The document summarizes a workplace health promotion program called MoveM8 that uses email and SMS messages to encourage employees to be more physically active. It is a 12-week randomized controlled trial involving 19 UK organizations. The program aims to examine the effects of additional SMS on physical activity levels and psychological constructs related to behavior change. Preliminary data on the 393 participants found moderate baseline physical activity levels but also high sedentary behavior. Recruitment and retention of participants proved challenging. Open questions remain about how much and what type of communication is needed to effectively change physical activity behaviors.

The “German HPU Network” and the Role of Networkshealthycampuses
Christiane Stock, PhD, Head of Studies, Public Health, Unit for Health Promotion Research, Associate Professor, University of Southern Denmark, Esbjerg, Denmark presented at the 2015 International Conference for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges.
Founded in 1995 with initially five network members, the German HPU network has since defined its goals and ways to support member organisations in their processes towards becoming a Health Promoting University. During the last 20 years the network has grown to more than 80 member universities and is now representing the largest network of Health Promoting Universities world-wide, and thus healthy working, living and learning environments for students and staff. Only a few studies have focused on evaluating the structures, processes and outcomes of health promotion networks, important for measuring goal attainment as well as analysing reasons for success and failure. The importance of evaluation was discussed and suggestions were made on ways to expand and enhance this network into the future of Health Promoting Universities in Europe.

Sharing the results of our recent journal article to the Dutch national congress on translational research for cardiology. Besides sharing published results, also discussing ongoing engineering and scientific challenges.
The Experience Sampling Method (ESM) is gaining ground for collecting self-reported data from human participants during daily routines. An important methodological challenge is to sustain sufficient response rates, especially when studies last longer than a few days. An obvious strategy is to deliver the experiential questions on a device that study participants can access easily at different times and contexts (e.g., a smartwatch). However, responses may still be hampered if the prompts are delivered at an inconvenient moment. Advances in context sensing create new opportunities for improving the timing of ESM prompts. Specifically, we explore how physiological sensing on commodity-level smartwatches can be utilized in triggering ESM prompts. We have created Experiencer, a novel ESM smartwatch platform that allows studying different prompting strategies. We ran a controlled experiment (N=71) on Experiencer to study the strengths and weaknesses of two sampling regimes. One group (N=34) received incoming notifications while resting (e.g., sedentary), and another group (N=37) received similar notifications while being active (e.g., running). We hypothesized that response rates would be higher when experiential questions are delivered during lower levels of physical activity. Contrary to our hypothesis, the response rates were found significantly higher in the active group, which demonstrates the relevance of studying dynamic forms of experience sampling that leverage better context-sensitive sampling regimes. Future research will seek to identify more refined strategies for context-sensitive ESM using smartwatches and further develop mechanisms that will enable researchers to easily adapt their prompting strategy to different contextual factors.

Helping chronically ill or disabled people into work: what can we learn from ...StephenClayton11
This project has added to knowledge in five main areas:
It has mapped the range and types of policies and interventions that have been
implemented in Canada, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the UK that may influence
employment chances for chronically ill and disabled people. By doing so it has added
to understanding about what has actually been tried in each country and what might be
considered in others.
It has refined a typology of the focussed interventions that have been identified, based
on the underlying programme logic of the intervention, which aids strategic thinking
about national efforts to help chronically ill and disabled people into work.
It has produced systematic reviews of the impact of the focussed interventions on the
employment chances of chronically ill and disabled people and demonstrated the use of
the typology in helping to interpret the results of the evaluations.
The project’s empirical analyses of individual-level data have identified how
chronically ill people from different socio-economic groups have fared in the labour
markets of the five countries over the past two decades. It has then tested these findings
against hypotheses about the impact of macro-level labour market policies on
chronically ill people to provide insights into the influence of the policy context.
The project has contributed to methodological development in evidence synthesis and
the evaluation of natural policy experiments. By studying a small number of countries
in great depth, we gained greater understanding of the policies and interventions that
have been tried in these countries to help chronically ill and disabled people into work,
against the backdrop of the wider labour market and macro-economic trends in those
countries. We then integrated evidence from the wider policy context into the findings
of systematic reviews of effectiveness of interventions, to advance interpretation of the
natural policy experiments that have been implemented in these countries.

Physical activity prediction using fitness data: Challenges and issuesjournalBEEI
In the new healthcare transformations, individuals are encourage to maintain healthy life based on their food diet and physical activity routine to avoid risk of serious disease. One of the recent healthcare technologies to support self health monitoring is wearable device that allow individual play active role on their own healthcare. However, there is still questions in terms of the accuracy of wearable data for recommending physical activity due to enormous fitness data generated by wearable devices. In this study, we conducted a literature review on machine learning techniques to predict suitable physical activities based on personal context and fitness data. We categorize and structure the research evidence that has been publish in the area of machine learning techniques for predicting physical activities using fitness data. We found 10 different models in behavior change technique (BCT) and we selected two suitable models which are fogg behavior model (FBM) and trans-theoretical behavior model (TTM) for predicting physical activity using fitness data. We proposed a conceptual framework which consists of personal fitness data, combination of TTM and FBM to predict the suitable physical activity based on personal context. This study will provide new insights in software development of healthcare technologies to support personalization of individuals in managing their own health.

Web 2.0 and mobile technologies show great potential for health communication and promotion, but why practitioners and scholars should go digital? Are there ways to measure the effectiveness? Are there opportunities for research?
HIV/AIDS has been a global epidemic for more than 27 years. Most of today's youth have never known a world without it. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently published national HIV incidence (new infections) that showed much higher numbers that previous estimates. The time is now. Together, we can prevent the spread of this pandemic – through awareness, care, prevention, education and research.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
