This document discusses the importance of nurturing and protecting the open web. It describes the internet as currently being open, participatory, and generative. However, it notes that threats such as network throttling, data and identity being locked in silos, and lack of security and privacy could endanger the open nature of the web. It proposes creating a global community that stewards the open web by explaining its importance and protecting it as a public resource through projects, events, and other initiatives. Examples provided include open web movies, subtitles for all languages, and local "camps" to discuss the web. The goal is to develop this idea into an ongoing effort to ensure an open web continues for 100 years.
