An Outdoor Science Experience
Grades 4-6
The Lindbergh Student Activities Office is offering a science enrichment class for students who wish
to learn in an outdoor classroom of forest, prairies, and wetlands. Students will explore, discover,
and investigate real Missouri habitats in order to expand their knowledge of natural history and
life science.
The class will be taught at the Gempp Conservation Area on Sappington Road, between Gravois
and Eddie & Park for a total outdoor science experience. The class will meet from 9-11 a.m. on
Saturdays. Classes meet January through May. This allows students to see the changes
in the environment with the seasons.
Class dates are January 26, Feb. 16, March 9, 16, April 13, 27, and May 11, 2013
The class will be taught by LHS biology and science teacher, Steve Tomey. The 14-acre
GEMPP property is an ideal classroom for hands-on ecology. Students are to meet in the parking
lot each morning of class with a water bottle and be prepared for seasonal weather.
