September 13th commemorates the Battle of Chapultepec and the Niños Héroes, 6 Mexican military cadets ages 13 to 20 who died defending Chapultepec Castle against American forces. September 16th marks the beginning of Mexico's war for independence, started by Miguel Hidalgo's call to arms in 1810. November 20th marks the beginning of the Mexican Revolution in 1910 against the dictatorship of Porfirio Díaz, a social revolution led by Francisco Madero that ended with Díaz's exile in 1911.
