1) According to the International Energy Agency, the world will continue to rely heavily on fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas for energy by 2030 despite countries pledging to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Over a billion people currently lack access to electricity globally.
2) Scientists and experts have warned about the implications of exploiting natural resources for economic growth in a way that disregards human safety and the environment. Developed and developing countries typically blame each other for issues at international forums while billions suffer from energy poverty.
3) The keynote speaker believes renewable, clean, and green energy and energy efficiency will play crucial roles in mitigating emissions, improving energy security, and providing energy access if technologies improve,

An energy crisis is any great bottleneck (or price rise) in the supply of energy resources to an economy. In popular literature though, it often refers to one of the energy sources used at a certain time and place, particularly those that supply national electricity grids or serve as fuel for vehicles

Renewable energy not in the news 04092020 finalTony Green
Considering climate change, the Green New Deal, the upcoming presidential election, and now the outbreak of the Coronavirus there has little news about renewable energy. While not in the headlines Renewable Energy technologies had been quietly added, slowly but surely moving to a world which produces its energy without fossil fuels. But adoption is not guaranteed, and certain things need to happen before the renewable energy future which has been promised can become a reality.

I believe that ‘sustainable energy’ has become like a catchphrase, which is often misused by people who don’t really know what does ‘sustainability’ really entail. That is why I decided to devote most of this lecture to debunking some of the most common myths that are usually associated when talking about sustainable energy.

World Energy Council report- on innovation, year 2017
Views are by the Council, and not necessarily the views of the EFOW practice: how to drive change - and what deserves our time, organisation and investments.
After multiple discussions around the world, this is an emerging view on the future of energy that is being shared for further comment and feedback. Events in London, Dubai, Shanghai, Delhi and New York have explored key drivers of change. Other events elsewhere have added in additional perspectives.

Global Energy Interconnection (GEI) is a modern energy system featuring clean energy as the priority, electricity as the center, global interconnection, joint construction and sharing. GEI is essentially “Smart Grid+ UHV + Clean Energy”.
Message from Keynote Speaker Dr Deepak Waikar for ICESA-2015 Pune India
1. Message from the Keynote Speaker
According to International Energy Agency, in spite of pledges by various countries to reduce
greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions, world is expected to continue to rely on fossilised
energy (coal, oil & gas) by 2030. Globally, over billion people lack access to electricity.
Scientists, experts and scholars have been warning about implications of colossal disregard
for human safety and environment in exploiting natural energy resources for our insatiable
greed for economic growth and aping of rising lavish life style of the rich. Usual blame game
is routinely played at international forums & summits by vested interests in developing and
developed nations, while billons of people continue to suffer in abject energy poverty.
Is such business as usual behaviour of the substantial section of the global community
sustainable?
Energy security, on the other hand, is becoming illusive with the dominance of few players in
the market, poor energy governance mechanisms, volatile prices, rampant wastage, reckless
leakages and geopolitical conflicts in supply chains. Conflicting scenarios, concerted
lobbying by industries and lack of political will have been cited as some of the major barriers
for transition to low carbon economy and subsequent transformation to a decarbonised
economy. Policy makers, researchers, academics, businesses, industries and communities
have been evaluating sustainable alternatives, albeit at snail’s pace.
However, in spite of many challenges and hurdles, renewable, clean & green energy and
energy efficiency are expected to play crucial roles in mitigating GHGs emissions, enhancing
energy security and reaching out to the remotest part of the globe as technologies improve,
prices decline, awareness spreads and good energy governance prevails. In this respect,
allow me to share following lines from one of my compositions:
Generation of waste, we have to trim
Switch off excessive lights or make them dim
Let us use energy resources that are efficient and clean
Keep our planet clean and green
Therefore, the International Conference on Energy Systems and Application (ICESA-2015)
with an aim to provide forum for exchange of scientific research in the state of the art of
technological advances is not only timely but also in line with the vision for sustainable
development of the nation and most importantly sustainability of our planet.
As this conference deals with energy engineering & technologies and energy policies &
practices, many interesting concepts & innovative ideas are expected to be shared through
scholarly research articles, keynote, plenary, panel discussion and technical sessions. How
such concepts & innovative ideas can be fructified into viable alternatives that can enhance
energy research, synergize energy education, training and skills development culture in
institutions, in industries and throughout communities will determine usefulness as well as
value of the conference in foreseeable future.
It is envisaged that after the thought provoking deliberations and exchange of views at
ICESA-2015, Energy, Engineering, Environment, Entrepreneurship and Education (E5
) will
become key pillars for prudent harnessing & utilization of energy resources, reducing energy
2. poverty, enhancing socioeconomic prosperity and most importantly sustainable development
for humanity.
Let me conclude with the following lines:
Clean Energy, Green Energy
Ignite that hope for the Future
Let us Preserve, Let us Nurture
Clean, Green & Sustainable Culture
Creation and sharing of knowledge about production, transportation and utilization of clean,
green and sustainable energy resources through this conference will aptly resonate with the
vision of “Electricity for all” and “ व छ भारत अ भयान” (Clean India Movement) of Shri
Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India.
I would like to congratulate the committee members of IEEE-ICESA-2015 led by Dr. D.Y.
Patil Institute of Engineering and Technology, Pune for planning and organisation of the
conference. I am confident that this conference will set a benchmark for others to emulate and
I wish grand success for the conference.
I am hopeful that after the conclusion of this prestigious IEEE international conference, all of
those involved will strive to reach even greater heights in E5
. I am personally looking forward
to listen to, interact and learn from invited speakers, experts and fellow delegates of this
international conference.
Thank you,
With best wishes to all,
