SEPTEMBER  16 In September the 16th, the Mexican war of independence started with the revolutionary Miguel Hidalgo. In the town of Dolores he urged the people to revolt against the Spanish to liberarte Mexico.  Miguel Hidalgo was beheaded one year later and successed by another, and the next as well. The call expanded to neighboring townsand thus the war began.  Today the event is remembered in the town square of every major city in Mexico. The largest celebration occurs in Mexico City.
SEPTEMBER 13 This was the day of the battle of chapultepec.  We lost against the american army and 6 teenagers where the last to survive, and with their heroism they defended their flag.
SEPTEMBER 20 This was the day when Monterrey was founded by Diego Montemayor, under the name of  Ciudad Metropolitana de Nuestra Señora de Monterrey  . Monterrey remained a small city of little importance until the independence war and afterwards. It remained an active hub for trade with San Antonio and the coast.  Monterrey was named the capital of Nuevo Leon, making it more important.  By the 20th century and afterwards, Monterrey experienced steady growth until what it is today.
