UN Sustainability Goal # 4 (of 17) Good
education for all
 Ensure an inclusive and equal education of good quality and promote lifelong learning for all
 Education is a fundamental human right. Despite this, 774 million people in the world are still estimated to be unable to write and
read, of which two-thirds are women. Research shows that inclusive education of good quality for all is one of the most important
foundations for prosperity, health and equality in every society.
 Education systems around the world must meet people's needs throughout their lives - from preschool, elementary school, high
school and higher education, as well as all people's equal opportunities for lifelong learning that favors participation in work and
social life. Education is the key to prosperity and opens a world of opportunities that enable each of us to contribute to a
sustainable society.
 Milestones:
 4.1 - Free and equivalent primary and secondary education of good quality
 4.2 - Equal access to good quality preschool
 4.3 - Equal access to vocational training and higher quality education
 4.4 - Increase the number of people with financial security skills
 4.5 - Eradicating discrimination in education
 4.6 - All people should be able to read, write and count
 4.7 - Education for sustainable development and global citizenship
 4.A - Create inclusive and safe educational environments
 4.B - Increase the number of scholarships for higher education for developing countries
 4.C - Increase the number of educated teachers in developing countries
Sweden's plan for meeting Objective 4
 Sweden will be a leader in the implementation of Agenda 2030, at home and globally.
The implementation entails a gradual transition of Sweden as a modern welfare state.
Sweden will be transformed into the world's first fossil-free welfare country. Sweden
must be an international model for economic, social and environmental sustainability,
with a coherent policy that takes into account poor people's perspectives and human
rights.
 Agenda 2030 is a matter for the whole community. In order for Sweden to continue to
show the way to sustainable development, the entire community must be involved.
Everyone should be there and no one should be left outside!
 Sweden's implementation of UN Sustainability Goal # 4 - Good education for all - Ensure
an inclusive and equal quality education and promote lifelong learning for all:
 The government works for an equal knowledge school
 The government works for a high-quality university that reaches people throughout life and
throughout the country
 Sweden should be a leading knowledge nation
 The government is active in the international work for education and training for sustainable
development
MUK 2006-2008
 Motivation-Education-Career in 2006-2008:
 The initiative started in 2006, as a non-profit educational aid to support the former high school
students to proactive choices for further studies to higher education / universities and to
ensure that participants got better conditions in the labor market.
 The target group was Swedish-born Kazakh high school students who were facing further study
choices. Appr. 15 high school students
 In order to show the breadth of different professions and education that exists in Sweden,
guest lecturers who were themselves Swedish-born Kazakhs, participated in different ages and
professionals from different industries. The lecturers informed about their professional choices,
what they influence with their knowledge and experience, and about their respective
educational choices, etc.
 The training support was carried out as a project in 2006, 2007 and 2008, with gatherings 1
times / month. The agenda of the meetings was lecturers and motivational group exercises and
discussions
 The project manager / coach was Aysu Ugus, responsible for the needs analysis, planning,
implementation, documentation, communication, experience feedback and for analysis and
planning for continuation / further development of the project.
MUK 2019
Purpose and plan
 MUK 2019 - Motivation-Education-Knowledge exchange in 2019:
 Non-profit educational support to awaken the interest of young people to study further after compulsory school, regardless of
gender, to continue to integrate young students into the Swedish education system and the Swedish business community.
 The target group is Swedish-born Kazakh youth who are facing a wider choice of study, i.e those who choose upper secondary
school and / or university. Appr. 25 students (Secondary school Year 8 + 9 + Upper secondary school)
 To be able to show the breadth of different professions and education available in Sweden, guest lecturers (50% from MUK 2006-
2008) who are Swedish-born Kazakhs themselves, of different ages and professionals in different industries participate. The
lecturers will inform about their professional choices, what they influence with their knowledge and experience, and about their
respective educational choices etc.
 To capture young people's interest in individually proactive choices, lectures including group / discussion exercises are conducted
on each occasion. The group exercises should be motivational, leadership development and knowledge exchange
 The training support is implemented as a project in 2019, with gatherings / lectures 1 time / month

private sectors in Sweden:
 Arman Yasin Keser
 Aysu Ugus
 The project managers are also coaches, they are responsible for the needs analysis, planning, implementation, documentation,

MUK 2020
Proposed implementation
How? Why?
There is interest in continuing  Responsible coaches good if they continue push and keep MUK together
 Inspires young people and adults. Schools and programs upper secondary school / college may
sometimes become difficult to understand, good with guidance and references
The lecturers will be high school and
college students in 2019 + 2020
 Younger lecturers with whom you can identify better, those who are still studying, because they can
tell you about the schools' programs, etc.
 Young people can coach each other
 Several questions and discussions may occur
 Equality - Both girls and guys
The participants will be all kazakh
families
 For students to get more and clearer support from home in their future choices, good that parents
and siblings are also involved in MUK, open up for families to be able to influence and help
Larger groups with at least 3 lecturers
per opportunity (Mix Gymnasium /
College students per occasion)
 Get proactive and individually related study / future issues
 Exchange experiences with each other
 Help and coach each other
Number of occasions and times  Continue Saturdays (free days from school and work, greater opportunity / interest in increased
participation)
 3 hours / Opportunity with work exercises / quiz's gives good time for presentations, reflections,
networking, smaller work exercises

Editor's Notes
