This document summarizes research on evaluating the drought tolerance of different sweet potato cultivars grown in Mozambique. 48 cultivars were subjected to well-watered and drought conditions over two growing seasons. Drought reduced storage root yields, with some cultivars more affected than others. The best performing cultivars under drought had low stress tolerance and susceptibility indices and maintained high harvest indices. Plant length and petiole length were also reduced by drought. The study identified several cultivars, including MUSGP0646-126, Irene and Ivone, that showed drought tolerance and could be useful for breeding programs and farmer recommendations.
