Analysis Of Star Wars
Star Wars: A Fantasy Not So Far From Reality
Star Wars, the single most recognizable science fiction experience to the date, hides a substantial
amount of real life issues, and borrows a great deal from real life history. While feasting these
senses, a lot can be gained by analyzing the saga, specifically A New Hope and The Phantom
Menace by George Lucas. Ironic themes exist in the saga in the likes of an oppressive government,
the horrid results of such governments, a strong presence of theology all which demonstrates
parallelism of real life; borrowing from some of history s most notable governments, events, and
theologies. From the first installment of Star Wars, it is overtly operant of George Lucas intentions

War, murder, and neglect all chief contributors to this astounding death toll backed by the
nefarious likes of Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, and vast number of omitted others
due to the length of the proverbial list. In Lucas first film, A New Hope, the empire destroys an
entire planet, annihilating countless lives, and shows a distasteful lack of morality. A simple
theme here genocide and utter disregard for human life, and the dangerous of such power in the
wrong hands. Lucas plays heavily on the audiences emotions with the destruction of the planet
Aldaaran. The decision to destroy the planet is made over a strategic demonstration of force and
to leverage to get the Rebel princess, Leigh, to divulge information (Episode I). The dramatic
screenplay displays a force with overwhelming power and how dangerous it could be in the hands
of force not checked, and likely has an inspired parallel event and a cautionary tale of what the
future may hold. August 6, 1945, Hiroshima, around 8:15 AM, nearly 80,000 people face the wrath
of United States, and pay with their lives to a bomb nicknamed little boy . Another is dropped, fat
man , and another 36,00 perish (Shi 1127). The events that unfolded that day have been, and will
continue to be argued for eternity, however, ethics aside, draws strong connections to a growing
militarized world and the concern that comes with such advancements. In modern times, the

The Black Panther Party Formed
The Black Panther Party formed as a result of Black Nationalism which came from a multitude
of events that began to form decades before any mention of The Black Panther Party. To even
begin to understand a group such as this, one must first attempt to grasp the historical context
which lies behind them. Blake (1969) asserts that the initial onset began back in 1619 when the
first of the colonial settlers accepted a number of captured Africans which were to be used as
servants leading to the period of slavery which serves as a sore spot in this country s history. One
of the primary streams of thought behind this idea of Black Nationalism can be summed up as
the hypocrisy felt by African Americans during the era of slavery as well as after it s end. These
are a race of people characterized by their looks and were not given the same rights within the
society, yet at the same time, were expected to meet the standards of regular citizens within the
country creating that sense of inferiority. Emanating from this complex was the earliest form of
Black Nationalism during the nineteenth century in which blacks wanted to separate themselves
from America (Essien Udom, 1962). This was a period known as Classical Black Nationalism,
where the objective, as stated previously, was the foundation of a sovereign state. With the unequal
treatment occurring within the United States, the earliest forms of this type of nationalism could be
seen in the early slave revolts. Goals of

Observation Of Teaching A Teacher s Classroom
I have a good friend, Courtney, who is doing her student teaching in a fourth grade classroom at
Faubion elementary school, and she arranged for me to come in to observe her cooperating
teacher s classroom. On Friday, December 1st at 10 o clock I had the opportunity to observe Mrs.
Makara s classroom for 45 minutes while the class was doing readingstations. The class is
organized into six table groups with five students in each group. Mrs. Makara s overhead screen
hangs in the front of the room near her table. I noticed that the class was arranged this way in
order for all the students to all easily see the screen as well as collaborate with one another for
the assignments and projects that are assigned in class. When I came into the classroom Mrs.
Makara was finishing up teaching a math lesson. She was using a document camera to project the
worksheet that students had in front of them on screen. She was also using a microphone while
talking to the class. Courtney later informed me that was because one of their students has a
hearing impairment so both Courtney and Mrs. Makara use the microphone when speaking to the
class. Mrs. Makara assigned a couple of math problems for the students to work with their table
groups to figure out. After each group figured out the answer to the problem Mrs. Makara asked
for one volunteer to come up and project their work on the overhead projector. The student showed
her work and talked through how her group figured out the solution. Afterward, Mrs. Makara asked
all the students to put away their math work and get ready for readingstations.
While the students were working to put away their math work Mrs. Makara used her computer to
pull up a slide showing the different reading stations. When I asked my friend about how the
students were split into groups she informed me that they split them up based on their reading
levels because in their class the reading levels are at a wide spectrum. There are some students
who are reading at a sixth grade level and others that are reading at a K 1 level. Therefore, the only
way they could differentiate reading instruction was by splitting the students into groups based on
their reading levels and having them go to the stations that

Teaching And Classroom Management Styles
When I took the surveys, I surprised to see how even keeled my teaching and classroom
management styles were. Before student teaching, I had a general idea of what my ideal teaching
style and classroom management techniques would look like. However, I have realized that a
combination of several teaching styles may be beneficial for students because each studenthas
particular needs for the classroom. According to the teaching style inventory, I can be described as
a facilitator first and foremost, followed by a formal authorityfigure, personal model, and delegator.
According to Grasha, a facilitator can be described as a teacher who enhances the personal nature of
student teacher interactions (143). Facilitators are often guiding entities for students because they
encourage independent work (Grasha 143). In my teaching, I have always thought that student
independence is the ultimate goal. I do not wantto be the sole source of knowledge in the
classroom. Every student has something important to say. In addition to my focus on individual
needs, I still possess qualities of a more traditional classroom teacher. I agree with part of Grasha s
analysis of a formal authority figure; formal authority figures are concerned with establishing
learning goals, expectations, and rules of conduct for students (143). Students need some
consistency and expectations for how to operate in a classroom environment. If this is not provided,
there will be chaos. My teaching style includes

show a man chained to the dump truck while a beautiful women waves a whopper in front of his
face. The manthen begins to pull the entire dump truck to get to not only the burger but also to

helps to see this issue from a different perspective and thus giving me a better understanding.
Burger king has been around for over 50 years and have been establishing a network of loyal
customers from the start. Many advertisements from decades ago use the same male dominance and
objectification of women I see in ads today. Burger King is the second largest fast food company in
the world. I can see how a huge corporation such as burger king would not want to erase 50+ years
of creating brand loyalty especially considering the success of the company. Burger king as a
business is weary of a complete re branding due to the possibility of the new ideas being rejected by

Ancient Cultures Beliefs
Way back in the ancient cultures beliefs and faith played a major roll in their lifetime. It
treasured the art that spoke to them and made them closer to god, since writing was not indicate
back then. Some believed in only one god, some in many gods and some people believed in
objects like animals, the sun, items and even the weather. After visiting the Kimbell Art Museum
in Fort Worth and observing some of the ancient Egyptian art collection displayed, I have
decided to pick the theme of God to inform about. After my research, I discovered new and
different key points about the Egyptian beliefs in god and how it affects us in our world today.
My first object is the Kneeling Statue of Senenmut, Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut, the
second object is Red Figure Cup Showing the Death of Pentheus (exterior) and a Maenad (interior)
and the last object is the Head of a Ewe.
The first object that I have picked while I was at the museum is the Kneeling Statue of Senenmut,
Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut. It is said that it was created in the early 18th century between
the years 1473 1458 B.C. The instant I walked in into the Ancient Egyptian collection I couldn t
take my eye off of that sculpture, due to that being it was probably the the darkest object there.
The kneeling Statue of Senenmut was engraved from a grayish green stone, I like this object
because, all the achievement and work that Senenmut have done in his life was carved all over this
object. One of my dislikes is

Research Paper On Sisters Of The Gion
Sisters of the Gion was an interesting black and white Japanese film by Kenji Mizoguchi. Kenji
Mizoguchi was a director that had themes of female sexual exploitation and male interference
with feminist intimation (Gleich). This film showed how women was treated in the society of the
1930 s. During this time period women did not have a lot of say over there lifestyle. An element
that I found engaging was camera techniques that Mizoguchi used. Sisters of the Gion had a lot of
long shots and slow pacing. This may have been a slow place filmbecause it was contemporary art.
In the beginning of the film Mizoguchi opens Sisters of the Gion with a bunch of men that seems to
be having an auction to collect valuables (women). This camera movement

President Hoover s New Deal Essay
Prosperity is just around the corner, President Herbert Hoover announces, as the country fell into
the Great Depression of the 1930s. Unable to recognize citizens, Hoover was kicked out of office
and Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected as president, which resulted the start of great social upheaval
through the presentation of the New Deal. The New Deal ran from 1933 to 1937 under two stages.
First, he set about offering relief to its people, then after 1935, he set profound agendas for social
reform, which was specifically a socio economic reform agenda that was made up of a host of
legislative initiatives and government programs, launched by President Roosevelt supported by
Congress in response to Great Depression. The New Deal composed of the three R s: relief for
those Americans unemployed, recovery towards the economy allowing businesses to operate
again, and reform economy in preventing replicating situations. President Roosevelt s New Deal
was guided by four principles, set of ideas and beliefs that formed the New Deal Agenda, which
were to balance production and consumption, reform capitalism, to alleviate the inequalities of
wealth, and to counterbalance the power of big corporation with government programs and public
interest. The New Deal is significant because programs and initiatives were created in providing
channels for the working people to gain more access to work. In order to transform society, the
New Deal constructed a sense of economic prosperity

The Presentation of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman by...
The Presentation of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
Willy Loman is presented as both a tragic hero and an unconscious victim in Death of a Salesman .
Death of a Salesman is very much based upon the American Dream, and whether we are slaves or
conquerors of this dream. This is an idea that the playwright Arthur Miller has very passionately
pursued both through Willy s own eyes, and through his interaction with the different characters in
the play.
Firstly, the definitions of a hero and a victim very much influence the way that Willy is viewed by
the audience. Miller has not used the play to suggest that Willy Loman is an ordinary hero, but
more a tragic hero. A tragic hero,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the contrary, we are not immediately introduced to this delusional, flaky character. At the
beginning of scene one, we see the more assertive side of Willy as he discusses business
possibilities with his wife Willy. Miller balances out the audience s perception of Willy towards
the end of the act where the more vulnerable side of Willy is illustrated, with the use of his
behaviour and the response of others to his attitude. An example of this would be Linda diligently
agreeing with Willy s strange statements.
One of Willy s traits which qualify him as a hero is his eternal sacrifice, and the way that he
throws everything into the balance in order to secure his rightful place in society, and to live the
American Dream. These sacrifices are perfectly illustrated by the long distance that Willy travels
in order to sell his stock. At the start of the play, Linda comments on his driving up to New
England to which Willy responds: I m the New England man. I m vital in New England. Miller
makes clever use of the language here, in order to present quite a heroic view of

Essay On Alexander Mcqueen
Lee Alexander McQueen, CBE (17 March 1969 11 February 2010) was a British fashion designer
and couturier. He is known for having worked as chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001
and for founding his own Alexander McQueen label. His achievements in fashion earned him
four British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003), as well as the CFDA s
International Designer of the Year award in 2003. McQueen committed suicide in 2010 at the age
of forty. [1]
McQueen was known for his lavish, unconventional runway shows. McQueen has been credited
with bringing drama and extravagance to the catwalk. He used new technology and innovation to
add a different twist to his shows and often shocked and surprised audiences. The silhouettes that
he created have been credited for adding a sense of fantasy and rebellion to fashion.
AVAT GARDE The brand ideology was never conventional and the designer almost always

Analyzing Sandro Botticelli s The Birth Of Venus
Introduction
The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli was painted between 1482 and 1485 (UFFIZI, n.d.).
Commissioned by the Medici family, it depicts Venus floating on a seashell. To her right is
Zephyrus, God of Winds, with Aura. To her left is Horae, Goddess of the Seasons, waiting to
receive her with a flower embroidered robe. In the Roman myth, Venus was conceived when the
god Uranus was castrated by his son Titan Cronus and his severed genitals fertilized the sea. The
scene in The Birth of Venus depicts the moment that Venus emerges from the sea in a seashell and
lands at Paphos in Cyprus. For the painting, Botticelli was inspired by a few verses of poetry by
humanist and Renaissance poet, Agnolo Poliziano, which describe the myth of Venus birth
(Corsini, 1998, p.5). The direct inspiration from a piece of Renaissance poetry, another form of art,
relates to how similar ideas and formal organizations existed in both architecture and the allied arts
of the Italian Renaissance. The verses read: A young woman... Show more content on

In his design of Villa Barbaro, Palladio utilized ratios that correspond to harmonic proportions.
During the Renaissance, the harmonic proportions of the eye and ear were considered part of
the same divine and universal design (Mitrovic, 2004, p.83). In Villa Barbaro, all but one room
used harmonic proportions associated with Palladio s favourite room ratios 1:1, 3:4, 2:3, 3:5,
3:2, 1:2 (Howard Longair, 1982, p. 118). Therefore, the perfect geometry of the rooms combined
with the use of harmonic proportions contributed to the harmony of Villa Barbaro. The Birth of
Venus, however, achieves unity through the use of balance and a clear relationship between
figures. This creates a unified composition as all the parts of the image work together to create the
whole. Harmony is not to be confused with unity. Harmony applies to Villa Barbaro as it is a
composition of many similar

in the 19th century AD, humankind has seen large and small empires rise and fall. Some empires
have been more conventional to the Western understanding, such as the Roman Empire where there
was a central capital that had direct control over other territories in which it conquered. Other

To Edward Bloom, his life was about making his own seem as extraordinary as possible. But, as

wanted to seem like a hero, and so he wove lies into the truths of his stories. He truly was a
salesman which is evident through the description William Bloom, Edward s son, provides of
his comfortable life at home. William has everything he could possibly need, except for one
thing. He does not have a dependable Father who is constantly there for him during the entirety

continues, these true lies become larger and larger. It goes from merely coincidences in the
beginning, such as Edward s birthday being the day the drought ended, to stories no longer even
closely resembling coincidences. The story of Edward s life that all readers of Big Fish are truly
pondering is the day that Edward moves own from his human life and turns into a fish. It is easy
for me to conclude Edward Bloom s human life was one that was not so significant, he was
merely a salesman who was not a dependable part of his family s life. He truly did go to college,
marry the girl he loved. He definitely had a son, a comfortable life, and he was constantly away
from his family. His stories are absurd, and so I am able to separate the lies from the truths. And
yet, the end of his life is so hard to understand. He loses his human form and becomes a huge fish,

the study was to examine the association between the relationship between caregiving among male

Caregiving women will experience greater cost than caregiving men, and caregiving men will
experience greater reward than caregiving women . Hypothesis 3 4: Spousal caregivers will

were gender, relationship, and care receiver support. The researchers applied the social exchange

Was it white guilt ? Did Sean Tuohyhelp out because he came from a similar situation? There s

reader would learn that generosity isn t always a selfish act and to help out when you can. The
author suggests that he agrees with helping out when possible when he included this quote: God

knew how to handle it. (59) The final takeaway should be that there may not always be a concrete

Tetanus or Lockjaw
Tetanus, also known as lockjaw, is a rare but often times, fatal disease that kills approximately one
million people annually. Tetanus occurs in many countries throughout the world and it remains an
important cause of death. Fortunately, it is a relatively rare disease in the developed world. The
bacterium was first isolated in 1889 by Kitasato ShibasaburЕЌ while he was working in Germany
with Robert Koch. Kitasato also found the toxin responsible for causing tetanusand developed the
first vaccine against it. Tetanus is caused by contamination of puncture wounds by the bacteria
Clostridium tetani. Tetanus has been recognized for centuries. The name of the bacterium is derived
from two ancient Greek words tetanos and teinein, meaning taut and stretched, which describes the
way that the neurotoxin releases by the bacteria, tetanospasm, affects the skeletal muscle of those
infected. C. tetani is a gram positive, spore forming, anaerobic bacterium. It is usually found in its
dormant form or spores, and transforms into the rod shaped bacterium only when it multiplies. The
bacterium usually produce the spore at one end of the rod. The spores can last many years in soil,
dust, and animal waste and are very resistant to extreme temperatures. This makes infection of a
wound with C. Tetani spores rather common. However, tetanus only occurs when active bacterial
cells are present. These active cells release two exotoxins, tetanolysin and tetanospasmin. The

The Right And Freedom Of Vote
Democracy is a term that is common to all Canadians and many other global citizens around the
world. However, the right and freedom to vote in a government in which the general public
chooses is a concept that many people do not take full advantage of. One of the largest groups of
citizens who tend to not be politically involved are Canada s youth and young adults. Many ask
why it is this certain group that decides to distance themselves from the polling stations during
electiontimes. Could it be the disinterest in voting? Could it be the participation in other non

The best way to reach youth is through their main sources of entertainment and well being. Three
main areas that would be best to introduce politics to youth would be through the family, school
education and through social media. If these three outlets are properly utilized, the information
that youth voters understand about politics will hopefully encourage them to go out and vote on
election day. As youth get older, they look more to their peers for acceptance on many aspects of
life (SOURCE PSYCH BOOK). Although youth distance themselves from family as they get
older, they look to their parents and family for advice when they are younger. In order to strike
interest in youth, you must start early, in the years where families are still the most important

children grow up, the end of their days consist of family talks at dinner time and other family

Who Is Abigail Responsible For The Tragic Events In The...
The Crucible The tragic events in The Crucible can be linked to several different characters in
the play. Whether it is lust, greed, vengeance, or pride, almost all the characters give their fair
share to the madness. The play does include characters that add to the disarray of the town more
than others. Abigail Williams is the character that is most responsible for the chaotic happenings in
The Crucible. A major reason Abigail is most to blame is she is vengeful and jealous of others.

Without a leader, there is no group. Without a group, there is no group mentality; there are no

Abigail herself is afraid of being accused. Abigail is merely a child, afraid of being punished for

Certified Nursing Assistant
Certified Nursing Assistant Introduction: A CNA, a Certified Nursing Assistant, is a person in
the health care field who helps patients or clients with healthcare needs under the supervision of
a Registered nurse or a Licensed Practical Nurse. CNAs are the backbone of nursing. They are
the foundation that makes patient care possible and easier for everybody. Being a CNA is not
always an easy job but they will do what needs to be done. A CNAs daily job mostly involves
taking care of the patients and making sure their needs are met. If we did not have CNAs in the
healthcare field it would make the work load for nurses more difficult and would leave more room

Criminal Justice System And The Law System
INTRODUCTION Developing information suggests that a criminal justice system gains practical
value by generating societal views of fair enforcement and judgement. Particularly, views of
practical fairness resulting in views of the system s legality, may promote systemic compliance with
applicable law, support with legal institutions and actors, and respect to even negative outcomes. A
separate information alludes that a criminal justice system derives realistic value by allocating
criminal legal responsibility and punishment according to principles that trail general instincts of
justice. Distinctively, views of applicable justice resulting in views of the system s ethical
credibility would seem to promote compliance, support, and respect. By contrast, a criminal justice
system alleged to be procedurally unfair or basically unjust may incite resistance and agitation, and
may lose its capacity to control powerful social and normative influence. Trust in the Law by T.R.
Tyler and Y. J. Huo pursues to explain why people eagerly comply with legal authorities. One
method by which compliance might be achieved is through the threat of sanctions that would be
associated with noncompliance. This avoidance approach, the authors indicate, is less optimal than
having people consent without persuasion. Their central notion is that such willingness to comply
critically depends upon a strong sense that legal authorities are legitimate. This sense of legitimacy,

The American Paradox By Michael Pollan Analysis
Redundant Contradictions Everyone is distinct in his or her own way, therefore, each individual
has different types of habits. Michael Pollan, a professor from the University of California,
Berkeley, has written a book that includes a section on something that he called the American
Paradox. Emerging his ideas from the French paradox, he has developed a concept in which he
believed to be true of the Americans diets. From his viewpoint, the relationships between the way
Americans eat and balance their nutritionand health is an inverse correlation. Pollan states that the
relationship between the nutrition of the Americans and their health and satisfaction are contrary, in
which that when one factor goes up, the other goes down. As illustrated... Show more content on

We ve been told in the earlier years by nutritionists that some food are more healthy than others,
but only to be overturned by later studies. Pollan feels that this orthodoxy is very contradicting
as Americans have been assured about how having a low diet helps prevent health issues, but
only to be revealed by even more professionals that these foods actually have harmful effects on
health, Sooner or later, everything solid we ve been told about the links between our diet and
our health seems to get blown away in the gust of the most recent study (Pollan). They have been
told that these foods are of no harm, yet to only acquire health issues such as obesity later in their
lives. For instance, my friends tried to only eat foods that affirm a low diet, however, it has barely
done anything to their health and weight. Surprisingly, these supposedly low diet foods doesn t
provide the vitamins enough for the body to function properly (Miller). It has been said that low

Examples Of Evil In Beowulf
Hero vs Evil
The idea of good and evil presented in Beowulf is hard to capture, by the things he does. He is an
idea of a not humble hero. Everyone wants to be hero of the story and being the center of
attention. Who doesn t want to feel respected or looked up too? Compared to other heroes he wasn
t chosen for the job, he does it to get something out of it.
He doesn t have the quality of being modest, putting the needs of another person before your own.
In the story he makes the people think he does, but in reality he just likes how society gives him
attention and consideration for it. He always likes drawing attention to himself, and he believes that
he is always right. When he heard that he had the chance to be the hero in the story, he immediately
jumped in a boat and moved. He just wanted to kill Grendel without the situation being his business.

think about hero s generation now, you think about catwoman, superwoman or bad man and they
didn t decide to be there. They were chosen to be there. They are an example of modest heroes.
When they fight or protected people, they didn t expect nothing back. Compared to old hero
generation like Beowulf it s different. Beowulf is someone arrogant and way to confident about
himself. He is not a humble hero. He is an outsider and comes in and knows that the king has
problems with Grendel. He risk it all and says I going to kill him I going to be the hero to the
king. He doesn t have a thought in his mind that he is going to lose to him. He just comes and he

Analysis Of The Hurt Locker And Skyfall
The scenes I have chosen for the final project come from the films The Hurt Locker (Kathryn
Bigelow, 2008) and Skyfall (Sam Mendes, 2012). The reason I chose these scenes is because
they both symbolize the effects of alcohol. The scene from The Hurt Locker involves the
consumption of alcohol by the soldiers, which changes their behaviors and actions. They
transform from tough, serious characters, to compassionate, childish characters under the
influence of alcohol. In this context, alcohol holds the power over the characters in this scene.
Alcohol also plays a role of power in the clip I chose from Skyfall; it is the glass of alcohol in
this scene which influences Bond s decision. Alcohol, as well as other elements of cinematography
blend together to produce scenes where power is the main theme. The scene that I selected from
The Hurt Lockeris titled Stuff That Almost Killed Me. Here, we see three soldiers, who go by the
names of Will, J.T., and Owen, bonding after a long day at work. It is evident that they have all
consumed a good amount of alcohol; the bottle on the table they sit around gives us this clue, in
addition to the way the characters are speaking. Next, we see J.T. going through a box of items
that belong to Will. As he picks each item up from the box, J.T. asks why Will kept these war
items under his bed. Will describes the significance of each one, followed by saying that these are
all things that almost killed him. After they disagree about the significance of the items Will kept,
J.T. and Will get up and throw punches at each other, but just joking around. The scene ends with
J.T. laying on the floor in pain after being hit by Will. In Skyfall, Bond is presented the challenge
of shooting a shot glassoff of a woman s head. In the glass, of course, is alcohol, the element of
power. Raoul (the bad guy) leads Bond to the back of an abandoned building where a woman
named Severine is tied up. Bond is offered a shot of alcohol, followed by the rules of a little
game presented by Raoul. He tells Bond that the two of them are going to see who can shoot a
glass off of Severine s head first. As Bond is handed a gun, the man behind him puts a gun to Bond
s head, and the music that was once playing

The company introduced its first BlackBerry device in 1999. For e mail obsessed Wall Streeters

BSKYB/ Sky news was the first of its kind and revolutionised the television industry, never
before had you been able to access current news stories from your television set 24 hours a day.
However the British population seemed uninterested in the early 1990 s and it wasn t until the mid
to late 1990 s that BSKYB started to make a profit. But in 1998 approximately 6.2million homes
had access to Sky News either through satellite or cable.
Up until the launch of BSKYB the television industry had been mainly dominated by the BBC.
Rupert Murdoch changed that and the television industry became and still is dominated by
commercial television in particular satellite and cable. We then had access to a huge number of
channels for both news and entertainment. This meant that people felt they had a greater choice in
what they watched For example sport, people who particularly enjoyed baseball were now able to
access a baseball match, and the viewer would feel as though they were taking part in a shared
experience. This is something the viewer would not be able to do with terrestrial television. In 1996
SKY decided to introduce the first pay per view and charged their customers to watch the Bruno vs
Tyson fight. People paid for this because they felt that what they were receiving was an exclusive

the truth behind Rebecca s death, he describes how her [Rebecca s] shadow is between us all the
time, and how she will win in the end because she knew this would happen (265). It is suddenly
clear the extent to which Maxim has been tortured with guilt over murdering Rebecca. The
narrator had incorrectly assumed that Maxim s anguish was due to the loss of his wife, but
Maxim is actually tormented by the realization that Rebecca has manipulated him into killing

The Revolutionary Generations In Founding Brothers
During America s infancy, due to the people s fear of going back into a type of monarch, many
issues regarding government arose. The issues were related to foreign affairs, slaver, taxation, the
acquisition of new territories and political parties within the government. Throughout this essay, I
will analyze the issues and events discussed in Founding Brothers; The Revolutionary Generations
by Joseph J. Ellis and determine their effectiveness and importance in America. When it comes to
domestic affairs go, Joseph J. Ellis focuses on the slave trade, the representation of states and
population, taxation, the national debt left after the war, state versus federal government and
political parties. At the core and finality of these issues however, is simply the division between the
north and the south. The views on slavery differed between the two as the North was not dependent
on slavery as much as the South was and therefor held a more lenient attitude towards the issue.
Seeing as how the government s priority was to keep the colonies or states together, they decided to
shove the issue under the rug and never talk about it. Even if Quakers and other northerners insisted
on bringing up the issue about the morality of slavery or its contradiction to American principles,
the Constitution stated that the existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the
Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight. (Ellis 82) which meant that the

Persuasive Essay On Teenage Driving
Driving down the highway, heading to the movies with three of your best friends in the car

you slams on their breaks; but you didn t notice, you were looking over at your friend, singing

and reaction time of one inexperienced teen driver. This scenario is far too common when
reviewing the safety of teenage drivers. Currently, Florida is one of five states in the country
that has no restriction on the number of teenage passengers in a car driven by a teenage driver (
Teenagers ). As adults, parents, and members of our community, we need to band together and
encourage Florida lawmakers to impose restrictions on the number of passengers under the age

children but also innocent passengers and fellow motorists. Fourteen states, including Georgia,
Indiana, West Virginia, and California prohibit any passengers under the age of twenty for the
first six months of driving and lessen the restriction, allowing one passenger under the age of
twenty after that ( Teenagers ). Statistics on teenage driving accidents and deaths are alarming.

The Characteristics Of Masculinity In Apology And Homer s...
Over the course of time the interpretation of what it is to be a man has evolved. The dictionary
definition defines a man to be an adult human male , and no definite traits are mention. The idea of
being the stronger and smarter gender circulates the meaning of being manly, as well as contributes
to the characteristics of a hero, in narratives like Platos Apology and Homer s Odyssey these
attributes are portrayed to emphasize the conventional features of masculinity. In the Apology,
Socrates is being put on trial for corrupting the young and not believing in the gods. Socrates
indicates that he is not a professional teacher by stating The fact is that there is nothing in any of
these charges; and if you heard anyone say that I try to educate people and charge a fee, there is no
truth in that either though I think that it is a fine thing if a manhas the ability to teach, as in the
case of Gogrias of Leontini, Prodicus of Ceos, and Hippias of Elis. (Plato 42) Socrates utilizes a
sense of logic that appeals to the people of the jury to defend himself from the false accusations
of people claiming he is a teacher because only a teacher can teach likewise only a sailor can sail.
Thus he cannot teach nor corrupt the young by any means because he is unable to do so. Likewise
being able to reason represents characteristics of manliness, since men are consider to be intelligent
and wise, using logic provides a recognition of these aspects. Additionally Socrates

With security being a big issue, we will want to make sure that the architecture document shows the
necessary aspects that make the system secure. This could be encryption algorithms or specially

we will want to have a component catalog that goes through each aspect of the system and outlines
what its functionality is. Within this document, we will also want to see the types of feature that
could possibly be added to the system and where they would recommend additional components be
built on. Figure 2: A Flow Chart of how criteria turns into architectural decisions and documentation
Database Driven Architecture One of the most prominent software architecture design strategies is

data structure can interact with other aspects of the system. Also, the composition of these systems

Evidence of needed policy:
Evidence showed that only 12% of Americans are able to demonstrate an adequate level of health
literacy, resulting an additional $73 billion health care cost annually because of more medication,
more hospital visits, longer hospital stay, and unable to acquire necessary health services due to
lack of needed skills (Egbert Nanna, 2009). Another reason for needing the policy is to support and
fulfill the Healthy People 2020 national goal of improving health communication, and interaction
between care providers and patients, and improve shared decision making (Koh, Brach, Harris,
Parchman, 2013). More than 23 million Americans have limited English proficiency resulting in
low level of health literacy; similarly, average Americans only have capability of reading 5th grade
level, therefore, we strongly need a policy that establishes the information and communication
system as simple, attractive, and relevant in order to effectively educate patients (Center for Health
Care Strategies (CHCS), 2013).

The Foundation Of Orthodoxy And The Canon

Church History CHHI 301

INTRODUCTION The history of the Church has seen key event and movements that influenced
the New Testament canon. The way by which the New Testament cannon was formed as it was is
a subject of debate to this day. To truly know and begin to understand God, one must be able to
understand that Scripture is God breathed. This is crucial for Christ followers in order to be
sanctified and mature in their walk with Christ. In order to best understand the canon, one must be

[or] Finally, the term includes the interpretive activity of the modern Christian reader who seeks not
only to identify with the received tradition but also truthfully to appropriate the message and to be a
faithful recipient of the gospel for the present age.
It is always best to first define and understand the context of the content in order to further the
knowledge of it. This helps understand the way by which the canon has affected the message of the
Gospel and the Church throughout history. The early Church could not have been able to decipher
between right and wrong claims without a process to do so. The foundation of the canon has
enabled the New Testament to remain true to the original writings. Furthermore, the movements
surrounding the time of the New Testament canon are crucial to take note of. The most known
books of the New Testament are the Gospels. These four books are written by four different people,
yet they all align with the same content. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John present the good news as
eyewitnesses. Although the canon was not yet formed, the agreement by the four men on the actual
occurrence of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus aligned to the others. The Gospel had been
known in the churches. Alexander Souter states, The Gospel was something well known in the
churches, a document or body of documents, to which it was sufficient to appeal without further
specification. The letters written by Paul in the New

A Google Search For The Term Muslim Women
A Google search for the term Muslim women greatly illustrates the impression and image of
Islam in western society; the page fills with pictures of women in coverings, most prevalently
head to toe black with just their eyes visible, with several women depicted in fetters. This shows
the way the western eye interprets Muslim women constantly oppressed by the patriarchal,
Islamic religion; however, it is also a representation of the perceived strangeness of a society not
entrenched in our beliefs. The controversy of Muslim veiling is highly affected by western ideals,
and discourse is often based in Islamophobia; also, veiling s stance in feminismis often misconstrued
as either a guise for racism, or ignorance of non western interpretations of liberation.
The controversy of Muslim veiling, even in Middle Eastern countries, is often interpreted through a
western lens, with a focus on the concept of modernity. Besides from citing issues of patriarchal
discrimination with the veil, Islamic feminists argue for their unveiling as an acceptance of
modern times and more progressive society, claiming that the veil is tied to politics rather than
religion; women who see it as a political symbol say that, unveiled, they can avoid the religious
extremism and racial separatism associated with it (Read and Bartkowski 93).
However, this claim of modernism is a way of attacking the non western tradition of veiling; many
of the same beliefs for the usage of the veil are commonly

A Good Man Is Hard To Find Character Analysis Essay

shoe into the ground and made a little hole and then covered it up again. I would hate to have to,
he said (paragraph 89). The Grandmother is one of the major characters in A Good Man is Hard to

shows evidence of personality disorders, emotionlessness, and controlling character traits. It s the
grandmother s lack of self awareness about these characteristics that leads to the death of the family.

According to the American Journal of Psychiatry, the essential feature of narcissistic personality
disorder is a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy,
beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts. (Caligor) The grandmother

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome ( Cprs ) Essay
Complex regional pain syndrome (CPRS) formerly known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy is an
autonomic and central nervous system disease that results in an individual s experiencing chronic
pain (Ferrillo, 2016). Pain usually happens in one or more generalized region of the extremities,
such as the arms, hands, legs, or feet, but can also affect other parts of the body. Although the
particular origin of the disease is undetermined, the majority of the time CRPS is caused by a
significant trauma; such as a fracture, sprain, burn, cut, bruise, limb immobilization, or a surgical
procedure (Ferrillo, 2016). CRPS stems from a neurological dysfunction that generates severe pain,
mild or dramatic changes in skin color, temperature, and swelling in the affected area (National
Institute of Neurological disorders and Stroke, 2015). There are two types of complex regional pain
syndrome, type I is no apparent nerve injury and may it develop following a noxious event that
may or may not have been traumatic. Types II develop after a nerve injury of the affected area
(Carr, Cerda, Fiala, 2016).
CRPS is uncommon, amongst all individuals, however, can easily affect a person after a traumatic
injury to a limb. CRPS symptoms differ in severity and duration and the outcome for each
individual is different, for example, children and teenager have a higher prospect of recovering,
whereas others are left with irreversible variations regardless of treatment (National Institute of

The Flat Tax System
Taxes are something the people of America have had an issue with since the very creation of this
nation, and it is one of the main reasons the Revolutionary War was fought. The issue of taxes has
morphed over time, and in our current time period, people are debating which tax system should be
implemented. Even though this is a broad topic and a national issue, this paper will only cover the
income taxversion of these systems, and which income taxsystem would be most beneficial to the
state of Texasspecifically. Currently, there are three main types of income tax systems, and they are
the progressive income tax system, the flat income tax system, and the no income tax system. By

Also, if the government wanted to raise more revenue through raising income taxes, and there
was a flat income tax system in place, they would have to raise the income taxes for everyone
across the board. Now, let s look back the example from earlier where person one made $50,000
and person two made $100,000. Remember, they both payed the same percentage of their
income in taxes, which was 10%: person one payed $5,000, person two payed $10,000. Some
people will say that this way of taxation is unfair because the $5,000 means more to person one
than the $10,000 means to person two. Regardless of whether the $5,000 means more to person
one than the $10,000 means to person two is true or not, they are being treated fairly because
they are both paying the same percentage of their income. The flat tax has good points like its
simplicity and ability to stimulate an economy, but it also has weaknesses like its inability to be
flexible after implementation and the possibility of putting even more of a tax burden on lower
income families. Let s move on to the third and final tax system to be covered which is no income

The Hour Long Drive Back
The hour long drive back to the city gave both men the time they needed to cool off. However, a
moody silence still blanketed the atmosphere, making it all the more difficult for Booker to impart
the news he knew would destroy Tom s world. On edge, he waited until Tom was sitting down in
their apartment before broaching the subject. There s something I need to tell you.
Although not surprised by the statement, the flicker of foreboding churning Tom s stomach rose to
a nervous flutter in his chest. He was about to find out what the search had uncovered, and he had
a sick feeling it was all to do with him.
Swallowing down the anxious lump that had risen into his throat, he looked Booker square in the
eye. Okay, spill. What did you find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We found hundreds of video tapes, all labeled with names and dates. We also found reels of 8mm
film, dating back to the nineteen fifties.
Horrified, Tom rubbed a finger over his upper lip. Jesus, he muttered. The sonofabitch has been
abusing minors since he was in his twenties? How deep does this go? Is this a ritualistic practice of
all the Pi Taus? Do they all grow up to be pedophiles?
I dunno know, maybe, Booker replied absently. While the news was appalling, for Tom, the worst
was yet to come and taking a seat next to his lover, the dark haired officer laid a gentle hand on his
knee. Um, Tommy, there s something else.
With a frown, Tom s gaze darted over Booker s face, searching for answers. Something else?
Taking his lover s hand in his, Booker delivered the news. There were two other tapes found hidden
in a safe. One with your name on it, and one with mine.
Tom s muscles stiffened, the color draining from his face, leaving him pale and shaken. Wh What?
With a nod of his head, Booker motioned toward the two evidence bags laying on the table.
Holland videoed you when he... well, you know. I ve spoken to Fuller, and he s giving us the
opportunity not to enter the tapes into evidence. He could lose his job if the commissioner ever
found out, but he understands the delicacy of the situation. If you don t want anyone viewing your
tape, we can destroy it, and no one would ever know.

Death And The Maiden Rationality
Rationality vs. Will Power: A Fight for Closure Psychological damage strikes the core of an
individual and can lead to irrational actions and poor judgement. Through an examination of
Paulina Salas actions throughout Death and the Maiden, Ariel Dorfman successfully characterizes
her as a survivor through her fight for closure. Although her ways may not seem rational, her fight
symbolizes the desperation felt by victims of the torture in Chile. This demonstrates that strength
cannot always be measured in rationality, but more so in the will power of an individual. This is
seen in the way Paulina acts towards Dr. Roberto Miranda, her reaction to Gerardo joining the
Rettig Commission, and her search for personal justice for the duration of the... Show more content

Paulina believes there will be no justice for her, and when she finds out about Gerardo s new
task, her pursuit for what is right begins to develop, and Dorfman is able to characterize her as
damaged and wanting justice prior to the introduction of Dr. Miranda. Gerardo was appointed as
the lawyer to the Rettig Report created by the first democratic president Patricio Aylwin to
investigate humans rights violations following Augusto Pinochet s communist rule of Chile. The
commission only pursued violations ending in death or presumption of death and the idea is
that if [the commission] throw light on the worst crimes, other abuses will also come to light
(9). Paulina starts to get edgy and starts getting defensive towards Gerardo after she discovers the
commission only investigates cases of death, and this means Paulina would not receive a trial.
This makes Paulina furious, as she was under the impression that her and Gerardo would be able
to put Paulina s torturer and the others all on trial. Another key phrase that demonstrates Paulina s
continuous fight for the justice she deserves is when Gerardo refers to the cases he will
investigate as the ones that are beyond let s say, repair. and Paulina responds with Beyond repair.
Irreparable, huh? (9) To Paulina, her case is beyond repair too, and to a high degree. She is
haunted to listen to Schubert, just because of her torture.

San Juan Argentina Research Paper
Ever since we where young, most of our parents would remind us to appreciate what we have
and that we should realize how luck we are. I remember all the lectures I would receive from my
parents and my teachers whenever I acted spoiled or selfish. The never failed to mention that I was
very lucky and that I should never take people, technology and my living situation for granted. Until
my trip to San Juan, Argentina, I never fully understood what my parents had meant. That trip
really put into perspective how lucky I was and it taught me how to appreciate the things I had.

We drove to my uncle, Mauricio s house, which was where we were going to be staying. His
house was a lot more like the houses in the U.S., the outside sidewalk was paved, the inside was
tiled, the walls were painted, and there were air conditioners in all of the rooms of the house.
Despite its very put together appearance, it was not exactly the same as the houses in my
neighborhood in Florida. There were wires coming out of holes in the walls and there wasn t
any Internet connection except for in one room. Once I had settled in my cousin s room I took
out my charger and looked for an outlet, upon finding an outlet I noticed that the holes in the
outlet where round instead of rectangular. My cousin noticed my distress and let me borrow her
charger that matched the outlet. It took me a while to get accustomed to how different it was in
San Juan. The first week consisted of sweating, useless phones, and lack of communication with
the outside world. All of my electronics where completely useless and it really threw me of my
original daily routine. I had to remember to kiss everyone once on each cheek when greeting
them. At times I would forget to do so and my parents would later scold me and tell me that I
came off as rude or impolite. Then I had to help wash all of our laundry in the stream and then
put it on the clothesline to dry. The first few times I washed my clothes I accidentally let some
get carried away by the stream and I had to chase the clothes down for a couple of blocks. I had
to do the dishes instead of using a dishwasher and on more than one occasion I had dropped a
plate. I also had to wake up for breakfast, then lunch and then find a way to entertain myself
without electronics for three hours until siesta or nap time was over. Siesta, was from 12 a.m. to
2 p.m. and at this time all businesses would close and take a break, for lunch or just sleep. I

Results Discussion:
In the article, Shallow Groundwater Conveyance of Geologically Derived Contaminants to Urban
Creeks in Southern California, high levels of Aqueous sulfate, TDS, and trace contaminants have
been found in springs and weeps in the Capistrano Formation in Orange County. The sulfate found
in these water sources comes from various places. Sulfur bearing minerals such as pyrite, jarosite,
and gypsum are some of the contributors to the high amounts of sulfate. However, a study of the
area suggests that sulfide oxidation and dissolution of sulfide derived secondary minerals are the
dominant sources of sulfate (Bardsley, Audra I. et al).

et al).
Also, the article states that DIC Calcite and dolomites are important factors in producing aquifer
alkalinity. However, studies have found that additional sources of carbon may also influence DIC
(Dissolved Inorganic Carbon) in these waters. Breakdown of organic matter contributes large
amounts of DIC to the water. Secondary carbonate in the Capistrano Formation can also contribute
light amounts of DIC to the groundwater. Limestone lenses and nodules formed often release
carbon as well (Bardsley, Audra I. et al).
Findings from this investigation suggest that more attention needs to be brought to persistent urban
quality problems. TDS and sulfate are the highest contaminants in California creeks. Efforts to
improve creek water quality includes reducing the water that we use outdoors. However, because
most of the water that ends up in weeps and spring water comes from meteoritic sources it is
impossible to completely get rid of natural sources of contaminants. With an improved
understanding of key resources, environmentalists will be able to better manage water quality in
California (Bardsley, Audra I. et al).
In the article, Wastewater compounds in urban shallow groundwater wells correspond to
exfiltration probabilities of nearby sewers, the results were that in the shallow groundwater that was
tested had chloride and sulfate that was higher than the limit was. The shallow groundwater goes

  • 2. Analysis Of Star Wars Star Wars: A Fantasy Not So Far From Reality Star Wars, the single most recognizable science fiction experience to the date, hides a substantial amount of real life issues, and borrows a great deal from real life history. While feasting these senses, a lot can be gained by analyzing the saga, specifically A New Hope and The Phantom Menace by George Lucas. Ironic themes exist in the saga in the likes of an oppressive government, the horrid results of such governments, a strong presence of theology all which demonstrates parallelism of real life; borrowing from some of history s most notable governments, events, and theologies. From the first installment of Star Wars, it is overtly operant of George Lucas intentions to weigh in on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... War, murder, and neglect all chief contributors to this astounding death toll backed by the nefarious likes of Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, and vast number of omitted others due to the length of the proverbial list. In Lucas first film, A New Hope, the empire destroys an entire planet, annihilating countless lives, and shows a distasteful lack of morality. A simple theme here genocide and utter disregard for human life, and the dangerous of such power in the wrong hands. Lucas plays heavily on the audiences emotions with the destruction of the planet Aldaaran. The decision to destroy the planet is made over a strategic demonstration of force and to leverage to get the Rebel princess, Leigh, to divulge information (Episode I). The dramatic screenplay displays a force with overwhelming power and how dangerous it could be in the hands of force not checked, and likely has an inspired parallel event and a cautionary tale of what the future may hold. August 6, 1945, Hiroshima, around 8:15 AM, nearly 80,000 people face the wrath of United States, and pay with their lives to a bomb nicknamed little boy . Another is dropped, fat man , and another 36,00 perish (Shi 1127). The events that unfolded that day have been, and will continue to be argued for eternity, however, ethics aside, draws strong connections to a growing militarized world and the concern that comes with such advancements. • 3. The Black Panther Party Formed The Black Panther Party formed as a result of Black Nationalism which came from a multitude of events that began to form decades before any mention of The Black Panther Party. To even begin to understand a group such as this, one must first attempt to grasp the historical context which lies behind them. Blake (1969) asserts that the initial onset began back in 1619 when the first of the colonial settlers accepted a number of captured Africans which were to be used as servants leading to the period of slavery which serves as a sore spot in this country s history. One of the primary streams of thought behind this idea of Black Nationalism can be summed up as the hypocrisy felt by African Americans during the era of slavery as well as after it s end. These are a race of people characterized by their looks and were not given the same rights within the society, yet at the same time, were expected to meet the standards of regular citizens within the country creating that sense of inferiority. Emanating from this complex was the earliest form of Black Nationalism during the nineteenth century in which blacks wanted to separate themselves from America (Essien Udom, 1962). This was a period known as Classical Black Nationalism, where the objective, as stated previously, was the foundation of a sovereign state. With the unequal treatment occurring within the United States, the earliest forms of this type of nationalism could be seen in the early slave revolts. Goals of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Observation Of Teaching A Teacher s Classroom I have a good friend, Courtney, who is doing her student teaching in a fourth grade classroom at Faubion elementary school, and she arranged for me to come in to observe her cooperating teacher s classroom. On Friday, December 1st at 10 o clock I had the opportunity to observe Mrs. Makara s classroom for 45 minutes while the class was doing readingstations. The class is organized into six table groups with five students in each group. Mrs. Makara s overhead screen hangs in the front of the room near her table. I noticed that the class was arranged this way in order for all the students to all easily see the screen as well as collaborate with one another for the assignments and projects that are assigned in class. When I came into the classroom Mrs. Makara was finishing up teaching a math lesson. She was using a document camera to project the worksheet that students had in front of them on screen. She was also using a microphone while talking to the class. Courtney later informed me that was because one of their students has a hearing impairment so both Courtney and Mrs. Makara use the microphone when speaking to the class. Mrs. Makara assigned a couple of math problems for the students to work with their table groups to figure out. After each group figured out the answer to the problem Mrs. Makara asked for one volunteer to come up and project their work on the overhead projector. The student showed her work and talked through how her group figured out the solution. Afterward, Mrs. Makara asked all the students to put away their math work and get ready for readingstations. While the students were working to put away their math work Mrs. Makara used her computer to pull up a slide showing the different reading stations. When I asked my friend about how the students were split into groups she informed me that they split them up based on their reading levels because in their class the reading levels are at a wide spectrum. There are some students who are reading at a sixth grade level and others that are reading at a K 1 level. Therefore, the only way they could differentiate reading instruction was by splitting the students into groups based on their reading levels and having them go to the stations that ... • 6. Teaching And Classroom Management Styles When I took the surveys, I surprised to see how even keeled my teaching and classroom management styles were. Before student teaching, I had a general idea of what my ideal teaching style and classroom management techniques would look like. However, I have realized that a combination of several teaching styles may be beneficial for students because each studenthas particular needs for the classroom. According to the teaching style inventory, I can be described as a facilitator first and foremost, followed by a formal authorityfigure, personal model, and delegator. According to Grasha, a facilitator can be described as a teacher who enhances the personal nature of student teacher interactions (143). Facilitators are often guiding entities for students because they encourage independent work (Grasha 143). In my teaching, I have always thought that student independence is the ultimate goal. I do not wantto be the sole source of knowledge in the classroom. Every student has something important to say. In addition to my focus on individual needs, I still possess qualities of a more traditional classroom teacher. I agree with part of Grasha s analysis of a formal authority figure; formal authority figures are concerned with establishing learning goals, expectations, and rules of conduct for students (143). Students need some consistency and expectations for how to operate in a classroom environment. If this is not provided, there will be chaos. My teaching style includes ... • 7. Analyzing The Texas Double Whopper s Advertisements ground and throws it off a bridge in into a dump truck, showing that mini vans are trash and not manly enough for these men. Not only does this show the masculine act of lifting and throwing a car but it also destroys all things that could be considered unmanly. The camera then pans down to show a man chained to the dump truck while a beautiful women waves a whopper in front of his face. The manthen begins to pull the entire dump truck to get to not only the burger but also to this women. This act takes tons of strength which makes it a masculine feat and in result a man that strong wanting a burger like that shows who these burgers are really meant for. The only women in this commercial that is not being left on a date is shown decoratively holding a whopper for another man. This lady is shown as nothing but a prop here to service that man and it shows how burger king objectifies women. In order to make a thorough non bias opinion, I had to look at the conflicting ideas and attempt to understand the thought process that lead to these ideas. In breaking down a counter argument it helps to see this issue from a different perspective and thus giving me a better understanding. Burger king has been around for over 50 years and have been establishing a network of loyal customers from the start. Many advertisements from decades ago use the same male dominance and objectification of women I see in ads today. Burger King is the second largest fast food company in the world. I can see how a huge corporation such as burger king would not want to erase 50+ years of creating brand loyalty especially considering the success of the company. Burger king as a business is weary of a complete re branding due to the possibility of the new ideas being rejected by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Ancient Cultures Beliefs Way back in the ancient cultures beliefs and faith played a major roll in their lifetime. It treasured the art that spoke to them and made them closer to god, since writing was not indicate back then. Some believed in only one god, some in many gods and some people believed in objects like animals, the sun, items and even the weather. After visiting the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth and observing some of the ancient Egyptian art collection displayed, I have decided to pick the theme of God to inform about. After my research, I discovered new and different key points about the Egyptian beliefs in god and how it affects us in our world today. My first object is the Kneeling Statue of Senenmut, Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut, the second object is Red Figure Cup Showing the Death of Pentheus (exterior) and a Maenad (interior) and the last object is the Head of a Ewe. The first object that I have picked while I was at the museum is the Kneeling Statue of Senenmut, Chief Steward of Queen Hatshepsut. It is said that it was created in the early 18th century between the years 1473 1458 B.C. The instant I walked in into the Ancient Egyptian collection I couldn t take my eye off of that sculpture, due to that being it was probably the the darkest object there. The kneeling Statue of Senenmut was engraved from a grayish green stone, I like this object because, all the achievement and work that Senenmut have done in his life was carved all over this object. One of my dislikes is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Research Paper On Sisters Of The Gion Sisters of the Gion was an interesting black and white Japanese film by Kenji Mizoguchi. Kenji Mizoguchi was a director that had themes of female sexual exploitation and male interference with feminist intimation (Gleich). This film showed how women was treated in the society of the 1930 s. During this time period women did not have a lot of say over there lifestyle. An element that I found engaging was camera techniques that Mizoguchi used. Sisters of the Gion had a lot of long shots and slow pacing. This may have been a slow place filmbecause it was contemporary art. In the beginning of the film Mizoguchi opens Sisters of the Gion with a bunch of men that seems to be having an auction to collect valuables (women). This camera movement ... • 10. President Hoover s New Deal Essay Prosperity is just around the corner, President Herbert Hoover announces, as the country fell into the Great Depression of the 1930s. Unable to recognize citizens, Hoover was kicked out of office and Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected as president, which resulted the start of great social upheaval through the presentation of the New Deal. The New Deal ran from 1933 to 1937 under two stages. First, he set about offering relief to its people, then after 1935, he set profound agendas for social reform, which was specifically a socio economic reform agenda that was made up of a host of legislative initiatives and government programs, launched by President Roosevelt supported by Congress in response to Great Depression. The New Deal composed of the three R s: relief for those Americans unemployed, recovery towards the economy allowing businesses to operate again, and reform economy in preventing replicating situations. President Roosevelt s New Deal was guided by four principles, set of ideas and beliefs that formed the New Deal Agenda, which were to balance production and consumption, reform capitalism, to alleviate the inequalities of wealth, and to counterbalance the power of big corporation with government programs and public interest. The New Deal is significant because programs and initiatives were created in providing channels for the working people to gain more access to work. • 12. The Presentation of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman by... The Presentation of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller Willy Loman is presented as both a tragic hero and an unconscious victim in Death of a Salesman . Death of a Salesman is very much based upon the American Dream, and whether we are slaves or conquerors of this dream. This is an idea that the playwright Arthur Miller has very passionately pursued both through Willy s own eyes, and through his interaction with the different characters in the play. Firstly, the definitions of a hero and a victim very much influence the way that Willy is viewed by the audience. Miller has not used the play to suggest that Willy Loman is an ordinary hero, but more a tragic hero. A tragic hero,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the contrary, we are not immediately introduced to this delusional, flaky character. At the beginning of scene one, we see the more assertive side of Willy as he discusses business possibilities with his wife Willy. Miller balances out the audience s perception of Willy towards the end of the act where the more vulnerable side of Willy is illustrated, with the use of his behaviour and the response of others to his attitude. An example of this would be Linda diligently agreeing with Willy s strange statements. One of Willy s traits which qualify him as a hero is his eternal sacrifice, and the way that he throws everything into the balance in order to secure his rightful place in society, and to live the American Dream. These sacrifices are perfectly illustrated by the long distance that Willy travels in order to sell his stock. • 13. Essay On Alexander Mcqueen Lee Alexander McQueen, CBE (17 March 1969 11 February 2010) was a British fashion designer and couturier. He is known for having worked as chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001 and for founding his own Alexander McQueen label. His achievements in fashion earned him four British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003), as well as the CFDA s International Designer of the Year award in 2003. McQueen committed suicide in 2010 at the age of forty. [1] McQueen was known for his lavish, unconventional runway shows. McQueen has been credited with bringing drama and extravagance to the catwalk. He used new technology and innovation to add a different twist to his shows and often shocked and surprised audiences. The silhouettes that he created have been credited for adding a sense of fantasy and rebellion to fashion. AVAT GARDE The brand ideology was never conventional and the designer almost always experimented with new things to create out of fashion. Alexander McQueen was the man who made the builder s bum fashionable. His bumsters , which appeared in 1996, spawned the trend in perilously low rise, crevice revealing jeans. It was a look that spread and spread, although few dared go as low as McQueen s signature buttock baring style. Hipster jeans became ubiquitous throughout the 1990s ... • 14. Analyzing Sandro Botticelli s The Birth Of Venus Introduction The Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli was painted between 1482 and 1485 (UFFIZI, n.d.). Commissioned by the Medici family, it depicts Venus floating on a seashell. To her right is Zephyrus, God of Winds, with Aura. To her left is Horae, Goddess of the Seasons, waiting to receive her with a flower embroidered robe. In the Roman myth, Venus was conceived when the god Uranus was castrated by his son Titan Cronus and his severed genitals fertilized the sea. The scene in The Birth of Venus depicts the moment that Venus emerges from the sea in a seashell and lands at Paphos in Cyprus. For the painting, Botticelli was inspired by a few verses of poetry by humanist and Renaissance poet, Agnolo Poliziano, which describe the myth of Venus birth (Corsini, 1998, p.5). The direct inspiration from a piece of Renaissance poetry, another form of art, relates to how similar ideas and formal organizations existed in both architecture and the allied arts of the Italian Renaissance. The verses read: A young woman... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his design of Villa Barbaro, Palladio utilized ratios that correspond to harmonic proportions. During the Renaissance, the harmonic proportions of the eye and ear were considered part of the same divine and universal design (Mitrovic, 2004, p.83). Therefore, the perfect geometry of the rooms combined with the use of harmonic proportions contributed to the harmony of Villa Barbaro. The Birth of Venus, however, achieves unity through the use of balance and a clear relationship between figures. This creates a unified composition as all the parts of the image work together to create the whole. Harmony is not to be confused with unity. • 19. Tetanus or Lockjaw Tetanus, also known as lockjaw, is a rare but often times, fatal disease that kills approximately one million people annually. Tetanus occurs in many countries throughout the world and it remains an important cause of death. Fortunately, it is a relatively rare disease in the developed world. The bacterium was first isolated in 1889 by Kitasato ShibasaburЕЌ while he was working in Germany with Robert Koch. Kitasato also found the toxin responsible for causing tetanusand developed the first vaccine against it. Tetanus is caused by contamination of puncture wounds by the bacteria Clostridium tetani. Tetanus has been recognized for centuries. The name of the bacterium is derived from two ancient Greek words tetanos and teinein, meaning taut and stretched, which describes the way that the neurotoxin releases by the bacteria, tetanospasm, affects the skeletal muscle of those infected. C. tetani is a gram positive, spore forming, anaerobic bacterium. It is usually found in its dormant form or spores, and transforms into the rod shaped bacterium only when it multiplies. The bacterium usually produce the spore at one end of the rod. The spores can last many years in soil, dust, and animal waste and are very resistant to extreme temperatures. This makes infection of a wound with C. Tetani spores rather common. However, tetanus only occurs when active bacterial cells are present. These active cells release two exotoxins, tetanolysin and tetanospasmin. The function of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Criminal Justice System And The Law System INTRODUCTION Developing information suggests that a criminal justice system gains practical value by generating societal views of fair enforcement and judgement. Particularly, views of practical fairness resulting in views of the system s legality, may promote systemic compliance with applicable law, support with legal institutions and actors, and respect to even negative outcomes. A separate information alludes that a criminal justice system derives realistic value by allocating criminal legal responsibility and punishment according to principles that trail general instincts of justice. Distinctively, views of applicable justice resulting in views of the system s ethical credibility would seem to promote compliance, support, and respect. By contrast, a criminal justice system alleged to be procedurally unfair or basically unjust may incite resistance and agitation, and may lose its capacity to control powerful social and normative influence. One method by which compliance might be achieved is through the threat of sanctions that would be associated with noncompliance. • 31. Analysis Of The Hurt Locker And Skyfall The scenes I have chosen for the final project come from the films The Hurt Locker (Kathryn Bigelow, 2008) and Skyfall (Sam Mendes, 2012). The reason I chose these scenes is because they both symbolize the effects of alcohol. The scene from The Hurt Locker involves the consumption of alcohol by the soldiers, which changes their behaviors and actions. They transform from tough, serious characters, to compassionate, childish characters under the influence of alcohol. In this context, alcohol holds the power over the characters in this scene. Alcohol also plays a role of power in the clip I chose from Skyfall; it is the glass of alcohol in this scene which influences Bond s decision. Alcohol, as well as other elements of cinematography blend together to produce scenes where power is the main theme. The scene that I selected from The Hurt Lockeris titled Stuff That Almost Killed Me. Here, we see three soldiers, who go by the names of Will, J.T., and Owen, bonding after a long day at work. It is evident that they have all consumed a good amount of alcohol; the bottle on the table they sit around gives us this clue, in addition to the way the characters are speaking. Next, we see J.T. going through a box of items that belong to Will. As he picks each item up from the box, J.T. asks why Will kept these war items under his bed. Will describes the significance of each one, followed by saying that these are all things that almost killed him. After they disagree about the significance of the items Will kept, J.T. and Will get up and throw punches at each other, but just joking around. The scene ends with J.T. laying on the floor in pain after being hit by Will. In Skyfall, Bond is presented the challenge of shooting a shot glassoff of a woman s head. In the glass, of course, is alcohol, the element of power. Raoul (the bad guy) leads Bond to the back of an abandoned building where a woman named Severine is tied up. Bond is offered a shot of alcohol, followed by the rules of a little game presented by Raoul. He tells Bond that the two of them are going to see who can shoot a glass off of Severine s head first. The issues were related to foreign affairs, slaver, taxation, the acquisition of new territories and political parties within the government. Throughout this essay, I will analyze the issues and events discussed in Founding Brothers; The Revolutionary Generations by Joseph J. Ellis and determine their effectiveness and importance in America. When it comes to domestic affairs go, Joseph J. Ellis focuses on the slave trade, the representation of states and population, taxation, the national debt left after the war, state versus federal government and political parties. At the core and finality of these issues however, is simply the division between the north and the south. The views on slavery differed between the two as the North was not dependent on slavery as much as the South was and therefor held a more lenient attitude towards the issue. Seeing as how the government s priority was to keep the colonies or states together, they decided to shove the issue under the rug and never talk about it. Even if Quakers and other northerners insisted on bringing up the issue about the morality of slavery or its contradiction to American principles, the Constitution stated that the existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight. Suddenly, the lives of four teenagers hang in the balance, dependent on the skill and reaction time of one inexperienced teen driver. This scenario is far too common when reviewing the safety of teenage drivers. Currently, Florida is one of five states in the country that has no restriction on the number of teenage passengers in a car driven by a teenage driver ( Teenagers ). As adults, parents, and members of our community, we need to band together and encourage Florida lawmakers to impose restrictions on the number of passengers under the age of 20 in vehicles driven by teenage drivers. By doing so we not only protect the safety of our children but also innocent passengers and fellow motorists. Fourteen states, including Georgia, Indiana, West Virginia, and California prohibit any passengers under the age of twenty for the first six months of driving and lessen the restriction, allowing one passenger under the age of twenty after that ( Teenagers ). The dictionary definition defines a man to be an adult human male , and no definite traits are mention. The idea of being the stronger and smarter gender circulates the meaning of being manly, as well as contributes to the characteristics of a hero, in narratives like Platos Apology and Homer s Odyssey these attributes are portrayed to emphasize the conventional features of masculinity. In the Apology, Socrates is being put on trial for corrupting the young and not believing in the gods. Socrates indicates that he is not a professional teacher by stating The fact is that there is nothing in any of these charges; and if you heard anyone say that I try to educate people and charge a fee, there is no truth in that either though I think that it is a fine thing if a manhas the ability to teach, as in the case of Gogrias of Leontini, Prodicus of Ceos, and Hippias of Elis. (Plato 42) Socrates utilizes a sense of logic that appeals to the people of the jury to defend himself from the false accusations of people claiming he is a teacher because only a teacher can teach likewise only a sailor can sail. Thus he cannot teach nor corrupt the young by any means because he is unable to do so. Likewise being able to reason represents characteristics of manliness, since men are consider to be intelligent and wise, using logic provides a recognition of these aspects. This helps understand the way by which the canon has affected the message of the Gospel and the Church throughout history. The early Church could not have been able to decipher between right and wrong claims without a process to do so. The foundation of the canon has enabled the New Testament to remain true to the original writings. Furthermore, the movements surrounding the time of the New Testament canon are crucial to take note of. The most known books of the New Testament are the Gospels. These four books are written by four different people, yet they all align with the same content. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John present the good news as eyewitnesses. Although the canon was not yet formed, the agreement by the four men on the actual occurrence of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus aligned to the others. A Google Search For The Term Muslim Women A Google search for the term Muslim women greatly illustrates the impression and image of Islam in western society; the page fills with pictures of women in coverings, most prevalently head to toe black with just their eyes visible, with several women depicted in fetters. This shows the way the western eye interprets Muslim women constantly oppressed by the patriarchal, Islamic religion; however, it is also a representation of the perceived strangeness of a society not entrenched in our beliefs. The controversy of Muslim veiling is highly affected by western ideals, and discourse is often based in Islamophobia; also, veiling s stance in feminismis often misconstrued as either a guise for racism, or ignorance of non western interpretations of liberation. The controversy of Muslim veiling, even in Middle Eastern countries, is often interpreted through a western lens, with a focus on the concept of modernity. Besides from citing issues of patriarchal discrimination with the veil, Islamic feminists argue for their unveiling as an acceptance of modern times and more progressive society, claiming that the veil is tied to politics rather than religion; women who see it as a political symbol say that, unveiled, they can avoid the religious extremism and racial separatism associated with it (Read and Bartkowski 93). Complex Regional Pain Syndrome ( Cprs ) Essay Complex regional pain syndrome (CPRS) formerly known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy is an autonomic and central nervous system disease that results in an individual s experiencing chronic pain (Ferrillo, 2016). Pain usually happens in one or more generalized region of the extremities, such as the arms, hands, legs, or feet, but can also affect other parts of the body. Although the particular origin of the disease is undetermined, the majority of the time CRPS is caused by a significant trauma; such as a fracture, sprain, burn, cut, bruise, limb immobilization, or a surgical procedure (Ferrillo, 2016). CRPS stems from a neurological dysfunction that generates severe pain, mild or dramatic changes in skin color, temperature, and swelling in the affected area (National Institute of Neurological disorders and Stroke, 2015). There are two types of complex regional pain syndrome, type I is no apparent nerve injury and may it develop following a noxious event that may or may not have been traumatic. Types II develop after a nerve injury of the affected area (Carr, Cerda, Fiala, 2016). CRPS is uncommon, amongst all individuals, however, can easily affect a person after a traumatic injury to a limb. Remember, they both payed the same percentage of their income in taxes, which was 10%: person one payed $5,000, person two payed $10,000. Some people will say that this way of taxation is unfair because the $5,000 means more to person one than the $10,000 means to person two. Regardless of whether the $5,000 means more to person one than the $10,000 means to person two is true or not, they are being treated fairly because they are both paying the same percentage of their income. Paulina starts to get edgy and starts getting defensive towards Gerardo after she discovers the commission only investigates cases of death, and this means Paulina would not receive a trial. This makes Paulina furious, as she was under the impression that her and Gerardo would be able to put Paulina s torturer and the others all on trial. Another key phrase that demonstrates Paulina s continuous fight for the justice she deserves is when Gerardo refers to the cases he will investigate as the ones that are beyond let s say, repair. and Paulina responds with Beyond repair. Irreparable, huh? (9) To Paulina, her case is beyond repair too, and to a high degree. She is haunted to listen to Schubert, just because of her torture. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. San Juan Argentina Research Paper Ever since we where young, most of our parents would remind us to appreciate what we have and that we should realize how luck we are. I remember all the lectures I would receive from my parents and my teachers whenever I acted spoiled or selfish. The never failed to mention that I was very lucky and that I should never take people, technology and my living situation for granted. Until my trip to San Juan, Argentina, I never fully understood what my parents had meant. That trip really put into perspective how lucky I was and it taught me how to appreciate the things I had. It had been 14 years since my family had been to our hometown in San Juan, Argentina. Our hometown was a small city in the province of San Juan, Argentina. It is very small ... His house was a lot more like the houses in the U.S., the outside sidewalk was paved, the inside was tiled, the walls were painted, and there were air conditioners in all of the rooms of the house. Despite its very put together appearance, it was not exactly the same as the houses in my neighborhood in Florida. There were wires coming out of holes in the walls and there wasn t any Internet connection except for in one room. Once I had settled in my cousin s room I took out my charger and looked for an outlet, upon finding an outlet I noticed that the holes in the outlet where round instead of rectangular. My cousin noticed my distress and let me borrow her charger that matched the outlet. It took me a while to get accustomed to how different it was in San Juan. The first week consisted of sweating, useless phones, and lack of communication with the outside world. All of my electronics where completely useless and it really threw me of my original daily routine. I had to remember to kiss everyone once on each cheek when greeting them. At times I would forget to do so and my parents would later scold me and tell me that I came off as rude or impolite. Then I had to help wash all of our laundry in the stream and then put it on the clothesline to dry. The first few times I washed my clothes I accidentally let some get carried away by the stream and I had to chase the clothes down for a couple of blocks. I had to do the dishes instead of using a dishwasher and on more than one occasion I had dropped a plate. I also had to wake up for breakfast, then lunch and then find a way to entertain myself without electronics for three hours until siesta or nap time was over. Siesta, was from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at this time all businesses would close and take a break, for lunch or just sleep. I always found myself wanting to go to the ... • 53. Essay On Deep Water Results Discussion: In the article, Shallow Groundwater Conveyance of Geologically Derived Contaminants to Urban Creeks in Southern California, high levels of Aqueous sulfate, TDS, and trace contaminants have been found in springs and weeps in the Capistrano Formation in Orange County. The sulfate found in these water sources comes from various places. Sulfur bearing minerals such as pyrite, jarosite, and gypsum are some of the contributors to the high amounts of sulfate. However, a study of the area suggests that sulfide oxidation and dissolution of sulfide derived secondary minerals are the dominant sources of sulfate (Bardsley, Audra I. et al). Data from deeper groundwater monitoring wells showed us that deeper water contains lower ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... et al). Also, the article states that DIC Calcite and dolomites are important factors in producing aquifer alkalinity. However, studies have found that additional sources of carbon may also influence DIC (Dissolved Inorganic Carbon) in these waters. Breakdown of organic matter contributes large amounts of DIC to the water. Secondary carbonate in the Capistrano Formation can also contribute light amounts of DIC to the groundwater. Limestone lenses and nodules formed often release carbon as well (Bardsley, Audra I. et al). Findings from this investigation suggest that more attention needs to be brought to persistent urban quality problems. TDS and sulfate are the highest contaminants in California creeks. Efforts to improve creek water quality includes reducing the water that we use outdoors. However, because most of the water that ends up in weeps and spring water comes from meteoritic sources it is impossible to completely get rid of natural sources of contaminants. With an improved understanding of key resources, environmentalists will be able to better manage water quality in California (Bardsley, Audra I. et al). In the article, Wastewater compounds in urban shallow groundwater wells correspond to exfiltration probabilities of nearby sewers, the results were that in the shallow groundwater that was tested had chloride and sulfate that was higher than the limit was. The shallow groundwater goes beyond the drinking water benchmark ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
