• This is where most people came to
practice their own religion(Quakers)

• Main reason to moving here was
to make more money
• Almost entirely agricultural
• Plantations grew cash crops
Effects of Triangular Trade
• One of the consequences of the triangular trade
was that New England had a lot of rum-making
distilleries because that’s what they contributed
also they motivated other countries to start
shipbuilding
• Racism was born
• White superiority
• Slave profits created diverse enterprise
• The Americas was making so much money that
they eventually started to govern themselves
Effects of The Great Awakening
• People are now not afraid to confront religious
authority
• If you don’t like something about a religion
then you can branch off and start your own
• Colonists realized that political power does
not reside with English monarch but in self
governance
• Prepared America for war of independence
Effects of the Enlightenment
• Leaders of the revolution took a lot of ideas
from Enlightenment thinkers
• Locke’s concept of natural rights inspired
some rights in America
• Also the fact that not necessarily a king has to
rule and anybody can rule was adapted from
the enlightenment
• The concept of checks and balances also came
from the Enlightenment
