Mumbai metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Mumbai and surrounding areas. It aims to reduce traffic congestion and supplement the overcrowded local train network. The system will ultimately comprise eight lines totaling 235km in length, with 200 stations. Line 1 opened in 2014 and is currently operational, while several other lines are under construction with the entire system expected to be complete by 2025.
