The group raised money to donate to Wheels4Life. The money that was raised would be used to purchase bikes in a third-world country. Using a bike as a means of transportation means it benefits our environment by not polluting the air, and benefits our health as a form of exercise.
The 7 Shifts were developed by Tommy Crawford, Brian Fitzgerald, Amrekha Sharma, and Iris Maertens to help frame a change agenda for Greenpeace International. They were derived from a series of workshops worldwide that articulated Greenpeace's overarching story and posed the question: "What would be different about the organisation that truly lived that story from the organisation of today?"

The Mobilisation Cookbook: A Greenpeace guide to cooking up people powered ca...MobLab
People powered movements are transforming the world—and our work. Today, nearly everyone has tools for change in the palm of their hand, which is reshaping how organisations like Greenpeace think and operate. Amidst rapid change we’ve often found ourselves talking about mobilisation and people power without a shared sense, a language, for what we mean.
Why do words like “engagement” ring through our offices as often as smartphones? What is “people power,” anyway? Most importantly, why should any of this matter to you and the people you work with?
The Mobilisation Cookbook is a guide to answer (almost) everything you wanted to know about “people powered” campaigns at Greenpeace but were afraid to ask. Developed for Greenpeace staff, volunteers, and allies, this guide will help anyone cook up effective people powered campaigns.

OMG The Backfire Effect: How do we win when facts don't work?Brian Fitzgerald
An ignite presentation given at the E-Campaigning Forum in Oxford 2017 on a psychological quirk that every activist should know about. Includes a short reading list at the end on behavioural economics and persuasion science. We on the progressive left often express shock at how climate deniers can ignore science: we shouldn't ignore the science of persuasion when it tells us we're campaigning incorrectly.

ChildFund International is inspired and driven by the potential that is inherent in all children; the potential not only to survive but to thrive, to become leaders who bring positive change for those around them. We believe all needy poor children deserve hope.
On January 30th, 2014, Rainforest Alliance hosted a group of innovative specialists in consumer behavior to brainstorm a new global narrative that taps into the consumer shift towards a broader and more meaningful set of values around mindful living and sustainability.
Compelling information on consumer trends were presented by experts including Tom LaForge of Coca-Cola, Chris Coulter of GlobeScan, Chip Walker of BAV Consulting, Amy du Pon of Havas, Carol Fitzgerald of BuzzBack Market Research, KoAnn Skrzyniarz of Sustainable Brands, Jonah Sachs of Free Range Studios, and Thatcher Young of ignition. Raphael Bemporad of BBMG then led a creative ideation session that inspired the findings in this report.

This was a group assignment for the Storytelling & Content Strategy certification program at the University of Washington. For the assignment, we chose an organization, created a business goal and used a research-based persona to develop a sustainable content strategy that would generate engagement and meet the established business goal.
The project’s main focus was to discuss Hawaii’s main energy source, the alternative energy sources available to Hawaii, and the advantages and disadvantages of each energy source. It also included a list of groups and organizations in Hawaii that promotes a more sustainable lifestyle.
Com 344 final project presentation renewable energy in hiAmyDeSa
The group explained the advantages and disadvantages of different sources of energy, such as wind energy, wave energy, and solar energy. The group also included their action plan in their project. One action is to propose a petition to lawmakers to cut reliance on fossil fuels.
The group provided awareness and stressed the importance of local businesses’ doing their part in reducing their ecological footprint. The presentation shows some sustainability issues such as using plastic bags and overfishing and provided solutions to them. In addition, the presentation discussed the benefits of recycling.
The group did a beach clean up at Kamilo Beach. The group did not only succeed in cleaning up debris. But, also succeeded in gathering people in the community to do this activity with them.
The group volunteered at Kaiao Community Garden to help out, harvest, clean up, and share food. They gained knowledge about gardening and related their new acquired knowledge to the course themes.
The group's objective is to maintain and promote the continuation of the Hawaiian culture of traditional practices. The group volunteered at the Ka ‘Umeke Ka’eo Hawaiian Immersion Charter School for chants, practical knots, the basic operation of sailings, and more. The group incorporated the voyaging skills and way of living that they learned into the curriculum.
The project describes ways we can have sustainable living. It also discussed the ecological footprint. Some ways we can be sustainable that were discussed in the project are rain harvesting, photovoltaic electricity, solar heating, and dual flush toilet.
WRI’s brand new “Food Service Playbook for Promoting Sustainable Food Choices” gives food service operators the very latest strategies for creating dining environments that empower consumers to choose sustainable, plant-rich dishes. This research builds off our first guide for food service, now with industry experience and insights from nearly 350 academic trials.
UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.
"Understanding the Carbon Cycle: Processes, Human Impacts, and Strategies for...MMariSelvam4
The carbon cycle is a critical component of Earth's environmental system, governing the movement and transformation of carbon through various reservoirs, including the atmosphere, oceans, soil, and living organisms. This complex cycle involves several key processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, each contributing to the regulation of carbon levels on the planet.
Human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, have significantly altered the natural carbon cycle, leading to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and driving climate change. Understanding the intricacies of the carbon cycle is essential for assessing the impacts of these changes and developing effective mitigation strategies.
By studying the carbon cycle, scientists can identify carbon sources and sinks, measure carbon fluxes, and predict future trends. This knowledge is crucial for crafting policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing carbon storage, and promoting sustainable practices. The carbon cycle's interplay with climate systems, ecosystems, and human activities underscores its importance in maintaining a stable and healthy planet.
In-depth exploration of the carbon cycle reveals the delicate balance required to sustain life and the urgent need to address anthropogenic influences. Through research, education, and policy, we can work towards restoring equilibrium in the carbon cycle and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.

Characterization and the Kinetics of drying at the drying oven and with micro...Open Access Research Paper
The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.

2. Project Proposal
• Sustainability topic: What does student transportation look like? How to minimize our
impact on the environment and on our health.
• Create a simple short survey to hand out in our classes asking students of their
mode of transportation, gas mileage, usage per week, and thought process in
choosing it.
• After gathering data, create a blog and post our findings as well as any related and
useful information about green transportation.
• Begin writing an article based on our data collected, to submit to Ke Kalahea and/or
local newspapers.
• Look into participating at a campus event, Earth Day, or Downtown Hilo
• Ask SAC about promoting a schoolwide “Carpool Day”
3. Group Contract
• The mission of Move Your Feet to Change the Heat is to raise money that would be
donated toward a charity, preferably Wheels4Life. Our team is passionate about
making a difference in another person’s life. We believe that the amount of money
we raise will definitely benefit someone in need. We are committed to staying in
constant communication with one another via emailing, texting, or phone calling
each other to help achieve our goal. We will value and respect one another’s
opinions, beliefs, ideas, and commitment levels. We will do our best to work together
even when it means reshaping or reforming our path toward our goal.
• We will volunteer and agree upon the tasks of each member of our group during our
meetings. We will follow up with each other for accountability. We will encourage
and praise one another for success and accomplishments. We will inspire each other
for improvements and challenges. We will seek to help and not discourage or
pressure. We plan to make this a memorable experience as we have fun together.
5. Our Fundraiser
Rather than spending an entire day
carrying pounds of rice for miles, a
father in a third-world country can
pack triple the amount of food on a
bike to save time and energy.
Our goal is to raise $1000 by the end
of the semester to donate to
Wheels4Life, which will give bikes to 9
families in a third-world country.
