MINUTES
April 21, 2016 – Niskayuna Town Hall
Attending: Daphne Jordan, Halfmoon; Will Seyse, Scotia; Ed Tremblay, Cohoes; Laura
Robertson, Niskayuna; Larry Syzdek, Clifton Park; Eric Hamilton, Clifton Park; Henrietta
O’Grady, at large. Proxy received from Town of Glenville.
Minutes from the January 21 were accepted in a motion by Eric and seconded by Will.
Treasurer’s Report: Ed reported checkbook balance of $1,105.43 and savings account of
$33,333.67 for total assets of $34,439.10.
Correspondence:
Letter of comments on the Colonie Landfill Expansion plan.
Letter of support sent for Erie Barge Canal to be listed as a National Historic Landmark.
Old Business
Website Progress (http://whatasweet.website/dev/mohawkpath/). Eric showed the progress and
reported that that site is coming along nicely. Pictures are needed for the site. Should be
completed by summertime.
Byway Directional Signs – Many are showing signs of fading. Eric requested that
representatives report any which will require replacement in their communities.
Scotia needs to be included in the cell phone tour as Stop 16.
New Business
The Byway’s Business Plan was discussed. As a result of a presentation by Ray Patterson, it has
been determined that the Byway is lacking committee chairs to meet Objectives I, II & III of the
plan. Eric is actively recruiting and looking for volunteers.
Chairman’s Report
The Audubon Society has an interest in the Vischer Ferry Preserve and the new connector trail to
be constructed. Larry suggested preparing a working partnership agreement with Audubon.
Municipal support is encouraging. Four communities have contributed to date. Villages
contribute under auspices of towns.
Executive Director’s Report
Eric thanked the volunteers to assisted at the Adirondack Sports and Fitness Expo held in
Saratoga Springs. Another expo is being held in Penn Station in NYC.
Interpretive Sign Project - Eric reported that the he had met with the Town of Niskayuna about
Aqueduct Park. He and Henny are working with the Spindle City Historic Society on the
Cohoes kiosk. He also is submitting a NYSDOT grant reimbursement request for $1,316.40.
Volunteer Time: Members were asked record their volunteer and in-kind service time and to
submit them to Eric to be used for documentation of local share for grants.
Next meeting scheduled: July 21 at Cohoes Visitor Center, Remsen St., Cohoes, NY
