ABSTRACT
● Mixed reality boundaries establish transparent windows between physical and
virtual spaces. It introduce a set of properties that allow such boundaries to be
configured to support different styles of co-operative activity. These properties
are grouped into three categories: properties of visibility, audibility and solidity,
properties of location, alignment, mobility and segmentation and dynamics
properties of lifetime and configurability. It discuss how each of these properties
can be technically realised. It also introduce the meta-properties of symmetry
and representation. It describe and compare two contrasting demonstrations, a
performance and an office-door, that rely on different property configurations.
WHAT IS AUGMENTED REALITY?
Augmented reality is that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user's
view of the real world, thus providing a composite view.
WHAT IS VIRTUAL REALITY ?
Virtual reality is a computer-generated scenario that simulates a realistic
experience. The immersive environment can be similar to the real world in order to
create a lifelike experience grounded in reality or sci-fi.
WHAT IS MIXED REALITY ?
Mixed reality is the result of blending the physical world with the digital world It is
made possible by advancements in computer vision, graphical processing power,
display technology, and input systems.
Mixed reality (MR), sometimes referred to as hybrid reality is the merging of real
and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations where physical
and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AR, VR, MR
PROPERTIES OF MIXED REALITY
● Blends the real and the synthetic into a single landscape & experience
● Addresses multiple senses
● Typically requires complex behaviors of virtual characters
● Enables buy-in through imagination
APPLICATION OF MIXED REALITY
● IPCM- Interactive product content management
● SIMULATION BASED TRAINING
● MILITARY TRAINING
● PRODUCT DESIGN
● REAL ASSET VIRTUALIZATION ENVIRONMENT
● VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
● REMOTE WORKING
● AVIATION
● HEALTH CARE
● FUNTIONAL MOCK-UP
DEVICES USE FOR MIXED REALITY
THERE ARE MULTIPLE DEVICES THAT SUPPORT MIXED REALITY RIGHT NOW IN
THE MARKET.
● MICROSOFT HOLOLENS
● ACER HMD MIXED REALITY HEADSET
MICROSOFT HOLOLENS
WHAT IS MICROSOFT HOLOLENS ?
● Microsoft HoloLens is a virtual reality (VR) headset with transparent lenses for
an augmented reality experience. According to Microsoft, HoloLens is a “fully
untethered, see-through holographic computer.” HoloLens allows users to
experience 3D holographic images as though they are a part of their
environment.
FEATURES OF MICROSOFT HOLOLENS
● 2GB RAM
● 64GB FLASH MEMORY
● DEPTH CAMERA
● 2MP PHOTO & VIDEO CAMERA
● 4 ENVIRONMENT UNDERSTANDING CAMERAS
● 4 MICROPHONES
● MICRO USB 2.0
● AUDIO 3.5MM JACK
● AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR
● WI-FI 802.11AC
● BLUETOOTH 4.1 LE
USES OF MICROSOFT HOLOLENS
MICROSOFT HOLOLENS CAN BE USE IN ANY FIELD, IT DESIGNED TO HELP
HUMAN TO GET EASY LIFE. SOME OF THEIR USES ARE :
● SEMI MANUFACTURING
● EDUCATION
• ARCHITECTURE
● PRODUCT DESIGN
● REMOTE SERVICES
● RESEARCH AND SCIENCE
● GAMING & ENTERTAINMENT
● DAILY NEEDS
• TOOLS USE TO DEVELOP MIXED REALITY APPS
● Visual Studio 2017
● HoloLens Emulator and Holographic Templates
● Unity 2017.4
● Vuforia
• ADVANTAGES
● Easy to Wear and use
● Sensitive and Responsive to the presence of people
● HoloLens can be used in army field where detailed instruction can be given to the
untrained person in combat.
● A Spectacle based computer to reside directly.
● No phones, no wires, no tethers.
● Lightweight and adjustable to fit any adult size. Work and play comfortably.
• DISADVANTAGES
● Can be easily damaged or broken. User will have a tough time to taking care
of it.
● It may lead to accident while driving.
● Cost of device is very high.
● Maintenance of this device is high.
• CONCLUSION
● Considering the present technology’s and their performance Microsoft
HoloLens is far ahead than all the existing technologies. It uses advance
sensors, a high-definition stereoscopic 3D optical head-mounted display, and
spatial sound to allow to augmented reality applications, with a nature user
interface that the user interact with trough gaze, voice and hand gestures that
gives you ways to go beyond the screen, and gives you more natural way to
interact. HoloLens is a thing where you can connect, create what you imagine,
visualize your work, collaborate and explore. HoloLens with Holographic
processing unit, sensor fusion, power and grace, advanced optics, build in
speakers, spatial sound gives you the new augmented or virtual world over
real world.
Thank You
