2. September 13 On September 13, 1847, the war against the USA took place at the Castillo of Chapultepec. The Niños Heroes were the principal people that defended the Castillo of Chapultepec. The Niños Heroes were Juan de la Barrera, Juan Escutia, AgustínMelgar, Fernando Montes de Oca, Vicente Suárez, and Francisco Márquez. These kids were students of the military school, they were between 13 an 17 years old.The war started because the USA wanted to obtain the territories of North California and New Mexico. Mexico was loosing the battle and Juan Escutia hold the Mexican flag and jumped from the Castillo de Chapultepec and he died. Mexico lost the war at the end.

September16 On September 16 Miguel Hidalgo made the famous “El Grito” that was “¡Viva México!, ¡Viva nuestraIndependencia! ¡Vivan los héroesquenosdieron Patria!” Now, every September 15 at midnight or in other words on September 16 all the mexicans make “El Grito” to celebrate the Mexican Independece Day.
