Microsoft is now the largest software company in the world and produces the widely popular Windows operating system and Microsoft Office software suite. Microsoft's initial public offering in 1986 made many employees into billionaires and millionaires. The company rose to dominance with its MS-DOS operating system in the 1980s and continues to be dominant in PC operating systems and office software.
