• In the end, Modigliani wins the competition. However he does not show up
to claim his prize because of his “demons”. He dies at the age of 35 of
tuberculosis. His pregnant companion Jeanne Hebuterne commits suicide a
day later.
• Picasso does not win the competition, but continues to have success in his
own lifetime, and the entire modern world knows his name.
