature.
๏‚ž The traffic congestion problem can be regulated by
providing multi storey parking at city. We hope this
project will serve as a solution to various traffic
congestion problems.
๏‚ž We have designed a multilevel parking building using
the concept of framed structure which will survive the
purpose of traffic congestion.
๏‚ž This system can help in economy and security based
aspects for the society.
๏‚ž This system have been focus on improving the parking
system to be suitable for the life style.

  • 2. As we all know that day by there is increase in traffic congestion due to increase in number of vehicles on nearby region. For the betterment of the reduction in congestion in this particular region .We proposed Design of Multi-storey Car Parking in the most crowded areas to construct this parking building of (G2).Multi-storey Car Parking is a method of parking and retrieving cars .The intention is to compact more cars in the same space, Reduce the space needed to park the same number of cars. Car parks can be situated above or below ground or a combination of both. This makes the system modernized and thus space saving one.
  • 3. Multistory car parking systems helps to minimize the parking area. In the modern world where parking space has become a very big problem, it has become very important to avoid the wastage of space in modern big companies and apartments etc in places where more than 100 cars need to be parked . This system proves to be useful in reducing wastage of space . This car parking enables the parking of vehicles ,floor after floor and thus reducing the space used. Here are numbers of cars can be parked according to the requirement these makes the system modernized and thus space-saving one. This idea is developed using 8051 microcontroller.
  • 4. ๏‚ž The idea behind this work is to prepare a detailed plan of Multi-Storied Car Parking with provision for parking area in each floor (G+2). The total area of the Parking system is 5000 m2. All the important amenities for a Car Parking have been included. The design of all components such as Slab, Beams, Columns and Footing has been done with aid of STAAD PRO. The access to each floor has been provided using ramp.

The site identified is suitably selected to cater to the parking need of the main commercial followed by institutional and residential areas.. The proposed site is suitably located around 700m from the proposed lake neutral project site. Multilevel parking complexes should be made mandatory requirements in the city center that have several high-rise commercial buildings. The investments in such a parking facility can be made viable through user charges. Commercial complexes with state of the art parking facilities can come up through PPP. This project will help to recover the cost of urban space in the parking of personal vehicles.

  • 23. SLAB DESIGN The slab which has the maximum span has the maximum moment and hence the detailing result for such span can be used for all other spans as well as. The slab with maximum dimensions in our plan 5.00 m x 5.00 m each span has been continuously provided, which is an interior panel. The design of this particular slab is given in this chapter.
