This document outlines the requirements for two presentations for a course. The mid-term presentation (30%) due in week 8 requires students to discuss one of the social media tools from a provided website, how it could be used in their own practice and readings from the course. Feedback from other students must also be addressed. The final presentation (40%) due in week 12 involves creating a concept map of the student's personal learning environment and social network, mapping out content and connections. It should integrate a concept from an earlier map and reasoning for the student's approach to their own learning.

1. Mid Term Presentation (30%) week 8
This presentation must include an in-depth discussion of one of the tools laid out in the
“100+ examples of use of social media for learning” website (available at:
http://c4lpt.co.uk/social-learning-handbook/100-examples-of- use-of-social-media-for-
learning/) and it must be contextualized to both your own practice as well as the
readings and discussions explored during the course. We will be looking for your
response to feedback generated from other students in week 8 as well as how working
on this project has the potential to 'go forward' into your professional work. See rubric for

A presentation delivered using the virtual classroom (Adobe Connect) to be based on
any tool selected from “100+ examples of use of social media for learning site.”
Presentation should address the four components:
Justification for choosing tools
Pros and Cons associated with its
specific use in your school or
professional context
Tools ability support present or future
work in that professional or personal
area
Comprehensibility in synchronous and
asynchronous setting
Final Term Presentation: Personal Learning Environment/Concept Map (Mapping
out your content and social network) (40%) week 12
Concept maps are tools that allow learners to express how they view concepts. Review
Introduction to Concept Mapping (.pdf) for more information. For your concept map, we
suggest using the free CMAP tool. Feel free to use other tools that may be available to
you. For your concept map task in Week 4, feel free to choose any concept, but make
sure it links to your Personal Learning Environment (PLE). While the CMAP is not your
final assignment, it does help in the design of PLE (which is your final project). Explore
ways of integrating your concept map into your PLE.
The list of PLE's introduced in week four should also be seen as the backdrop for this
final assignment. The more detailed of those concept maps includes a blog post that
contextualizes not only the individual pieces of the given map but also the reasoning for
approaching a Personal Learning Environment in the way that is chosen. A solid
understanding of how you like to organize your own learning is a key output of this
course and will hopefully be visible in your map.
