A Strategic View of Enterprise Reporting and Analytics: The Data FunnelInside Analysis
The Briefing Room with Colin White and Jaspersoft
Slides from the Live Webcast on June 12, 2012
As the corporate appetite for analytics and reporting grows, companies must find a way to secure a strategic view of their information architecture. End users with varying degrees of expertise need a wide range of data and reports delivered in a timely fashion. As the audience for analytics expands, that puts pressure on IT infrastructure and staff. And now with the promise of Hadoop and MapReduce, the organization's desire for business insight becomes even more significant.
In this episode of The Briefing Room, veteran Analyst Colin White of BI Research will explain the value of being strategic with enterprise reporting. White will be briefed by Karl Van den Bergh of Jaspersoft, who will tout his company's “data funnel” concept, which is designed to strategically manage an organization's information architecture. By aligning information assets along this funnel, IT can effectively address the spectrum of analytical needs – from simple reporting to complex, ad hoc analysis – without over-taxing personnel and system resources.
The document analyzes BlackBerry's core competencies in enterprise services and business solutions, goals of shifting focus to providing better APIs and business apps to encourage development while maintaining current customers, and recommends strategic focus on retention and gaining share from competitors by emphasizing reliable enterprise solutions and technical support.
Agile BI : meeting the best of both worlds from departmental and enterprise BIJean-Michel Franco
The document discusses the need for business intelligence (BI) to evolve from a process-centric IT function to an information-centric service that empowers all users within an organization. It argues that BI must adopt agile methodologies to quickly deliver intelligence to both occasional and advanced users. The document presents a case study of Sanofi Pasteur, which implemented a new hybrid BI architecture and agile development approach to accelerate time-to-value, gain higher user acceptance, and increase the number of prototype projects launched each year.
1. The document discusses how the internet impacts corporate strategy and industry structure. It examines essential questions around how economic benefits will be distributed and how the internet will impact profitability and competitive advantage.
2. Three levels of e-business strategy are described from experimentation to integration to transformation. The stages of an e-business strategy process are also outlined.
3. Stage two of the process involves diagnosing the industry environment through analyzing competitors and benchmarking technology, as well as diagnosing the company through assessing customers, suppliers, technologies, and identifying SWOTs.
This document summarizes a presentation about bridging the divide between engineering and marketing teams. It outlines that execution failures often occur due to a breakdown in interaction between these groups. This is due to differences in their mental models and thinking - engineers see marketing as vague while marketers see engineering as rigid. The presentation explores how each group's context and thinking leads to conflicts, and provides examples of how to think of tasks and costs from the other perspective. It advocates breaking out of individual contexts into a shared company context and focusing on forward movement between contexts to demystify execution and create alignment.
This presentation on Open Source and Cloud Technologies was given by Vizuri SVP Joe Dickman at the 2012 Destination Marketing Technology Forum in Raleigh, NC. For more information please visit our website at www.vizuri.com or email solutions@vizuri.com.
The document analyzes BlackBerry's core competencies, products, and marketing strategy. It identifies BlackBerry's strengths in enterprise services, applications, and security. The strategic focus is on retaining current BlackBerry users and stealing market share from competitors like Apple and HTC through focusing marketing efforts on business smartphone users and those nearing the end of their contracts.
This document discusses the future of product lifecycle management (PLM) and manufacturing. It provides an overview of the European Commission's Factories of the Future public-private partnership program and its goals of making factories more productive, sustainable, and human-centric through the use of digital technologies. The document summarizes several European research projects in areas like comprehensive engineering platforms, simulation and virtual prototyping tools, and developing a vision and roadmap for manufacturing in 2020. The future of PLM is seen as more collaborative, mobile, connected, and intelligent to enable on-demand and customized manufacturing while reducing costs and environmental impacts.
BH&L Group US Pavilion for Shanghai 2010 World Expo, Jan 2009Bob Jacobson
The document proposes a plan for a US National Pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China. It argues that the US needs to have a significant presence at the Expo to promote American solutions to global problems. The proposed pavilion would use sustainable building methods and feature interactive exhibits on topics like energy, water, air, food, and health. It provides cost estimates and an urgent timeline to design, build, and operate the pavilion by the start of the Expo in May 2010.
The document discusses the company buying experience, which involves managing the relationship between a company and its customers through touchpoints. It describes the four elements of a company's buying experience: 1) themes, 2) customer value propositions, 3) touchpoints, and 4) a score that relates the touchpoints. It then outlines Gemba's seven-step process for crafting a client's buying experience, which involves defining themes, developing propositions, auditing touchpoints, composing a score, prototyping, activating, and evaluating the experience.
Bob provides a 9-step prescription for driving innovation and change within an organization. The steps include confronting reality, gaining CEO support, developing compelling leadership, hiring innovators, removing blockers, doing mission-driven work, speaking the business language, putting customers first, and building on successes. Bob notes that while there are many theories, successful organizations repeat similar steps.
Strategic Design + Co Creation Innovation For Services 22 Feb 2008Bob Jacobson
The DESINOVA Project in Denmark from 2008-2009 had four primary objectives: 1) catalyze 10 successful service innovation projects, 2) make participating companies more capable of service innovation, 3) develop a Service Innovation Model, and 4) make policy recommendations. It involved collaboration between service companies, design consultancies, anthropologists, artists and social scientists. The project evaluated 10 service innovation projects across various industries and developed a Service Innovation Model to guide future collaborations.
Wayfinding is a methodology that can help new businesses navigate an uncertain business world. It involves building a dynamic "virtual world" model of the business environment that accounts for multiple interacting dimensions or "strata", such as the competitive landscape, technology trends, and economic conditions. This virtual world model provides a more accurate representation of reality than typical reports and analyses. Executives can then use wayfinding techniques to map out their optimal path to success by characterizing features in the various strata and monitoring changes in the virtual world over time. Wayfinding draws on humans' innate spatial reasoning abilities and can give businesses a competitive advantage over those relying only on limited traditional analyses.
