SELECTION OF PROJECT EXPERIENCE
 Rail Vehicle Instrumentation. Successfully delivered a data package that determined the root cause
of failure of an engine cooling system. The work involved project management, design, procurement
and implementation of over 170 data channels including pressure, temperature, strain, vibration, flow
and rotational speed fitted to an operational vehicle.
 Bolt Specification. Consultant to maintenance managers within the rail industry for bolt tightening
methodology, bolt material specification, clamping force and failure investigation.
 Bearing Life Extension. Responsible for the optimisation of bearing replacement intervals within the
rail industry, based on visual inspection and statistical validation.
 Vibration Analysis. Determined the cause of increased vibration of a mixer unit from a water
treatment plant. The survey led to the reduction of damaging structural resonances.
 Failure Investigation. Led the investigation into the catastrophic failure of a sewage centrifuge,
investigating the maintenance records and equipment loading to determine the root cause of failure.
 Test Rig Design. Designed and implemented a series of tests that determined the cause of gear
pump failure. This prevented a whole fleet of trains from being recalled from service, resulting in
substantial savings to the client.
 Plant Inspection. On-site metallurgical replication identifying cracking and thermal degradation of
