Technical Writing 2311

 After hearing so much about how to do a resume in high school, I figured
that I got the hang of it. I knew the things that had to go on my resume were
things like my past employers, GPA, accomplishment's, and etc. I thought it
was really professional to include all my high school experience to make it
seem more realistic and long. When my professor started lecturing about
how to edit and how to construct a resume, then I was like crap. I became
frustrated and confused about how to construct one so I did not know how
to construct one on my own. I realized I had so much unnecessary
information that was in my resume. The solution was real easy though In
this class we’ve learned the length of a Resume, how to make it seem more
realistic and professional. We did not need to make a whole new one. I used
my past resume to be revised.
 When the students went around and edited my resume, this helped me
because there were a lot of problematic errors within my resume.
 This turned out to be great because the whole purpose was to improve or make
changes to our Resumes that could lead to our future jobs.
 This unit was fun and useful when the Professor gave us
new ways of how to do an instruction set. The reason this
was helpful is because we were talking about instruction
sets and our group were needing ideas on how to make our
instruction set. Then this came a long and it was perfect.
 The professor gave instructions without words, this was
challenging because we had to find some ways to finish
the task asked, and the only resource we had, were some
pictures. With these activities we learned how visuals can
be confusing at times and how accurate and detail we need
to be as a group.
 Our Instructor gave us the opportunity to be in a group.
She asked us to submit our proposal to our group. The
professor did this because she wanted each group member
to vote on the best proposal. The proposal that was chosen
or had the most votes was on How to make the process on
printing easier.
 The professor taught us to be familiar with our audience. If
we do not pay attention to the small details we can easily
confuse our audience on what to do. Our audience is what
we had to take into consideration when executing our
proposal. Our main goal was to make this easy, quick, and
informative. I believe and have confidence that our
proposal did just that and was informative for our
audience.
 At first we were puzzled on how to make this. We were like,
do we draw a storyboard?, give them a script? We definitely
had our obstacles and confusion in this one, but we came
to an agreement. We took our instruction set, and drew on
small pieces of paper that would look like a computer
screen, WEPA printer, and etc.
 We matched the pieces of paper with the instructions set as
much as we could. We came up with this idea because we
did an exercise very similar to it in class. We got our
feedback from the randomized students by trying there
best to match the cards to the instruction that was read out
loud. Our feedback was great because we were able to see a
trend and correct that trend within our instruction set.
 I would say that when creating anything in front of an
audience, you have to consider all types of learning
modalities.
 For example, Auditory learners and Visual learners. This is
a broad type of diversity but this is probably one of the
most common difference between people.
 Which brings me to my next point. When our instruction
set was explained, it was presented through a video. We
also had an idea of what the other groups were doing so we
decided to be a little different by presenting it through a
video and adding the description. We did this because if
anyone is deaf or wanted it in writing instead of watching
the video. They were able to read it in the description
below.
 This was the final product. As a group we had to come up
with some ideas to present in front of class. Every team
member had a part where they had to explain and
demonstrate why we picked this topic and why we thought
this could be helpful for staff and students.
 The instructor gave us a clear rubric (because we
basically made it) on what we needed to work on. Also we
had more than enough class time and outside of the class
to practice and create the power points for the
presentation. Now for the power point the professor
explained to us that we don’t have to put so much on it.
 After we presented, our professor had great constructive
criticism and what we could improve on for the future.
 I’ve enjoyed this class so much and I’m so honored to
learn so much from my professor. This class has truly
prepared me for cases that go on in the real world like
business meetings, presentations, and how to be
cooperative.
 I was skeptical on what this class would be about but
now I can say it is very vital for every student to take
this class. This class has definitely given me so much
knowledge and beneficial in almost every aspect of
technology.
