ISCT and PEl's Mercury and Chemical Services Group (MCS) through
a Memorandum of Understanding and Non Disclosure Agreement
formed a strategic alliance January 2015 to provide comprehensive
mercury management and chemical decontamination services to the
hydrocarbon processing industry throughout Australasia and
the Americas.
ISCT and PEI's MCS continue to strengthen their global partnership
with the addition of a term licensing agreement executed by PEI for
certain mercury and arsenic removal chemical decontamination
formulas designed to remove ~99-100% mass from a variety of metal
alloys/corrosion profiles without damaging the substrate and are formulated
to work from 10C to 65C. ISCT and PEI have been actively collaborating
on mercury mass loading, distribution speciation and chemical reduction
research and development since 2014 and have advanced the science to
state of the art. Both companies are engaged in two confidential research
and development projects that aim to a) address inconsistencies in AAS
units comparing trace level mercury analytical methods (combustion
vs digest - purge and trap) and b) seek to improve chemical formulations
for NOR and NORM removal in various environments such as hydrocarbon
processing (impacted with Hg and As or some combination). Much of this
is understood for Hg, however As is a moving target that we seek to better
understand in many ways to optimize removal, measurements, and materials
processing.
ISCT and PEI MCS have successfully deployed ISCT Hg/As and NORM
chemical formulations in 2015 using ISCT’s performance measurements and
verification analysis methods developed to gain visibility into hydrocarbon
loading, total soluble Fe, functional mercury species and other chemical
parameters required to understand what modifications may be required in
the field to optimize chemical performance or processing performance.
Both firms are now collaborating on 1) mercury, arsenic, and NORM
chemical decontamination projects for a confidential client along the north-
west shelf and 2) confidential client along the Texas Gulf Coast.
