Tony Bury, founder of the Mowgli Foundation (a mentoring organisation for entrepreneurs) suggests in this presentation to Family Forum International that injecting a spirit of entrepreneurship is the key to passing businesses from generation to generation in the Arab World.

Developing a Diverse Workforce in Japanese CompaniesNozomi Morgan
What does diversity in the workforce really mean? Traditionally, diversity centered around ethnicity, race, and gender. Now, with multi-generational and multi-cultural businesses on the rise, a conversation about diversity means addressing how well companies can collaborate - and that comes from experience, background, and perspective. As the “old way” of thinking begins to ebb, diverse organizations will shine and become irresistible to young talent, as well as retain top employees in a shifting global economy. Awareness, communication, and an ongoing dialogue about inclusion are key to the continued success of multinational businesses.
Although 88 percent of companies measure employee engagement, few organizations succeed in creating an engagement-driven culture. Gallup surveys show that 68 percent of U.S. employees are “not engaged” or “actively disengaged”—resulting in lost organizational productivity and industry competitiveness.
In this interactive webinar, corporate performance experts discuss innovative ways to mobilize and sustain employee engagement by moving beyond metrics to actions that drive business results. By converting retrospective assessments into foresight-focused performance tools, managers and talent professionals can energize the organizational culture and boost business outcomes.
In this webinar, attendees will learn:
Practical “to-do’s” for improving employee engagement immediately.
Best practices for promoting sustainable, affordable engagement over time.
Tips to strengthen engagement through employee skill-building and career development.
Insights for fueling an engagement-friendly learning culture.

Mile Future Of Executive Development At The Muslim And Arab Worldmilemadinah
This presentation highlights the immense leadership deficit that our region suffers from. It also demonstrates how our educational and training institutions, both at corporate and government levels, fall short in catering for the enormous leadership development requirements in the region. The presentation sheds the light on a new strategic initiative to establish a world-class executive and leadership development institution which aims at bridging this gap. The initiative aims at building local intellectual capital and is based on a sustainable business model that ensures sustainability and provision of high quality, affordable and relevant life-long development opportunities to our future business leaders. The Madinah Institute for Leadership and Entrepreneurship (MILE) was initiated as one of Savola Group’s CSR programs. MILE is a non-profit organization and will be established at the heart of the Arab and Muslim World at the Madinah Knowledge Economic City. MILE’s first pilot program which attracted more than 150 senior executives from 16 countries has provided a strong evidence of the viability of the proposed model.

The MENA region has been undergoing a tremendous amount of turmoil over the past few years. Unemployment levels in the region continue to be the highest in the world at 11.7% with youth unemployment rising beyond this at 28.2% and 30.5% across the Middle East and North Africa respectively. Continuous political and economic instability has created major challenges in the form of staggering unemployment rates as well as falling education and literacy levels amongst youth and women, leading to a growing income inequality gap and a leadership vacuum. In addition, public sectors in the region cannot continue carrying the load of employing more and more people with their declining budgets.
Adding to these challenges, the mass migration of over one million refugees from war-torn countries into Europe has also spread the unemployment challenges across Europe, with youth unemployment levels reaching 20% in two thirds of European countries. Whilst many migrants fled their countries because of armed conflicts, many also left due to economic hardship. For European countries, the future does not look promising as the potential numbers in the coming years are extremely alarming and worrying, adding to the current unemployment and economic situation of some countries.
