Session: Euro-Mediterranean railway: Mediterranean express -new ambitions are born Presentation: Creation of a Mediterranean freight-oriented corridor The Mediterranean Logistics and Transport Summit is organized in the framework of SIL2015 by the Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME), the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona with the collaboration of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. The Mediterranean Logistics & Transport Forum will focus on issues related to the integration of a single united Mediterranean market; the challenges, opportunities and perspectives for the transport and logistics sector, as well as the Mediterranean railway; the different international projects for the development of the Mediterranean; the Gulf and the Mediterranean and Strategic Partners and the Meda-Logistics & Transport Roadshow.

4. Main infrastructure problems on the Lyon-Madrid axis
Crossbordering problems for freight traffic
 2 track gauges: UIC between Lyon and Barcelona, Iberian between Barcelona and Madrid.
 3 voltages: 3kV in Spanish Iberian and mixed gauge, 25 kV in Mollet-TP Ferro and 1,5 kV in
France.
 3 safety systems: ERTMS in Spanish UIC tracks, ASFA in Spanish conventional and KVB in France.
 3 infrastructure administrators (RFF, ADIF & TP Ferro).
 New infrastructure limitations (through Le Perthus): train length limited to 500 m ,gradient >
18‰, toll, traction costs extremely high, lack of electrical power,…
