Master Cleanse Research Paper
TThe Master Cleanse: Is it the Real Deal? Ever heard of losing ten pounds in ten days? The Master
Cleanse claims this to be true. The Master Cleanse, also called the Lemonade Diet, is a liquid only diet
consisting of three things: a lemonade like beverage, salt water drink, and herbal laxative tea. The diet
consists of consuming nothing but this lemonade drink for ten days (or more) and you re supposed to
shed weight and detox your digestive system. All in all, the Master Cleanse is claimed and intended to
make people healthier, feel more energetic, and happier. Beyonce did the Master Cleanse to quickly

the long run, or is it you just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the words of Maura Shenker, You may also suffer digestive issues because of the constant flushing
of your system, which can damage healthy probiotic bacteria that aid digestion and help keep your
immune system strong (3). This quote justifies the master cleanse could have danger to your digestive
system and normal bodily functions. According to Tina Rubin who wrote Mastering the Master
Cleanse , Detox symptoms include irritability, aches and pains (including caffeine headaches),
lethargy, and eliminations that burn. Many of the symptoms disappear the next day. After day three,
most people experience no more detox symptoms until day seven or eight, and then it s smooth
sailing. Other than on symptom days, people report having unusual energy, strength, and clarity that
continues throughout the cleanse (3). There seems to be a lot of symptoms that go along with this
detoxing diet but seems to possibly be worth it in the long run. It may only do that for some people
and not others though. The diet could potentially come with several symptoms aches and pains. If
people claim to that going through the pain and not eating was tolerable then it could be worth a

Regulating Our Food
Government Regulating Our Food One may agree with the government regulating our food. People all
around the world are obese and struggling to get healthy again. The percentage of obese people is
rising and it is getting to a concerning level. When you are obese, you become limited in movement
and jobs that you can get. The world still needs workers for the land and obese people cannot do that
job because they cannot move as well. Obese people are restricted in the job category and many other
categories. If the government does not pitch in to stop obesity, more people will not be successful,
there would still be more ways to become obese, and people would just eat and not think of the
calories that go into their daily meals.
The success rate in school decreases for obese people. According to Education Level and Obesity,
33.6% of obese adults didn t graduate high school. If you don not graduate high school, it is very hard
to get a job in general but a steady, decent paying job. The government should be helping and trying to
make everyone not obese. If people are obese and not changing, they need all the help they can get
and the government is providing help. The government is trying to lower the amount of unhealthy
food being sold in cities to prevent obesity. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Preventing the export of conflict diamonds in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has large reserves of cobalt, gold, gems, copper, timber,
and uranium. However, the most valuable resource that the DRC possess is its large reserve of
diamonds. Diamonds essentially serve as a pillar to the DRC s struggling economy. Plagued by civil
unrest, the DRC is desperately trying to stabilize its economy. Their efforts have been met with stiff
resistance due to the ongoing civil war and illegal diamond trade. Not only is the DRC losing potential
revenue from the illegal mining of diamonds, but also these diamonds are being used to finance the
rebel armies. In response, the U.N. has drafted several ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The exploitations of the land began when King Leopold declared all unoccupied land owned by the
state. This move gave him exclusive rights to the lucrative trade in rubber and ivory. Soon afterwards,
private companies were formed to exploit the natural mineral wealth of the Congo. Along with the
exploitation of the land, the people were forced into slave labor. Natives were brutally forced to
collect rubber and mine for minerals. Under the agreement with King Leopold, Belgium annexed the
Congo in 1908. Under Belgian rule forced labor was gradually phased out. However, the Congo was
still perceived by the Belgian government as merely an economic investment. Very few if any
initiatives were established in order to promote the economic development of sectors important to the
welfare of the native people. The economic developments that were initiated were directly related to
the exploitation of the land. Railroads and other forms of transportation were developed in order to
increase the profits of the Belgian government. Plantations and large mining operations were formed
with native people occupying the labor pool.
Along with exploiting the Congo s natural resources, the Belgian government also established
Christian missionaries in order to civilize the natives. As a result, many Congolese citizens were
educated at the secondary level or higher. These same people would eventually protest

The Gap Year
The Gap Year As a senior in high school did you ever stress about your future? Making plans for
college? A way to relieve stress could be to take a gap year. The life of the average senior consist of
planning for college, by taking a year off you can manage and make money, relieve some stress and it
gives you the opportunity to travel before settling down before college. This is not uncommon to a lot
of senior graduates. They see it as a way to relax and mentally prepare themselves for the future.
The Gap Year is a year that high school graduates take off before beginning college. The reason this

Not too many people have the opportunity to take a gap year. Doing a gap year takes a lot if planning.
If you re deciding to do a gap year that includes travel and research then you would have to be able to
fund the expenses. On top of funding traveling expenses you have to also manage your college funds
and set them aside or make the money while doing these trips. This is why not too many people take a
gap year and when some of them do they end up not going back to college after the year is up because
they ve either spent their college money funding other activities while trying to experience while they
can.
Colleges are beginning to fund up and coming students while they are involved in a gap year. They
believe that students of all income brackets can benefit from The Gap Year . Although The Gap Year

This temple was dedicated to the goddess Athena who is the personification of arts and craft. When
construction started on the Parthenon in 447BC, the empire of Athena was at the height pf its power.
Construction on the Parthenon was completed in 432. At that time, the Parthenon represents the
distinct and the noticeable flourishing of Athenian sovereign power, freedom by the devastation of the
Peloponnesian War. Similarly, it stands for the power and influence of the Athenian politician,
Pericles, who advocated for its construction. The Parthenon was designed in the Doric style of
architecture but also have some features from the Ionic and Corinthian style. All four sides of the
temple reflects clarity, reverence, balance, and harmonious proportion. The Parthenon is made up of
freestanding columns on the outside which are thirty four feet tall, with two additional rows of
columns that provide an inner porch. The top portion of the temple is triangular with several sculptors,
including Zeus, Athena, Hera, and the three goddesses. It was painted in bright colors and so was the

It starts with God and Adam and Eve, as that relationship fails, God set up a covenant with His people
of Israel. The people of Israel fail short of keeping the covenant with God, and He sent His son as the
final sacrifices for sin, then giving us his Holy Spirit to guide us. God is the creator of all; He is love,
and He desires a relationship with His people.
From God s creation of man to the idea of humanity in this world is revealed by God s living word.
When God created man in His image, He revealed how important it is for us to be in a relationship
with Him, and by placing Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden it shows that humanity is to live over
the domain of earth, caring for and ruling over everything. By the fall of humanity from God, there
has been a separation from the divine creator and His creation. Humans no longer are born pure in
heart and mind but or born to the desires of the flesh. No longer seeking a divine relationship, but
seeking the sinful nature of the flesh. God placing humanity over the earth; to be fruitful and multiply,
and to spread over the surface of the world, as believers of God humanity is designed to spread the
word of God and to worship and praise Him forever and ever. Jesus Christ came to reconcile the world
to the creator; this change humanity for ever, no longer needing a sacrifice for the sins of humans,
only needing to believe in Jesus Christ as the savior. From the fall of

Functions And Functions Of Management
There are four primary functions involving management, which are considered the very life line and it
s existent. These four functions are instrumental and detrimental to the success and longevity of any
company. Without these vital staples, a company is doomed before it is birth, and they are planning,
organizing, leading and controlling. However, there is another essential component to the functions of
management, and it is the important of diversity. In this paper I will identify the detailed function of
these different components of management and explain their importance.
With the most essential components being the planning phase, it is crucial that this particular entity is

The results of the performance will determine the reward or reprimand issued to the employee.
While these are important functions of management, there are other equally important aspects of
management, and they are the management of diverse and important. Management of diverse relates
to the differences among individuals with in an organization. Diversity comprises of the race, gender,
personality, education, ethnic group and the background of an individual to name a few. With America
evolving into this enormous melting pot, different cultures and nationalities are able to integrate
together as one within the confines of the workforce.
Workplace diversity involves building a culture to unity dissimilar individuals to work collectively
toward the same goal. This type of comradery builds mutual respect among workers and fosters a
presence of cohesiveness. There are times when perfect unity is challenging to achieve among
coworkers. However, the visible presence of the different strengths and talents achieved from a
diverse group gains undeniable respect from their cohorts.
Although the majority of us choose to live in perfect harmony, realistically this is not always the case.
Yes, it is inevitable to experience conflict in the workplace; however, it is essential to create a
resolution for each misunderstanding. Resolving workplace diversity conflicts eliminate possible
litigations, as well as minimize probable lawsuits. Attaining a

WWII Home Front: The Key to Victory
The path to Allied victory in World War II wasn t solely due to the soldiers fighting on the frontline,
but also a result of the people fighting at the home front as well. When Pearl Harbor was attacked on
December 7 of 1941, the United States were forced to enter the war and panic gripped the country as a
whole and made many fear of plausible attacks to the United States. However, instead of just cowering
in fear, the majority of Americans converted this fear into their acceptance that the only way to win
this war, was to fight back through their very own, home front. The home front was the war efforts
back in the United States, in which many Americans made imperative sacrifices that turned the tide of
victory in favor of the United States and Allies. This is evident in the fact that Americans resorted to
the rationing of supplies at home, employing women in the defense plants, and buying war bonds to
pay for and support the war effort. Thus, the home front was crucial in the United State s ... Show

From the beginning of World War II, it became quite evident that mass amounts of weapons and
vehicles would be needed in order to defeat the Axis powers. Due to this necessity, approximately 2.5
million women were hired to work in shipyards, aircraft factories and such manufacturing and defense
plants. As a result of these 2.5 million women in the war factories, approximately 90,000 navy vessels,
80,000 tanks and 300,000 aircrafts and much more were made during those warring years. These mass
war productions showed that the home front was a crucial aspect to the United States attaining victory
during World War II, due to the fact that it allowed the United States to grow in numbers and

Gwendolyn Brook And Kwame Dawess Analysis
The African American Struggle Through Contemporary Poetry Ai, Gwendolyn Brooks, and Kwame
Dawes are all contemporary African American poets. Their works often focused on different aspects
of the post civil rights movement in the African American community. Ai was known for writing
poetry on hard subjects. She was also known for writing poems that were graphic. Being multiracial,(
1/2 Japanese, 1/8 Choctaw, 1/4 Black, and 1/16 Irish), many of her poems were based on the
complexity of identity ( qtd. in Ai, a Steadfast Poetic Channel of Hard Lives, Dies at 62 ). On the other
hand, Kwame Dawes is a Nigerian born man of Jamaican descent. Gwendolyn Brooks was an African
American woman whose adult years were spent during the civil rights movement. Tornado Child is a
poem written by Kwame Dawes in 2002. It celebrates different aspects of black womanhood. In
contrast, Gwendolyn Brook s We Real Cool is written in the sixties and talks about the negative
aspects of stereotypes. The Kid by Ai is graphic and depicts violence. All of the poems demonstrate
different struggles that are faced by the African American community. This essay will specifically
examine the African American struggle through the lens of misogynoir, stereotypes, and the
destruction of black families. The first poem, Tornado Child by Kwame Dawes, explores the African
American struggle through misogynoir. Dictionary.com describes misogynoir as the specific hatred,

Designing A New Branch Leader
After reading Chapter 9 and looking back on my time spent working two summers at a grain elevator
which also had its own agronomy department (using science and technology to help produce better
crop yields), it became noticeably clearer that the company I was working for was making
arrangements to hire a new branch leader. The elevator that I worked for was one of two branches for
the larger company. The company has three branch managers along with a person in charge of
overseeing the entire operation. My first summer the branch that I was working for hired a recent
college graduate to aid the current branch manager with the day to day operations of the company. He
was asked to have his hand in everything that took place within our branch of the company. Working
three months that summer, I got to see the development procedures that they were putting him
through. Although it did not apply to me, being a coach, I paid attention to the things they were having
him, potentially hearing or seeing something that could benefit me in my profession. With him starting
just a week after I had started, it allowed me to essentially everything they had designed for him
thorough those first three months. Throughout the first month and a half, he was sitting near the head
of the table for company meetings, sitting in on meetings with customers, and doing ride alongs to
check fields and perform soil samples. Everything that a branch manager would do, he was doing.
That whole summer, he was

Should Evolution Be Taught In Schools Essay
Have you ever wondered if evolution was the one and only way that humans came to be? Well, you
are wrong! There is another side to this continuing argument. The United States Supreme Court
declared that restricting an educator s right to teach the theory of evolution is unconstitutional.
Disclaimers conveying the theory of evolution of humankind as the only explanation or development
is unconstitutional. I believe that both creationism, and evolution both be taught, if anything. Let the
students voice their own opinions based off their beliefs and evidence they individually gather.
Creationism should be taught in schools, they do idol critical thinking skills. However, they still

Creationism is the process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed
and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth. As you can see, they are two
competing theories. But only one seems to be taught in public schools, funny right? Nobody ever
seems to criticize evolution in any course materials or textbooks, it just can t be stated as a scientific
law. The controversy believes that sudden appearances of chaos from nothing and god can t be enough
evidence. However, we can t find transitional fossils between ape and man to back up evidence for
evolution.
In conclusion, you now see where I am coming from. Evolution is no better than the theory of
creation. But if you are going to teach the idea of one thing, at least show the competing theory and its
side. Then you wind up with everyone thinking it is all one sided, and that can make people upset. So
parents, teachers, staff, school boards, if you have a religion or beliefs, don t you want it to be heard.
Maybe even taught if there are other sides to it. I am asking that you all stand up for what you believe
in and make education

Children love television, and I know when I was in third grade and I saw the tv rolling into class I
didn t care what program we were about to see I was just glad we were watching tv. But this isn t all

showing these third graders Bill Nye is to not teach them the Hydrologic Cycle, but more to get them
to like Bill Nye the Science Guy. Just think, as an educator, if you can teach your lesson while getting
the students hooked on the whole subject. I watched Bill Nye the Science Guy as a child and I believe
it was one of the few reasons why I was interested in science. When teaching third graders them
learning the material at hand is the key lesson, but it t not the final goal. Getting them interested and to
enjoy science is the main take away here. Teaching a parent or grandparent is much different as our
goal isn t to get them hooked on science but more to just teach them the lesson. One thing I ve noticed
when teaching an adult is that they become less interested with the teaching the more childish it is. So
basically, Bill Nye would not work. So I found another video online that would teach adults the

Asian-American´s Suicide

women of the age 15 to 24 have the highest rates of suicide than any other racial, ethnic, or gender
group. The model minority pressure socially produced pressure internalized by families of some Asian
American children to be high achievers at school and professionally plays a large factor to the issue,
especially since girls, who are more affected by it than boys, are expected to become the perfect

There s a cultural practice of dealing with distress and feelings on your own before burdening others
with them, clinical psychologist and Palo Alto University assistant professor Joyce Chu explains. By
the time [Asian American women] seek professional help, the severity of their mental health problems
are much higher than compared to every other group, (Mu 1). Within my household, feelings of deep
sorrow and despair have never been discussed between the members of my family. It is important to
keep up the appearance that there is nothing out of place so, even though I sometimes confide in my
friends, the act of confessing my sadness is kept to a minimal because of how unusual it feels. Losing
face is a well known concept among other Asian culture: Unlike individualistic cultures, shame and
honor go far beyond the indi¬vidual, and reflect directly upon ones family, nation, or other group, and
so is taken very seriously. Maintaining good face is a kind of measurement of how well one has
maintained faith to traditional values, and ones social standing among others. It serves as a strong
control mechanism which reinforces all other Asian values. (Hu 1) This is likely one of the main
reasons why many Asian American women do not seek psychological help, because it is not only
embedded in them to keep up the appearance of happiness and good health, but the shame that comes

Cultural Colonialism And Cultural Imperialism
Obviously, every one of these creators concur that cultural imperialism advances the interests of
specific circles inside the imperial forces, regularly to the detriment of the target societies. Though the
terms like cultural imperialism and cultural diplomacy are relatively young, and are mostly word
combinations to define political phenomena, they are often considered as violent ways to conduct
propaganda works. The aim of cultural imperialism or cultural mediation is not limited to formation of
political organization or taking certain decisions relating to financial problems; it has a larger purpose
of spreading ideologies among the third world countries. New age, age of globalisation, age of

investigation will examine the role of the New Deal in improving the U.S. economic crisis from two
differing perspectives: the New Deal, when viewed as a whole, was an economical achievement of
epic proportions, and that none of the successes associated with the economic crises during the Great
Depression era can be attributed to the New Deal.

Vincent states that 125,000 children under sixteen were taken out of the labo[u]r market, their jobs in
factories, mines, shops, offices made available to unemployed adults. [2] Both issues ultimately result
in the betterment of a tough economic situation faced by Americans nationwide. Degler, however, sees
the problem differently. According to him, the N.R.A. was a disappointment as it failed to accomplish
what it was intended to. The codes established by the employers were being ignored and instead
drastic measures to increase production rates were being implemented. As a result, the N.R.A. could

Slavery In The Movie Roots
Slavery
In our class we watched this very sad and inspirational movie called Roots. The movie is based on the
very well liked book by Alex Hailey. The mini series was made in 1977 and tells a story about his
african american family throughout the 1750 to the 1870. It shows how they want from their oldest
back relative named Kunta Kinte and went through the generations to when they finally escaped to
freedom. At first looking at slavery i thought that it wasn t that bad and you could get out of being a
slave pretty easily but, after watching this show i now know that slavery is one of the cruelest things
that has ever happened on the earth. Slavery is very brutal because some of the African American
women were raped by their owners, Also they were forced to change there name to be more white
like, and lastly most slaves would never know what it was like to be free.
First off, slavery is truly inhumane because slave owners often raped their slaves. Not only is this

Cyber bullying is known as bullying through information or communication technologies (Webster,
n.d. 2011), tools such as, e mails mobile phone text messages, phone calls, internet chat rooms, instant
messaging and most importantly, social networking websites such as Myspace, and Facebook.
Researchers have made an effort on the outstanding reasons why social networking greatly causes
cyber bullying to teenagers (Hardcastle, M. 2012). To begin with, there are a lot of reasons why social
networking causes cyber bullying. According to Rebecca Sweeney (Online Conference on Networks
and Communities, 2011), social networking has been used as a stage for bullies to say things they
might not usually say to someone in person. This is because they do not have the feeling of fear
anymore since there is anonymity and no physical proximity on the victims. Bullies could just easily
influence or attack their victims. These attacks contain getting threatening messages; having their
private emails or text messages forwarded without permission; having a harassing picture posted
without permission; or having rumors about them spread online. Another, bullies can come in online
contact with their victims anytime, anywhere, day or night and not just in a school yard; making
online bullying more reachable. Also, bullies have this feeling of certainty whenever they are online
due to the lack of unease already, allowing them to do what they want and it has a very wide public

Coyne Evolution
In the first chapter, Coyne discusses the basic concept outline of evolution, and brings clarity to the
common misconceptions thought and said about how the science works, and the large misuse of the
word theory. The first chapter of this book also defines very carefully each of the main hypothesis of
evolutionary theory. Which stands in dissimilarity to many other treatments of evolution, which all
have a propensity to confuse some readers by integrating different meanings of the word. Coyne also
divides Darwinism into six components. They are: evolution which means change over time,

The Existence of ADD and ADHD
Some of the most common words moving around in the psychiatric circle are attention Deficit;
hyperactivity; Ritalin; ADD, ADHD. These words are being most commonly discussed by most

Essay about The Eastern Indigo Snake
The eastern indigo snake is the longest snake species native to the united states. With a habitat that
covers much of the east coast and all of florida, some of the longest eastern indigos push nearly 9.5
feet. While this fact may invoke fear in many, humans do not have much to fear. Eastern indigos are
non venomous, and only eat small animals including bird eggs. Humans are actually more deadly to
them. Even though they aren t the cutest or most sought after pet, they play an important and
irreplaceable part in their ecosystem.

The eggs are soft shelled while being granular surfaced, and oval shaped. Female Eastern Indigo
Snakes have the ability to retain live sperm for a prolonged period of time, possibly over four years,
and they later release the sperm for egg fertilization.
Distribution
Eastern Indigo Snakes are primarily found within Tropical areas. The current refuge for the Eastern
Indigo Snake species are in the peninsular Florida and southeastern Georgia areas. Eastern Indigo
Snakes are rare and of very local occurrence west of Tallahassee, Florida and in southwestern Georgia.
Given their preference towards the upland habitats, Eastern Indigo Snakes are not commonly found in
great numbers in the wetlands of the Everglades region. The Eastern indigo snakes also occur in the
Florida Keys.
Ecology
Eastern Indigo Snakes are found in the lower coastal plains along with the burrowing gopher tortoise.
They use the burrows not only for their refuge, as well as breeding and reproduction. After the eggs
hatch, the young snakes move to low wetland areas and feed on small lizards, frogs and toads. Adult
snakes feed on small mammals, birds, and snakes, with a preference for snakes. The indigo snake is
thought to be the largest predator of the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake and their is data that has
shown the rattlesnake is a preferred food item. Eastern Indigo Snakes became immune to the bites and
venom released from the rattlesnakes. Some adult indigo snakes will

Spartans were feared far and wide for their battle prowess and relentless commitment to mastering the
art of warfare. Lincoln Electric, shares many of the qualities that made Sparta great. It is a company
with a focus on mastery, frugality, industriousness, and a culture that aligns everyone towards
domination of an industry that they have held leadership in for nearly one hundred twenty (120) years.
In fact, as recently as 2014, they were the largest provider in the welding supplies industry, with over
14% global market share (Samani, 2014). 120 Years of Founder Influence Lincoln Electric Company
was founded in 1895 by John C. Lincoln, who was joined by his brother younger brother James in
1907 (Lincoln Electric, Inc., n.d.). From the very beginning these no nonsense brothers set about
building a company that valued its customers first, prioritized frugality, focused on delivering ever
increasing value and lower consumer costs. The company has a borderline fanatical commitment to
achieving competitive advantage through an employee incentive system that drives productivity well
beyond any norms for the industry, or manufacturers as a whole. To this day, the influence of the
founders is clear in the entire structure of the company and its operating philosophies.

Middle School Is A Period Of Transition For Adolescents
Middle school is a period of transition for adolescents. Students are no longer the children were once
were in elementary school; they are beginning to mature into the adults they will need to become.
Gifted learners at the middle school level face the same developmental and tasks tasks and challenges
that their peers do. Yet, gifted learners also possess traits that are different from their peers, which
often make them misunderstood or ignored. The need for teachers to identify these students and
differentiate instruction in a way that addresses the needs of the gifted students in the classroom is
becoming more crucial than ever. At times, being labeled as a gifted student can be a burden for the
student with that label. The Association for Middle Level Educators found, research indicates that
many gifted students deliberately fail tests or fail to do homework so that they don t appear to be too
smart (Payne, 2013, p. 15). The need for acceptance at this point in students lives outdoes the will to
achieve higher than their classmates. It is common in a middle school classroom to see students
choosing to have friends over excelling academically (Payne, 2013). Judy Willis, an Edutopia blogger
, asserts that appropriately challenging tasks are necessary for cognitive growth; if a task is too easy, . .

Customer Service Tips
I am standing in a crowded grocery store where every register is packed, and I have just spent the last
hour bagging five cartfuls of groceries. The groceries are bagged and placed into the customer s car,
and then I wait for the tip. The customer walks up, says Thank you, and drives away. Now all that is
left for me to do is walk right back into the store and hope for better next time. This is a common
scene I go through working in a DECA Commissary where the baggers work for tips only. Tips are a
common method of pay in the service industry to compensate employees partially or in full for their
services. Tips may be common, but this does not mean they are fair. Tips can be an immensely unfair
system which allows a business to cut corners ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this is not always true; a customer s discrimination or unwillingness to tip can counteract
any good impression an employee may make. A customer s tip will often be determined by how much
they like an employee rather than the quality of their work. Tips may even be influenced by the worker
s appearance and the customer s personal prejudices. In addition, since tipping is not required, many
people will not tip, no matter how good the service is. All of this means hard work may not ensure
decent pay. Instead, a business should give an employee a raise for good performance which is likely
to amount to more than tips would. Supporters also sometimes claim that more money can be made
through tips than a business would otherwise pay. In practice, however, I have rarely seen this happen.
A good day of tips at the commissary is not enough to make up for several poor days and almost never
brings my average pay for a week to more than minimum wage.
Tips are still a common method of payment, but certainly not a good one. The flaws of tipping include
being undependable, allowing customers to discriminate, and falling short of a minimum wage. It
would be far better for these workers to be paid a fair living

Abiotic Factors Affecting The Quality Of Life Society
There are several essential factors that contribute to the quality of life society enjoys today. One of
these factors is the ability to produce crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, and several others.
On occasion these crops experience stressors. These stressors can be from abiotic or biotic factors.
Biotic stressors mainly include insect herbivores, whereas abiotic stressor mainly include temperature
and water or lack thereof. It is vital to understand how crop react to these stressor in order to predict
and possibly contradict the effect on the crops. When dealing with insect herbivores the outcome can
be devastating. Insects can destroy large amounts of crops. To prevent insects from destroying crop,
insecticides are used as well as transgenic crops are used. Abiotic factors such as drought can be more
difficult. The total amount of semi arid land on earth is one third, and the rest of the land experiences
unexpected drought occasionally (Fang and Xiong, 2015). This means that nearly all the crops in the
world are at risk of experiencing some kind of water shortage. Due to these abiotic and biotic
stressors, and extensive amount of research has been conducted and is still being conducted to
minimize the negative effects. In the following sections will be an overview of the abiotic and biotic
factors along with the crops response to each, as well as the genetic mechanisms studied to improve a
crops ability to cope with these stressors.

Cotton From 1850-1860
Factors that influenced the increased production of cotton from 1800s to the 1860s was different
resources, demand, and advanced technology.
To begin with, natural, human, and capital resources played a huge role in the growth of cotton
production. Land was a very essential natural resource to cotton farmers. With fertile land, farmers
could grow their big business, cotton. Also, because of land, the number of cotton farms in America
began to increase greatly. For instance, in Texas, cotton farms grew an astounding 251.6% from 1850
1860. An important human resource that helped increase cotton manufacture was slaves. Slaves were
needed to pick and plant cotton as it was a long and tedious job. From 1800 1860, the amount of
slaves increased 342% and by 1860, the slave population amounted to over 3 million (Davidson, 388).
Money and profit was a very imperative capital resource. After farmers collected their profits, they
would buy more slaves, land, and machinery in hopes of improving their cotton business and growing
more cotton (Davidson, 388 389). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Many times, especially during storms, the slavers neglected to feed the slaves or change the tubs and
buckets used for toilets, as well removing dead bodies (Hine, Hine Harrold, 2011). Sanitation was also
a major contributor to death and disease. Only about three or four toilet tubs were provided for all of
the slaves. Mortality rates were exceptionally high on the ships, averaging around 15%. Overall, about
one third of all slaves died during the whole process of moving them from Africa to the Americas. The
main causes of mortality on the ships were diseases such as small pox, malaria, dysentery, yellow
fever and measles (Hine, Hine Harrold, 2011).
There was however still rebellions from the captive slaves aboard the ships. Rebellions usually
occurred when the ship was getting ready to set sail or when they ships were still within sight of the
Africa land mass, when there was still hope for the slaves to return home. Often times slaves would
actually starve themselves intentionally or try to jump off the ship to drown. But to combat this, the
slavers would sometimes put nets on the side of the ship to stop jumpers and to deal with those who
would refuse to eat, the slavers would use hot coals to force individual s mouths open to eat (Hine,
Hine Harrold, 2011). The women aboard the slave ships were treated very badly as well. They were
often raped and sexually abused. Many times, all of the women were kept in separate rooms to make it

Characteristics Of The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment refers to an intellectual movement, which started in England and gain momentum
in France in the 17th and 18th century. Ideals of this cultural movement eventually influenced the rest
of the world. The enlightenment focused on key principles such as equality, liberty and the right to
life; many ideals that modern governments centered on today. The Enlightenment, adopted several
types philosophies about how we think and understand what s going on around us rejecting ideals of
faith alone, and embracing reasoning and rationalism. In this assignment we were asked to choose
from four political documents that are heavily influenced by characteristics of the Enlightenment era:
Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, US Constitution and Bill of Rights, Haiti
Constitutions (1801), and Haiti Constitution (1805); although, all of these documents have their own
flaws due to views of the period, I feel as though The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen
embodied more sentiments of the period. Consisting of 17 articles, The Declaration of the Rights of
Man and the Citizen, was strongly influenced by the theories of the social contract and individualism
expressed by Jean Jacques Rousseau as well as the separation of powers theory discussed by Baron de
Montesquieu. I also chose The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, because this
document inspired the making of other politic documents gobally.
Social contract is defined as the

Textual Analysis Of Wings Of Desire, By Wim Wenders
Wings of Desire Wings of Desire is a German film by director Wim Wenders released in 1987. The
scene I want to focus on for the textual analysis is the scene in which the angel Cassiel attempts to
comfort a suicidal man, but his attempts at comfort fail when the man jumps off of a building, causing
Cassiel to descend into a spiral of grief and anger. The scene starts with a sound bridge between a shot
of birds in flight and a shot of a man sitting on the edge of a building. The sound of the birds mixes
with non diegetic music and the sound of the man s thoughts. The viewers can hear his thoughts,
which is symbolized by his non diegetic stream of consciousness monologue. The actor s mouth does
not move, but the viewers still hear his monologue, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then there are a few interlude shots of Peter Falk, before the montage, which is a maelstrom of
quickly paced short shots. The short, confusing shots serve to disorient the viewer and put them in the
same headspace as Cassiel, who is grieving, as well as to create symbolic meaning. In between the
handheld shots that progress through the city, there are shots of people that are vulnerable or hurt.
There is a shot of a woman lying on a staircase, a shot of a man on a bench, possibly an index pointing
at him being homeless, a fighting couple, a child crying for his mother, and footage that seems to be
from during the war, intercutting with shots of a bird s wings. Bird s wings are symbolically
associated with angels, and these shots intercut with shots of war and destruction, linking the two
together, the angel is the powerless witness of the war. The viewer understands the shots in the
montage to be from the angel s point of view; he is the one who sees all that pain and carries the
burden of comfort. Jump cuts are used as well throughout the montage, for example in the shot of the
women in the staircase, further increasing the sense of frantic confusion, and an example of poetic
rather than practical language, as the information is not delivered in a straightforward

The Genealogy Of Morals By Friedrich Nietzsche Essay
PHIL 2030 Final Essay
Alex Vanden Heuvel, Professor Lay, Fall Semester 2016
Responding to Prompt 1
On the Genealogy of Morals by Friedrich Nietzsche is typically listed as one of the most important
philosophical works of the modern era. It is only modern, of course, to philosophical standards, being
a mere 129 years old. It is also one of the most controversial works of its time, having the dubious
distinction of being connected to Nazi ideology; it also has a not very subtle racist, sexist, and
Darwinist bent that is a reflection of Nietzsche himself. That being said, I think that it is also serially
misunderstood. Nietzsche directly mentions the role of interpretation in ethical discourse in the
Genealogy, and the interpretive element factors heavily into one s understanding of the polemic and
by extension, ethics philosophy as a whole. Throughout the book, Nietzsche uses interpretation as a
tool in itself to make a constructivist and existentialist argument about the history of ethics as whole.
His idea that man has used interpretation throughout history, and the interpretive elements in
Genealogy outside of the historical analysis, seem to say that almost all ethics are derived from
interpretation and therefore constructivist in nature, which is a heavily existentialist argument. For
example, the entirety of the first essay is based heavily upon the role of interpretation in the
development of the early ethical systems that Nietzsche argues are built on the

The Master Cleanse, also called the Lemonade Diet, is a liquid only diet consisting of three things: a lemonade like beverage, salt water drink, and herbal laxative tea. The diet consists of consuming nothing but this lemonade drink for ten days (or more) and you re supposed to shed weight and detox your digestive system. The percentage of obese people is rising and it is getting to a concerning level. When you are obese, you become limited in movement and jobs that you can get. The world still needs workers for the land and obese people cannot do that job because they cannot move as well. Obese people are restricted in the job category and many other categories. If the government does not pitch in to stop obesity, more people will not be successful, there would still be more ways to become obese, and people would just eat and not think of the calories that go into their daily meals. The success rate in school decreases for obese people. According to Education Level and Obesity, 33.6% of obese adults didn t graduate high school. If you don not graduate high school, it is very hard to get a job in general but a steady, decent paying job. The government should be helping and trying to make everyone not obese. Preventing the export of conflict diamonds in the Democratic Republic of the Congo The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has large reserves of cobalt, gold, gems, copper, timber, and uranium. However, the most valuable resource that the DRC possess is its large reserve of diamonds. Diamonds essentially serve as a pillar to the DRC s struggling economy. Plagued by civil unrest, the DRC is desperately trying to stabilize its economy. Their efforts have been met with stiff resistance due to the ongoing civil war and illegal diamond trade. This move gave him exclusive rights to the lucrative trade in rubber and ivory. Soon afterwards, private companies were formed to exploit the natural mineral wealth of the Congo. Along with the exploitation of the land, the people were forced into slave labor. Natives were brutally forced to collect rubber and mine for minerals. Under the agreement with King Leopold, Belgium annexed the Congo in 1908. Under Belgian rule forced labor was gradually phased out. However, the Congo was still perceived by the Belgian government as merely an economic investment. Very few if any initiatives were established in order to promote the economic development of sectors important to the welfare of the native people. The economic developments that were initiated were directly related to the exploitation of the land. Railroads and other forms of transportation were developed in order to increase the profits of the Belgian government. Plantations and large mining operations were formed with native people occupying the labor pool. Along with exploiting the Congo s natural resources, the Belgian government also established Christian missionaries in order to civilize the natives. As a result, many Congolese citizens were educated at the secondary level or higher. These same people would eventually protest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It all started on a saturday night and one friends house when we had all ran out of ideas on what to do. It was around midnight and we had ran out of things to do so another friend Lacey suggested Let s do the Bloody Mary Ritual. When Lacey suggested this I was for sure it was fake I just thought it was something people told little kids to make them scared. We lit a candle and all of us stared at the mirror in the bathroom and waited patiently. Finally I said Nothing s happening. Let s just get out of here. Spartans were feared far and wide for their battle prowess and relentless commitment to mastering the art of warfare. Lincoln Electric, shares many of the qualities that made Sparta great. It is a company with a focus on mastery, frugality, industriousness, and a culture that aligns everyone towards domination of an industry that they have held leadership in for nearly one hundred twenty (120) years. In fact, as recently as 2014, they were the largest provider in the welding supplies industry, with over 14% global market share (Samani, 2014). 120 Years of Founder Influence Lincoln Electric Company was founded in 1895 by John C. Lincoln, who was joined by his brother younger brother James in 1907 (Lincoln Electric, Inc., n.d.). From the very beginning these no nonsense brothers set about building a company that valued its customers first, prioritized frugality, focused on delivering ever increasing value and lower consumer costs. The company has a borderline fanatical commitment to achieving competitive advantage through an employee incentive system that drives productivity well beyond any norms for the industry, or manufacturers as a whole. Students are no longer the children were once were in elementary school; they are beginning to mature into the adults they will need to become. Gifted learners at the middle school level face the same developmental and tasks tasks and challenges that their peers do. Yet, gifted learners also possess traits that are different from their peers, which often make them misunderstood or ignored. The need for teachers to identify these students and differentiate instruction in a way that addresses the needs of the gifted students in the classroom is becoming more crucial than ever. At times, being labeled as a gifted student can be a burden for the student with that label. The Association for Middle Level Educators found, research indicates that many gifted students deliberately fail tests or fail to do homework so that they don t appear to be too smart (Payne, 2013, p. 15). The need for acceptance at this point in students lives outdoes the will to achieve higher than their classmates. It is common in a middle school classroom to see students choosing to have friends over excelling academically (Payne, 2013). Judy Willis, an Edutopia blogger , asserts that appropriately challenging tasks are necessary for cognitive growth; if a task is too easy, . . . the brain is not alert for feedback and there is no activation of the dopamine reward response system (cited in Doubet, 2013, p. 10). The groceries are bagged and placed into the customer s car, and then I wait for the tip. The customer walks up, says Thank you, and drives away. Now all that is left for me to do is walk right back into the store and hope for better next time. This is a common scene I go through working in a DECA Commissary where the baggers work for tips only. Tips can be an immensely unfair system which allows a business to cut corners ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this is not always true; a customer s discrimination or unwillingness to tip can counteract any good impression an employee may make. A customer s tip will often be determined by how much they like an employee rather than the quality of their work. Tips may even be influenced by the worker s appearance and the customer s personal prejudices. In addition, since tipping is not required, many people will not tip, no matter how good the service is. All of this means hard work may not ensure decent pay. Instead, a business should give an employee a raise for good performance which is likely to amount to more than tips would. Supporters also sometimes claim that more money can be made through tips than a business would otherwise pay. In practice, however, I have rarely seen this happen. A good day of tips at the commissary is not enough to make up for several poor days and almost never brings my average pay for a week to more than minimum wage. • 31. Abiotic Factors Affecting The Quality Of Life Society There are several essential factors that contribute to the quality of life society enjoys today. One of these factors is the ability to produce crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, cotton, and several others. On occasion these crops experience stressors. These stressors can be from abiotic or biotic factors. Biotic stressors mainly include insect herbivores, whereas abiotic stressor mainly include temperature and water or lack thereof. It is vital to understand how crop react to these stressor in order to predict and possibly contradict the effect on the crops. When dealing with insect herbivores the outcome can be devastating. Insects can destroy large amounts of crops. To prevent insects from destroying crop, insecticides are used as well as transgenic crops are used. Abiotic factors such as drought can be more difficult. The total amount of semi arid land on earth is one third, and the rest of the land experiences unexpected drought occasionally (Fang and Xiong, 2015). This means that nearly all the crops in the world are at risk of experiencing some kind of water shortage. Due to these abiotic and biotic stressors, and extensive amount of research has been conducted and is still being conducted to minimize the negative effects. In between the handheld shots that progress through the city, there are shots of people that are vulnerable or hurt. • 41. The Genealogy Of Morals By Friedrich Nietzsche Essay PHIL 2030 Final Essay Alex Vanden Heuvel, Professor Lay, Fall Semester 2016 Responding to Prompt 1 On the Genealogy of Morals by Friedrich Nietzsche is typically listed as one of the most important philosophical works of the modern era. It is only modern, of course, to philosophical standards, being a mere 129 years old. It is also one of the most controversial works of its time, having the dubious distinction of being connected to Nazi ideology; it also has a not very subtle racist, sexist, and Darwinist bent that is a reflection of Nietzsche himself. That being said, I think that it is also serially misunderstood. Nietzsche directly mentions the role of interpretation in ethical discourse in the Genealogy, and the interpretive element factors heavily into one s understanding of the polemic and by extension, ethics philosophy as a whole. Throughout the book, Nietzsche uses interpretation as a tool in itself to make a constructivist and existentialist argument about the history of ethics as whole. His idea that man has used interpretation throughout history, and the interpretive elements in Genealogy outside of the historical analysis, seem to say that almost all ethics are derived from interpretation and therefore constructivist in nature, which is a heavily existentialist argument. For example, the entirety of the first essay is based heavily upon the role of interpretation in the development of the early ethical systems that Nietzsche argues are built on the ...
