Migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL: NEED vs REALITYAshnikbiz
Some of the largest organization in the world today are going cost-efficient by innovating their database layer. Migrating workloads from legacy systems to an enterprise open source database technology like Postgres is a preferred choice for many.
This document discusses how organizations can transform their database management systems (DBMS) to drive customer engagement and innovation initiatives. It argues that moving from expensive, proprietary DBMS to open-source PostgreSQL can free up 35-80% of IT budgets. This "found money" can then be invested in customer-focused applications, analytics, mobile, and other technologies to strengthen brands and avoid competitive threats. The document presents EnterpriseDB as a partner that can help organizations migrate to their PostgreSQL-based database platform for security, performance, compatibility with other databases, and enterprise-level support.
The document provides an overview of database migration options using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT). It discusses how DMS can be used to migrate databases across different database platforms with minimal downtime. It also outlines how SCT can be used to convert schemas from commercial databases to open-source databases like PostgreSQL. The document shares customer examples and benefits of using DMS and SCT for heterogeneous, scale-up, and split migrations. It also lists available resources for customers on DMS and SCT.

The document discusses leveraging major market opportunities with Microsoft Azure. It notes that worldwide cloud software revenue is expected to grow significantly between 2010-2017. By 2017, nearly $1 of every $5 spent on applications will be consumed via the cloud. It also discusses how large enterprises will have hybrid cloud deployments by the end of 2017 and over 50% of customers are leveraging the cloud. The document outlines several major enterprise workloads that can run on Azure and the benefits of doing so. It provides revenue estimates for running different workloads on Azure based on small, medium, and large scenarios. Finally, it discusses how the Microsoft Partner Network can help partners engage with opportunities in areas like cloud services, managed services, and third party

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

6. Why migrate to SQL Server?
• Lower TCO (total cost of ownership)
• Data platform modernization
• More secure, more performance
• Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant
• Hybrid capabilities - path to cloud
SQL Server is our mission critical OLTP database with industry-leading TPC-E performance benchmarks. We’ve been recognized by Gartner as a leader in Operational Database Management four years in a row.
Azure SQL Database is the cloud answer to managing your operational data - built on SQL Server, so your existing applications and skills transfer. And as a managed database service, so it can save you time and money in both set-up and administration.
DocumentDB is our database-as-a-service NoSQL database service designed for modern mobile and web applications.
SQL Server continues to be viable for data warehousing. Today we have companies doing petabyte scale data warehousing in a scale up SMP architecture just with SQL Server.
Azure SQL Data Warehouse is the industry’s first enterprise-class cloud data warehouse that can grow, shrink, and pause in seconds.
Azure Data Lake - Offers data management and analytics at scale to customers, as Azure Data Lake. It is composed of three parts: Azure Data Lake Store, Azure Data Lake Analytics, and HD Insight. Together with these products, you can store big data of any size and type, and analyze it with familiar open-source tools – all while getting a leading, enterprise-class SLA.
