Modelibra is an open source software family for domain models, dynamic web applications, and team collaboration. It includes several components: ModelibraModeler is a graphical design tool for domain models that can generate code. ModelibraWicketSkeleton generates Eclipse projects with Wicket libraries and templates. Modelibra provides Java classes for domain models that work with various persistence layers and allow retrieval, addition, updating and removal of data. ModelibraWicket integrates Modelibra domain models into dynamic web applications built with the Wicket framework by using a component framework and allowing access to domain model data from web components and views.

However, they rely on the use of emerging web platform features such as the Shadow DOM, HTML Imports and Custom elements, which currently have limited browser support. But thanks to the Polymer project - a set of polyfills and an application framework using these principles – Web Components can be used today. They are bleeding edge, likely to change a bit and simultaneously insanely cool and undeniably useful. He also covered the service locator pattern and how it can reduce tight coupling. Finally, he demonstrated how to properly dispose of objects in PowerShell scripts using Start-SPAssignment and Stop-SPAssignment.
Planbox Backbone MVC
Migrating MVC to the Front-end using Backbone JS.
Planbox is a single-page web application for Agile project management. It was built using the traditional MVC stack with CodeIgniter (PHP) and jQuery (Javascript). AJAX was heavily used to update DOM elements to offer a dynamic user experience. UX logic code quickly became spread across Javascript and PHP. The application code base quickly became unmanageable and scaling functionality became difficult. Things had to change.
A decision was made to change architecture: bring all the UX logic in the front-end, and turn the back-end into an engine in charge of business logic.
This talk is about this experience. How we moved the MVC stack from the back-end to the front-end. How we used Backbone JS as the foundation of our front-end framework and built on top. How the backend became a black-box with a Restful API. What lessons we learned, what benefits we gained, and what reflections we made about the future of MVC in Javascript.

From Backbone to Ember and Back(bone) Again
As a software consultant, I get to see a lot of interesting code. In this particular instance a client was in the process of transforming their web application to a rich, interactive interface with the help of another company.
The project kicked off using Backbone and things were great. Until they were not great. Pages starting getting more and more involved and blame started being thrown at the technology choice.
A move to Ember.js ensued and the app was rewritten. But architecturally bad decisions don't hide long, and soon the rewrite was preforming even worse. That's when I stepped in, with the help of another consultant, to solve the performance issues once and for all. Our solution used Backbone.js and it was fast. This is that journey.

Model View Controller (MVC) is a software architectural pattern commonly used for developing web applications.
