Background ofMichigan Children’s Trust Fund Established in 1982 Michigan’s only source of permanent funding for the statewide prevention of child abuse and neglect  Marquette and Alger local council was founded in 1919
Framework of Children’s Trust Fund Non-profit organization Zero to Three Program “Never Shake a Baby” Campaign michigan.gov/ctf Pinwheel
Objectives Strengths Serve 82 out of the 83 counties Weaknesses Not enough name recognition Opportunities Seek out new ways of getting funding for programs Threats Low budgets
Our Approach Surveyed North Star Academy in Marquette, MI Key questions  What is emotional child abuse? Does anyone in your household drink alcohol daily? Are you familiar with Children’s Trust Fund? How likely are you to purchase a t-shirt to support the Michigan Children’s Trust fund?
How Would We Begin? Where Do We Want to Be? How Do We Get There? Why Are We There? Evaluate Where Are We?
Where Are We? Key findings: Among 30 surveys, most students did know that child abuse was common.   The majority thought that strangers pose greatest risk to children, but in fact that is not true. Most were more than willing to donate one dollar  to the Children’s Trust Fund to help raise awareness. Survey takers replied they were more than likely  to report child abuse to the authorities.
Why Are We There? Raise awareness and educate of Child Abuse and Neglect for Michigan Children’s Trust Fund.  Sympathetic, encouraging, and empowering individuals and families to seek and take the first steps.
Where Do We Want To Be? More well-known More funding April to be more widely known as Child Abuse Month Individuals to become more aware on child abuse

  • 6. Our Approach Surveyed North Star Academy in Marquette, MI Key questions What is emotional child abuse? Does anyone in your household drink alcohol daily? Are you familiar with Children’s Trust Fund? How likely are you to purchase a t-shirt to support the Michigan Children’s Trust fund?
  • 7. How Would We Begin? Where Do We Want to Be? How Do We Get There? Why Are We There? Evaluate Where Are We?
  • 8. Where Are We? Key findings: Among 30 surveys, most students did know that child abuse was common. The majority thought that strangers pose greatest risk to children, but in fact that is not true. Most were more than willing to donate one dollar to the Children’s Trust Fund to help raise awareness. Survey takers replied they were more than likely to report child abuse to the authorities.
  • 9. Why Are We There? Raise awareness and educate of Child Abuse and Neglect for Michigan Children’s Trust Fund. Sympathetic, encouraging, and empowering individuals and families to seek and take the first steps.
