3. Eric Mensah, also known in his private life as Kweku
Duodu, was born in Agona Kwanyako on April 14, 1955,
to Opanyin Kojo Asante and Madam Kate Mensah, both
ofblessedmemory.
Education:
He began his schooling at Agona Kwanyako Roman Catholic
School in 1961 and obtained his Middle School Leaving
Certificate (MSLC) in 1971. After completing his middle school
education, he joined his aunt inTema for a while and later secured
employment at the Ghana Textiles Manufacturing Company
(GTMC) in Tema, where he worked for several years.
Subsequently, he worked as a casual staff at Nestle Ghana for five
years before finding a new job as a clearing agent at Tema
Harbour. Kweku Eric dedicated himself to this job until his health
declined.
In 1987, Eric married Beatrice Adu, and they settled in Tema
Community 8, where he lovingly nurtured his family. The union
was blessed with a daughter, Yvonne Mensah. He also had a
daughter, Rose Felicity Narh, with another woman. Eric was a
family-oriented man who prioritized the well-being of his loved
ones. He maintained a harmonious household and ensured that
everyneedwas metwithcareandattention.
Everything was fine up until his illness, which had him
temporarily reside at Kwabeng with his sister. Eventually, his
daughter brought him back to Accra to live with her, providing
him with the love and care he needed until his doctor
recommended that he be moved to a home care center for the
elderly, where he would receive round-the-clock care. His care
was provided by the Passion Home Care Center, where he was
shown affectionandgainedanew,lovingfamily.
During his visits, you would typically see him beaming and
cracking jokes, which made his stay enjoyable until an
unforeseen tragedy claimed his life. But, as they say, the
Almightyknows best.
Eric Mensah, or Kweku
Duodu, touched the lives of
those around him with his
w a r m t h , h u m o r, a n d
dedication to his family. His
legacy lives on in the hearts
of his loved ones and those
who were fortunate enough
to have known him. May his
soul rest in eternal peace, and
may his memory continue to
bring comfort to those who
cherishhim.

OF THE LATE ERIC MENSAH
4. ‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted'.
Matthew 5:4.
I'm here to memorialize my late husband Mr. Eric Mensah, a
lovely and affectionate man who passed away too soon. Our
love life started when we first met in 1986 and got married in
1987.Wewereblessedwithabeautifuldaughter.
I was a very young woman then. I was a trader of African
fabrics. You were also a young man who was also employed
by Ghana Textiles Manufacturing Company Limited. That
is quite a while ago. I was too shy initially to even hold his
eye contact, but with time, he became a part I couldn't let go.
Alotof waterhasrun underthebridgesincethen.
Kwaku Eric as I loved to call him, was a wonderful father.
He had a unique bond with our only daughter and I watched
you take your daughter to her favourite eatery, to school and
always wanting to see her in new dresses on Saturdays when
takinghertomysister’s placeatcommunity9.
He was my soulmate and my fighting partner, and I'm
devastatedhe's no longerwithus.
Our bond was unique, you supported me during both good
and terrible times, and always made me smile. I am forever
gratefulfor thejoyandlovehebroughtintomylife.
Who am I? God needs you more than us. I did on several
occasions expressed my gratitude to you for all that we have
been through with our families, I take consolation from the
Holy Bible that you are asleep and have joined the Good
Lord and the lovely
gift you gave me

5. Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this:
Happy are those who from now on die in the service of
the Lord!” “Yes indeed” answers the spirit. They will enjoy
rest from their hard work, because the result of their
service go with them. Rev. 14:13
In my memories, there is a special thread made by my father's loving
hands that shines brighter and warmer than the rest. Daa/Kweku
Eric, as I affectionately called him. He was my constant friend, my
source of strength, and my guiding light since my childhood. I remember
him waking me up in the mornings with a smile on his face, prepared to
take me to school, and in the evenings being there, eager to walk me
home. Our small arguments about food, with me always wanting the
fried rice from Seven Heavens Restaurant, which he would gladly give in
to, even if it meant going against what my mother had cooked. His
attention to detail was unsurpassed; he made sure my morning oatmeal
was served with plenty of milk, exactly the way I liked it. Our talks
became more in-depth as the years passed and I entered my twenties, full
of hopes and ambitions of giving my father the security and comfort he so
richly deserved. As a loving daughter, I stood by his side for three
difficult years when sickness put its shadow over him. He clung to my
mother's and my memories despite the devastation caused by dementia,
which is evidence of the love that united us. His sense of humor was a
light that broke through the darkness of hopelessness during his
momentsofinsight.
When it came time to make tough choices, he greeted his new challenges
with a smile, his spirit unbroken by the difficulties he faced, and he
followedthephysicians'advicetomovehimtoanassistedlivingfacility.
One fond memory I have of my father is from my time at Chemu Senior
High School when I received a call saying I had a visitor. To my complete
surprise, it was my father, whom I hadn't seen in a long time. He came
along with a big bag, which I assumed possibly contained food. My
excitement peaked when I discovered that the bags solely contained
assorted meats, including grilled pork and goat. His explanation for this
gesture was that it was my favorite. My father would do anything to make
me happy. When I remember visiting him to introduce the man who

Am a strong woman today because I saw what you went through and you
encouraged me to be the strongest
woman. Kweku Eric, my father, my hero
- your strength, your love, and your
unwavering presence in my life have
shaped me into the person I am today.
Though you may have departed this
world, your spirit lives on in the
cherished memories we shared, a legacy
of love that will endure for all time.
Thank you for being my father, my
friend, and my guiding star. Rest in peace,
knowing that you are forever cherished
andloved.

7. "For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we
live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore
whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.” (Romans 14: 7-8)
e cannot deny the pain that we carry, but we would like
Weveryone to remember him as a blessing. We cherished the
life he shared with us more than the pain that his death has
broughtus.
To all of us who knew him, our dearly beloved "Brother" was always
there for us. He may not have lived a perfect life, but he lived a good one
thatwewillforevercherish.
We will fondly remember his jovial smiles.Brother was friendly with
everyone around him and brought peace to every uneasy situation. In
fact, our brother was an epitome of love and peace among his brothers
andsisters.
The entire siblings bid him farewell until we meet in heaven, where our
good Lord has prepared a place for his saints, and we await the crown of

are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.”“Yes,” says
the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds
will follow them.”( Rev 14:13).
oday, we are gathered here not to mourn the loss of a
Tlife, but to celebrate the life of a man named Eric
Mensah. As mortals, we feel the pain of losing our
uncle and father, but we take solace in the belief that he is now
in a better place. With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we, his
niecesandnephews,paythistributetoour dearuncle.
The news of his passing brought a mix of emotions. While
some of us were aware of his brief illness and had even visited
him, we never imagined that the inevitable would come so
swiftly. However, we find comfort in the knowledge that, as
Job 1:21 states, "The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away."
Though we will miss you dearly, we find peace in the belief in
lifeafterdeath.
