1. Summative Reflection:
Comment on each of the technologies we implemented, making sure to touch upon ease
of use, quality of information gathered, and potential for further use:
PLE: The PLE was useful for keeping all of my links in one place. I’m not sure how
useful it is for others to view, but I liked it. After some explanation, it became easy to
use.
RSS feed: The feed proved to be fairly useless. I did not receive large amounts of
information from it, and I don’t really understand what purpose it was supposed to serve.
Scoop It: Like the RSS feed, Scoop it gained me no information.
Videos/Interviews/Documentaries: The videos and interview were very informative. I’m
glad I was able to find them.
Audios: I did not find something that was purely audio.
Wikispace: The wikispace made it simple to turn in assignments as I finished them. It
was easy to use, and I would recommend using it again.
Wordpress: I enjoyed keeping a blog, even if it was for school. It was easy to use and
kept my mind thinking ahead. I recommend it.
Prezi: I greatly like our ability to use prezi as a presentation. It is fairly simple
(sometimes difficult) and provides a new way to share information. Highly
recommended.
Voice Thread: I did not use a voice thread.
To what extent did this type of learning (completely student-centered with teacher as
facilitator rather than focus; self-guided; choice-based) result in a meaningful learning
experience for you? Please explain.
I liked the fact that we were given large amounts of freedom on this project. My ability to
pick a topic and study it my way with slight pushing made me more interested and
invested in the project. I feel as though I’ve learned more about my topic now than I have
about many things in my entire life.
Remember that we fully understand the limitations and stress that came as a result of
trying to do this project in so little time at the end of the year. We appreciate your
willingness and your enthusiasm, and we even appreciate your candor in evaluating the
process. That being said, what suggestions can you make that will help us refine this
assignment for future students. What did you like best? What did you not like? {We
know more time, and not at the end of the year; you don’t need to tell us that!}
I liked the openness of the project. I would have liked fewer regulations on our sources
and necessary links.
