ISCT™ 400 series formulas provide ~99% mercury mass removal from a variety of metal
alloys (carbon and duplex stainless steels) and depth profiles (corrosion profile to metal
substrate) without damaging process equipment (effective from 10 - 65º+ C) and are used
for 1) process risk reduction, 2) minimising occupational exposure risks to personnel during
maintenance events, 3) near total and total mass removal from high-value equipment for
reuse and 4) total mass removal from assets scheduled for decommissioning (subsea pipe-
lines, topside processing equipment, FPSO cargo holds, and shore based hydrocarbon
processing plants). 400 series formulations are designed for a range of hydrocarbon
removal/degassing and mercury removal options simultaneously (i.e., 69C is formulated to
remove hydrocrbon/mercury/phyroporic iron/H2S in a single chemical phase).
Eight formulas make up the 400 series: our alkaline formulations are powerful surface
cleaners and scale removers with various proprietary blends of surfactants, chelants,
corrosion inhibitors, pH adjustment agents, sequestering agents and hydrogen sulfide
scavengers that allow rapid penetration and reduction of heavy metals in hydrocarbon
processing systems. Mercury mass loading per surface area, distribution, depth profile and
mercury species are the key factors for formula selection. 400 series acid based chemistries
are strong to extremely powerful acid blends/scale removal formulas with controlled foam-
ing, various corrosion inhibitors, wetting agents, oxidants, hydrogen sulfide scavengers, and
hydrogen embrittlement inhibitors that allow controlled penetration and scale removal to
metal substrates.
66C and 69C are provided in concentrates with reactive compounds and oxidizers added
via in-line static mixer on site. For complex corrosion profiles and high mercury mass loaded
steels, 69C & 66C when used sequentially, are capable of removing 100% mercury mass per
surface area.

3. SeriesFormulas
66C and 66CE are 2 formulas in the 400 series developed for hydrocarbon/mercury and other contaminates
removal from subsea pipelines and process equipment for chemical decontamination in preparation for decomis-
sioning. Carbon and stainless steel are excellent scavengers of mercury from process streams such that subsea
pipelines and processing systems can have loading rates >100 g/m2. 66C can hold > 100 ppm mercury in solution
and field adjustments can increase solubility if required. All 400 series alkaline formulas can be used in chemical
pig trains at optimal viscosities in addition to a range of gel chemical applications for FPSOs, FGSOs, FSOs and
onshore processing plants. For subsea pipeline applications, ISCT™ has developed a computer program to predict
the location and speed of the lead pig and subsequent gel pigs without using a smart pig.
66CE
66CE and 69CE were designed to meet sustainability objectives of energy clients without compromising perfor-
mance and efficacy. Both 66CE and 69CE can be applied using a variety of methods to meet variable objectives
and performance criteria. Process equipment application methods include low to high pressure spray systems,
equipment immersion systems, gels and thixotrophic gels for pigging applications, vapor phase, foaming, cascade
and full circulation. ISCT™ can provide onsite chemical performance measurements for process systems decontam-
ination to verify a range of objectives inclusive of assessments for determining mass loading of metals in process,
distribution/speciation, accumulation and onsit analysis of chemistries to determine hydrocarbon and mercury
uptake over time. Prior to COP, ISCT™ can connect to process our M4™ volatile metals measusements systems to
quantify mercury mass and distribution.
69CE
Members of ISCT™ began chemical research in 2005 to develop chemical and chemical application methods for
the removal of mercury and toxic metals from process as part of a project in the GOM. Most recently ISCT™
completed important mercury mass loading, chemical reduction and materials processing research that advanced
our chemical and processing technologies to state-of-the-art. Key objectives achieved in these research programs:
1) enhanced formulations for use in cold water environments (i.e., sub-sea pipeline applications - 10°C) and 2)
development of gel formulas to increase chemical contact time on vertical surfaces (i.e., FPSO cargo holds) with
mercury mass per surface area reductions measured ~99% from the corrosion profile to metal substrate).

risks to personnel, the environment and marine ecosystems. Many companies now strive to implement
