The VPI Clinic addresses resonance problems in children through three appointments: a speech assessment, videofluoroscopy, and possibly nasendoscopy. The speech assessment evaluates nasal tone and articulation. Videofluoroscopy uses x-rays to observe soft palate and throat muscle movement during speech. Nasendoscopy employs a camera through the nose to directly view these areas, aiding recommendations for treatment which may include surgery or speech therapy. The clinic aims to determine the cause of a child's resonance problems and suggest options to address it.
