Advanced SharePoint Web Part DevelopmentRob Windsor
Web Parts are the foundation of user interfaces in SharePoint. As a developer, it's relatively easy (particularly with the Visual Web Part) to build something simple and get it deployed. But what do you do when you need to add editable properties or when you need to connect two Web Parts together? This fast-paced, demo-heavy session covers the more advanced aspects of building Web Parts for SharePoint on-premises and SharePoint Online. We’ll take a look at creating custom editor parts, constructing connected Web Parts, and how to render Web Parts asynchronously. We’ll also explore how to build JavaScript-only Web Parts that will work with SharePoint Online.

The document discusses various options for accessing and updating data in SharePoint lists, including CAML queries, REST APIs, and LINQ to SharePoint. CAML queries allow retrieving and filtering list items using XML syntax. REST APIs expose SharePoint data via OData feeds that can be consumed by remote applications. LINQ to SharePoint allows strongly-typed querying of lists using LINQ and generates CAML under the hood.
This document provides an introduction and overview of ASP.NET and Web Forms. It discusses the background of ASP and how ASP.NET was developed to address challenges with ASP. The key features of ASP.NET, including Web Forms, Web Services, and the .NET Framework are described. The document then covers the ASP.NET programming model based on controls and events, and how postbacks maintain page state without requiring additional code. It also introduces the ASP.NET object model and server-side controls.

Introduction to the SharePoint Client Object Model and REST APIRob Windsor
As Microsoft was releasing SharePoint 2013 it was pretty clear that they were steering people away from using the product as a portal to using it as a gateway to external systems and services. Since the Server Object Model cannot be used remotely, developers building these external systems will need to become familiar with the Client Object Model (CSOM) and/or the REST API if they want to communicate with SharePoint. This session will introduce these two APIs, give a brief overview of their history, and then show you how to get started using them through a series of demonstrations.

In particular, we’re going to look at
- How Firebase Auth works, and why you should use it
- How to let users sign in without even having to come up with a password
- What Anonymous Auth is all about and why you should care
- How to make signing in on iOS more magical
- How to integrate Firebase Auth and Sign in with Apple

ASP.NET is a web application framework developed and marketed by Microsoft to allow programmers to build dynamic web sites. It allows you to use a full featured programming language such as C# or VB.NET to build web applications easily.
This tutorial covers all the basic elements of ASP.NET that a beginner would require to get started.
Audience
This tutorial has been prepared for the beginners to help them understand basic ASP.NET programming. After completing this tutorial you will find yourself at a moderate level of expertise in ASP.NET programming from where you can take yourself to next levels.
Prerequisites
Before proceeding with this tutorial, you should have a basic understanding of .NET programming language. As we are going to develop web-based applications using ASP.NET web application framework, it will be good if you have an understanding of other web technologies such as HTML, CSS, AJAX. etc
ASP.NET supports three different development models:
Web Pages, MVC (Model View Controller), and Web Forms.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
