The scene takes place in a dark, small cave where a group of climbers encounter creatures. They are wearing climbing equipment like helmets and harnesses as they slowly climb the cave walls. The naked creatures attack in a crawling manner. The only lighting comes from the helmet lamps and infrared camera light. Diegetic sounds are used to further the realism of being in the cave, including echoes and water, adding to the suspense without non-diegetic musical cues.

2. Location
This scene of The Descent takes place within a dark and small cave where they
encounter the creatures. They have been exploring this cave and have come to
this part. We know this as they are wearing climbing equipment and because
of the walls they are climbing in the darkness.

3. Costume / Body Movement
The characters are all wearing climbing equipment such as helmets and
harnesses around their waists. This is to protect them if they fall. The
creatures that attack them are naked as they are wearing no clothing. The
body movement is them climbing the walls slowly and carefully so they don’t
fall. However once they see the creatures they become very manic by running
away as they are panicking. The creature is crawling around on all fours to
show it is not human. The creature would be an actor in a costume.

5. Props
The props used are a rope to climb up
the wall. As well as this, the bones found
once they climb up the wall would be
props. As well as this the lamps that are
attached to the helmets would also be
props. The camera recorded used is also
a prop. The lighter is also a prop.

6. Lights
The only lighting is from the light attached to the helmets. This is because
they are cave exploring and this is the only lighting that you could see. When
they use the camera a infrared light tint lighting is used in pair with the lights
from the helmet.

7. Diegetic Sound
This scene uses all diegetic sound because this further adds to the realism of
them being in a cave. It is trying to put the audience in the cave with them as
they hear every echo and footstep as well as the water running because this
adds to the suspense.

8. Non-Diegetic Sound
There is no non-diegetic sound as it further adds to the realism of them being
in a cave. This also adds to the tension as without musical cues there is no
heads up as to what is happening which means the audience reacts to the
creatures as the explorers do.
