Value of Integration: Results from a Benchmark StudyMuleSoft
Chief architects and CIOs know that API-led connectivity drives business and IT agility. The Agility Benchmark Report describes agility and its value by breaking it down into its components and presents results from a study of 18 MuleSoft customers. This session will provide a practical approach to presenting the value of API-led connectivity within your organizations.
Why mobile projects require API-led connectivityMuleSoft
94% of organizations either have or are working on a mobility strategy, but IT departments are struggling to build and deliver mobile applications as fast as the business demands them. API-led connectivity will help enterprises achieve the speed, productivity, and operational efficiency necessary for a successful mobile strategy.
One of the greatest challenges to developing an API is ensuring that your API lasts. After all, you don’t want to have to release and manage multiple versions of your API just because you weren’t expecting users to use it a certain way, or because you didn’t anticipate far enough down the roadmap. In this session, we’ll talk about the challenge of API Longevity, as well as ways to increase your API lifecycle including having a proper mindset, careful design, agile user experience and prototyping, best design practices including hypermedia, and the challenge of maintaining persistence.
The ability to be agile, offer great customer experiences, and create innovations can often hit a roadblock with EDI. The messaging standard, known for its complexity, can slow business processes and reduce innovation.
In this presentation, you'll learn how Redwood Logistics, an integrated transportation and logistics company based in Chicago, has partnered with MuleSoft to not only innovate on top of EDI, but harness digital transformation to create an entirely new platform service offering.

Four Ways that Technology is Remolding the Digital Supply ChainCognizant
Industry 4.0 ideals challenge supply chains to deliver advanced capabilities beyond those inherent in typical operating functions. Emerging digital technologies are enabling processes, partners, products and services to work harmoniously to enhance today’s highly interconnected and networked supply chain.
In e-commerce applications, the cloud can contribute enormously in enhancing business processes leading to better economic value for the business enterprise. BpaaS based eCommerce an application has emerged in recent years as a new paradigm for hosting and offering complex operations using a cloud service delivery model. However, in order for the clients to trust external services for sensitive business processes, they must be assured that the transactional integrity of the service complies with their own business policies. To provide this trust, I propose a configuration method that allows clients to ensure their transactional requirements will not be violated, while configuring the activities, resources, and data objects used in the service. The temporal logic templates use to elicit transactional requirements from clients and they formalize transactional requirements using the expressive and easy-to-use template set. The service is then configured and verified by binary decision diagram analysis and model checking.
[White Paper] Can Software-Defined Networking (SDN) Enhance Operator Monetiza...Cisco Service Provider
Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is generating a lot of excitement, primarily as a way to simplify networking. It comes to the industry at a time when growing demand,
greater service diversity, and increasing infrastructure complexity have challenged the ability of network operators to turn up and take down services quickly. By abstracting control from forwarding, SDN gives network operators more flexible and ostensibly more responsive central control of network traffic through a programmable network.

PaaS is a new category of cloud computing services that provides a platform allowing customers to develop, run, and manage applications without the complexity of building and maintaining the infrastructure. PaaS can be delivered in two ways:
• as a public cloud service from a provider, where the consumer controls software deployment and configuration settings, and the provider provides the networks, servers, storage and other services to host the consumer's application; or
• as software installed in private data centers or public infrastructure as a service and managed by internal IT departments
Contemporary research challenges and applications of service oriented archite...Dr. Shahanawaj Ahamad
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is distributed architectural framework that provides service-based
solutions for improving the effectiveness of enterprise’s IT infrastructure. In this framework, technical and
business processes are implemented as services. A service is an independent software application that has been
designed to perform a specific function with emphasis on loose coupling between interacting services and their
components. SOA permits developers to utilize many of the resources from existing services to form the
distributed applications. This study has investigated to highlight the emerging issues of SOA such as service
structures advancement, requirements of evolution for current age applications like mobile-cloud, medical and
mechanism for interoperable operations. The paper also uncovers the practical application domains of SOA. It
has identified research attentions in these domains with detection of issues to carry further research to
overcome constraints in current scenarios.
During the recent London MuleSoft Summit, we asked CIOs, IT leaders, integration architects and development leads to tell us about their progress with integrating their systems and applications. This is what they told us.
Effective performance engineering is a critical factor in delivering meaningful results. The implementation must be built into every aspect of the business, from IT and business management to internal and external customers and all other stakeholders. Convetit brought together ten experts in the field of performance engineering to delve into the trends and drivers that are defining the space. This Foresights discussion will directly influence Business and Technology Leaders that are looking to stay ahead of the challenges they face with delivering high performing systems to their end users, today and in the next 2-5 years.
The Big Three tech trends—mobility, cloud computing and the
Internet of Things—show that the world is truly going digital. As a
result, organizations need to begin operating at the speed of digital, especially if the business is to take advantage of real-time, alwayson connections within a data-rich environment.
Mobility in particular is at the heart of the digital customer
experience, with users increasingly spending more time with their
devices. And the mobile theme of always-on, always-available further increases the need for organizations to embrace truly agile approaches to development, expanding the definition of becoming quicker and more adaptive. Mobility also relies on an ecosystem of applications and systems to deliver desired, compelling customer experiences. It requires that front-end mobile apps as well as other applications in the ecosystem move at lightning speed.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert
In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.

Key Challenges
Companies must embrace digital transformation in order to stay
relevant to their customers, else risk ceding market share to
competitors who are able to adapt more quickly.
• At its core, digital transformation is driving companies to reframe their
relationships with their customers, suppliers and employees through
leveraging new technologies to engage in ways that were not possible
before.
• These new technologies - SaaS, mobile, and the Internet of Things
(IoT) - demand a new level of connectivity that cannot be achieved with
yesterday’s integration approaches.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Providing an External HTTP or HTTPS Port
• Adopt an API-led connectivity approach that packages underlying
connectivity and orchestration services as easily discoverable and
reusable building blocks, exposed by APIs.
• Structure these building blocks across distinct systems, process
and
experience layers, to achieve both greater organizational agility and
greater control.
• Drive technology change holistically across people, processes and
systems in an incremental fashion.

MICROSERVICES
Providing an External HTTP or HTTPS Port
Microservices are a hot topic amongst enterprise architecture
leaders. In our view, we believe that microservices not only
validate a service oriented approach but are in fact one
interpretation of how that approach should be implemented, by
taking the need for well-defined services and re-usability to an
extreme. In doing so, it highlights the need for governance,
and that successful implementation must also consider
nontechnology
factors such as development processes and
methodologies. In this way, the principles and approach
behind API-led connectivity are entirely consistent with a
Microservices approach and vice versa.

API-LED CONNECTIVITY
Providing an External HTTP or HTTPS Port
The evolution of SOA
While connectivity demands have changed, the central tenets of SOA
have not, that is, the distillation of software into services that are
welldefined,
re-usable and discoverable.
This vision is perhaps even more important given the proliferation of
endpoints. The complexity of providing multiple stakeholders
customized
views of the same underlying data source, whether it be a core
banking
system or an ERP system, increases exponentially with the number of
channels through which that data must be provided. It also reinforces
the need for data at the point of consumption to be decoupled and
independent from the source data in the system of record, becoming
variously more coarse-grained or fine-grained as the use case
requires.
